I evenly stack my papers and push them off to the side as I hear a knock on my door.
“Come in.” I order, pulling out my phone to play Geometry Dash. I look up for a moment while it loads to see Hapi at my door, looking like she just barfed a whole pool out. She was holding a stack of papers, each neatly color-coded with what I’m guessing was her favorite colors. Oranges, reds and pinks were used, in all different shades. I look up to her tired looking eyes and nod my head towards a shelf. She shuffled across the room to place the papers on the shelf and then turned back to me. I sigh , turning off my phone and shoving it back into my pocket.
“What?” I ask impatiently. I think I startled her, too, because when I asked, she jumped the teeniest bit.
“Did you hear about Mr. Cado, Sir?” She snapped, pulling papers made of glowing specs out of thin air. I tried not to look surprised. She did this all the time after going to magic school for eight more years. She did this after becoming a therapist to seem more… ‘Cool.’ She went through the papers, pushing aside mini constellations until finding one particular paper, turning it into real copy paper. She handed it to me, and I looked, seeing a bunch of her mental notes. The only bad thing about her mental notes were that they came straight from her head, meaning there was some… unnecessary content. Like how descriptive it was. I hated it. It was almost like she just showed me a picture. And how it mentioned that she threw up. Well, that explained some of it at least.
I set the paper aside and pinched the bridge of my nose, tired of being such an important part of society.
“No, but now I know.” I replied late, startling her again while her mind was clearly elsewhere. She cleared her throat as she adjusted her sleeves, tucking her collar shirt under her high rise pleated shorts.
“I told Ms. Love to take him to the nurse. We need to keep in mind that even without a doctor, we can still heal and protect patients. Ms. Lavender has it under control…” She paused, rocking back and forth on her feet. “… Even if she doesn’t have Mr. Cado to instruct her.” I nodded, even if I didn’t agree with it. Because what was I supposed to say? I didn’t have much of a say on it anyways because Hapi was smarter and actually knew how to work around here. I’m just a guy who’s famous and seemingly mayor-ish.14Please respect copyright.PENANARmRf8zdMmY

I stood up from my desk and began to walk out, gesturing for Hapi to follow. As we walked in through the halls, I saw how uneasy she seemed, so I tried to change to an easier topic.
“So… What are you planning on doing when you get back to your dorm?” I asked casually, because I had no idea what else to ask and I definitely wanted to keep the subject off of work.14Please respect copyright.PENANAELYNojrR3P
“I’m going to call Ms. Saccharon. Then sleep, probably” She did look tired, but why was she going to call Sugar? I was about to ask when I hear a loud high-pitched screech, coming from where we were coming from. I pause, the lights flicker off, and I hear running, almost as if a pancake is slapping against the tile flooring. And then I hear another kind of running, but the sound of… Combat boots? There’s a flash of light, and a weird groaning sound. The lights turn back on and I see… Doctor Linka? She's standing by, force field raised, protecting me and Hapi from this strange looking monster. I look over to Hapi and her eyes go wide, like she just saw a ghost. I exhaled, finally realizing that I was holding my breath.14Please respect copyright.PENANA12KJRpUodV
“Thank you…” Is all I can manage, still a little breathless from the attack.14Please respect copyright.PENANAt7kOsgZ1bl
