I sighed as I slumped in my chair. Pika chuckled, placing a party hat on my head.
“Dude. I’m so glad I got a break.” I was, but I was also a little annoyed. He somehow quietly dragged a chair over and sat at the table, nodding along. We sat in comfortable silence for what felt like about 10 minutes before Sugar walked by and sat down at our table.
“How’s it going?” She raised an eyebrow when she noticed how I was in a bad mood, although it was hard to notice. I shrugged and Pika laughed half heartedly and sat up a little straighter.7Please respect copyright.PENANAw7LSNbgANz
“Good! Great, even. I’m just glad that I don’t have the night shift this time.” He threw his head back and laughed again, this time with more truth. Sugar chuckled along, although she didn’t seem amused. I kept quiet, though.
We continued to chat here and there, although we were mostly quiet. I began to lift my cup for another drink when the lights turned out. I jerked up from my leaning position, hand on shot gun. This was not normal. No one says anything for a bit, and then I hear it. The screams of fear—or pain? And the others who are just looking for their things. Everything feels like chaos, and I hate chaos. Everything should be right and orderly.
I rest my gun for now, pulling my flashlight out instead. I flick it on, looking around for other workers. Something tells me this isn’t a normal party. Something tells me someone, or something, has planned it. And if that’s true, they planned it for a very specific reason.7Please respect copyright.PENANA1DbkEVNUCo
