Unfortunate or Fortunate - Part 6

I stood outside the restaurant, waiting for my Uber.

The night had grown quieter. Most of my friends had already left, and the streets were beginning to empty.

"Hey."

A voice came from behind me.

I turned around.

It was him.

He walked over, a bottle of water in his hand.

"You okay?"

I frowned a little.

"Yeah... why?"

He rubbed the back of his neck, looking almost embarrassed.

"I don't know... I was just worried."

"You didn't really get to finish that fight back there."

He let out a small laugh.

"I figured you might still be frustrated."

I couldn't help but chuckle.

Then he smiled.

"And..."

"You looked really cool standing up for yourself."

A gentle breeze drifted between us, making his wavy black hair fall across his forehead.

For the first time that night...

I actually looked at him.

Black, slightly messy hair.

Warm, dusky brown eyes.

Broad shoulders hidden beneath an oversized hoodie.

Tall.

Comfortable.

For some reason...

He looked...

"Cozy."

The word slipped out before I could stop myself.

"Hm?" he blinked.

"Sorry... did you say something?"

My eyes widened.

"N-Nope."

God... that's embarrassing.

He laughed softly before looking down at the ground for a second.

Then, almost nervously, he asked,

"Can... we meet again sometime?"

There it was.

The shy guy was even shyer than I thought.

"Sure," I smiled. "Just give me your Instagram. We'll talk there."

His face instantly brightened as he handed me his phone.

A moment later, headlights pulled up in front of us.

"My Uber."

"I should get going."

"Yeah... take care."

I climbed into the car, gave him one last wave, and watched him disappear as we drove away.

A few minutes later, my phone buzzed.

Alex sent you a follow request.

I accepted it.
