I reached home that night, completely exhausted.

The plan was simple.

Change.

Text Alex that I'd made it home.

Go to sleep.

Instead...

I completely forgot.

I threw my phone onto the bed, changed into something comfortable, and collapsed under the blanket.

Sometime later, my phone buzzed a few times.

Then it started ringing.

Half-asleep, I answered it.

"Hello...?"

It was one of my friends.

"Did you reach home safely?"

"Yeah..."

"Okay, good. Go back to sleep."

The call ended before I could even ask why she was checking on me.

Too tired to think about it, I put my phone aside and drifted back to sleep.
