Have you heard about ' Dark nights '? Dark nights are eerie or scary nights every child experiences. This story is about George who experienced his Dark night. His dark night was very scary as he did not have his parents with him.
It once happened that George's parents went to his grandma's house to meet her as she was sick. They went at night and promised to return in the morning. George did not go with them as he wanted to enjoy at home all alone and moreover he was used to live at home alone.
That night he was so tired after playing all day with his friends. He fell asleep earlier than usual. It was a strange night for him. His parents had said him not to sleep in the room which is in the ground floor. They had said it as it was not cleaned from weeks and was only used when guests would arrive. But they had told George that there was a ghost in that room to scare him.
George was so naughty and mischievous. He decided that he would sleep in that room as he did not believe in ghosts. He cleaned the room a little and slept there. As the time passed it felt stranger and stranger. Suddenly, George heard a knock on the door. He thought that his parents had arrived early and saw from the window to ensure that it was his parents. But there was no one outside, he thought that it was some boys trying to prank his parents. He went back and slept.
After sometime there was an another knock on the door, it was louder than the previous one. He saw from the window again, but so no one. He was angry as his sleep was disturbed and wrote a note saying that his parents were not at home and he was alone, whoever wanted to prank his parents can come tomorrow and pushed note from below the door. He went to the same room and slept again it was almost 12'o clock at that time. He was not even scared about it.
At 3'o clock he heard a knock on the door again. This was the loudest knock of the three. It was like banging their hands to the door. It did not feel like a knock it felt as if someone was trying to break the door by banking their hands to the door. It was so loud that the door was shaking. For the first time at night George felt chill flow through his spine. The air was cold , he was sure that it was not a prank.
He stepped forward. For the first time he was scared of ghosts. He near the door which was about to burst out. He was frightened. Thoughts rushed into his mind, many questions raised but still he was walking to the door. Finally, he opened it. There was nothing but something made him feel uncomfortable.
He closed the door and walked back into the kitchen. He drank a glass of water which was kept on the table. But there was a strange thing, he had not kept it there. Suddenly, he started feeling that someone was holding his hands. He looked back but there was no one. There was a shadow below a candle. He wondered were the candle came from.
Then he went to his room to sleep. He tried to switch on the lights but he couldn't. He thought it was just imagination but it wasn't. He opened the cupboard, he searched for a while and then he found a white cloth and a candle. He lit the candle. The cloth was almost transparent, he tried to pull it from the cupboard but the cloth had a shape it wasn't even a cloth he was sure it was a ghost.
George ran towards the bed. His hands were pale, he couldn't move. His eyes were filled with tears. His mouth was dry. His eyes were moving for something eerie. There were no signs of the ghosts around. He decided to sleep in another room. He took is pillow and blanket and layed it down on the bed of another room. He then looked into the mirror. He saw his face, but something scary was standing behind him.
It was covered in a white cloth and was holding a candle which was lit. A creepy sound was coming from behind the white cloth. It was very scary. He started crying. He turned back and blinked hardly. The strange thing was gone. A feeling of being safe was now vanished from George's heart. His heart was beating faster now.
He lied on the bed. He tried to sleep but he couldn't, the strange things that had taken place at that night were running in his mind. It was his worst night. He closed his eyes. Within a minute he heard a loud noise coming from the kitchen. He opened his eyes only to see that the living room's light was on. He slowly climbed down from his bed, the floor was still ice cold.
He walked towards the living room, his hands trembling with fear. He didn't dare to go to the kitchen. Suddenly, the lights in the living room turned off. Help me he cried. He tried to run back to the room but his toes were struck to the floor. Something seemed to be holding his toes from behind the floor. His legs couldn't move.
He didn't have the courage to face the ghost again. He closed his eyes. When he opened his eyes he saw the ghost right in front of him. It was creepier than he had thought. George saw that it was holding the candle. The Ghost brought the candle to his face and suddenly it turned into a knife. He closed his eyes when the sharp knife touched his neck. He held his breath.
When he opened his eyes he was still on his bed, sleeping with his blanket on him. It was morning 6'o clock. Suddenly, he heard someone knocking the door. The knocking grew louder and louder making his heart race. He thought that he had went past the time. But this knocking was milder and creepier than that at night.
He went to the door frightened. As he went nearer he heard someone sobbing and a word repeating through a familiar female voice - George. He slowly opened the door - his hands trembling, his face pale, his toes cold, his eyes wet. The vision that met his eyes made him smile. He was happy. It was not the ghost. There were his parents standing, with their backpacks.
He realised that the ghost was just a nightmare. His mother's face made him feel safe and bought the lovingness back. His father rapped his arms around him and asked gently " Why are you scared ?" He replied that it was just a nightmare.
Good lord he realised it or else he would have made his parents frightened. His mother was already frightened though. This is the story of our little George who experienced his Dark night.
