Chapter 3: The Pattern No One Could Explain

By the third case, the pattern was impossible to ignore.

Same type of death.

Same absence of evidence.

Same last detail from witnesses:

“We heard a ding dong sound.”

And every time—

the same man appeared nearby.

But the deeper they looked…

the worse it became.

CCTV footage told a different story.

In one clip, the man was seen walking outside a building at 9:14 PM.

The time of death?

9:15 PM.

Inside the building.

Two places. One minute apart.

Impossible.

Raghav replayed the footage again and again.

“Zoom it.”

The technician did.

The man’s face was clear.

No disguise.

No mistake.

It was him.

Raghav leaned back slowly.

“This doesn’t make sense…”

Behind him, Dr. Meera watched quietly.

“It’s not supposed to,” she said.

Raghav turned.

“You’re the psychologist?”

She nodded.

“And I think you’re asking the wrong question.”

Raghav frowned.

“What do you mean?”

Meera stepped closer to the screen.

“You’re trying to prove whether he committed the crime.”

She paused.

Then said something that made the room go silent:

“You should be asking… which version of him was there.”

Raghav stared at her.

“Version?”

Meera nodded slightly.

“Yes.”

Her eyes shifted to the paused CCTV frame.

“Because I don’t think he is just one person.”

A heavy silence followed.

Somewhere deep in the building—

a faint sound echoed.

So soft, it could have been imagination.

Ding… dong.

Raghav slowly turned his head.

This time…

he was sure he heard it.
