Analysis
The following analysis will examine the strengths and weaknesses of each team member and how the team later realised that the mission was more complex than they thought, as I will demonstrate later.
Naruto, Hinata, and Kiba are given a mission to find some treasure and are told that if they fail to find it, they will be returned to the academy due to Naruto’s poor performance on his missions with Kiba and Hinata. The client happens to be an old acquaintance of Tsunade named Agari Kaisen. He showed them a map indicating the location of the treasure, which is said to be worth millions. He would have gotten the treasure himself, but he claimed that the area was quite difficult for ordinary people to travel to. He has even attempted to go to the area more than once, but he couldn’t manage to because it was impossible. Therefore, he believes the Shinobi have a better chance of finding it instead. While he informed the Genin of the details of the mission, Tsunade said, “The deadline is in three days. If you succeed, Agari will give you a special reward. Proceed with caution.”
Tsunade also informed them that this mission shouldn’t be much trouble; therefore, if they fail, they will be sent back to the academy and redo all their ninja training from day one. This is because of Naruto’s poor performance on his missions with Kiba and Hinata. Moreover, she also noted that their mission success rate is poor, and they are the worst team. For example, they didn’t get the thief Gosukungi; they couldn’t use the bikochu beetle to find Sasuke because Naruto farted on that scent bug. Although some of their missions were due to Naruto’s poor performance, Tsunade said that “collective responsibility is fundamental in ninja teams; everyone takes blame for a failure.” As a result, they can’t afford to go back to the academy, so they must make sure their mission is a success.
They set out to find it, but Naruto and Kiba’s arguments prevented them from cooperating. They set out to find the treasure in the mountains. Since Kiba happens to know the area because he and Akamaru regularly train in mountains like this one, he has a better understanding of where they could find treasure. However, along the way, the team reaches a dead end where Naruto and Kiba’s arguments prevent them from cooperating.
For example, Naruto wanted to pass through a mountain terrain, but Kiba said it would be difficult to pass through it. Therefore, Kiba said they should go another way, but Naruto said it was a long way around. As a result, they decide to go in different directions, and Kiba says they should meet around a boulder to see who is right. While Kiba goes in his direction, Naruto goes in the other direction, and Hinata decides to follow Naruto. Naruto’s direction was filled with obstacles, such as passing through a thorny café and climbing the cliff. After some scratches Hinata and Naruto endured, they reached their destination, the area with a huge boulder, but Kiba was already there first. He even cooked food for them since they were taking too much time to reach their destination.
Naruto was still reluctant to take shortcuts when Hinata was following him. Eventually, after some failed attempts, they decide to follow Kiba. In this case, it’s no surprise that Naruto is bad when it comes to following directions because even when he was assigned a mission with Konohamaru’s team, he was bad at giving directions. Therefore, although Naruto is a fine shinobi when it comes to following directions, he is bad at it. Hinata, on the other hand, probably only followed Naruto because of the crush she had on him. She probably just wanted to be close to him. When it comes to Kiba knowing this area, he somehow acts as the team leader, guiding them to where the treasure is located.
They are ambushed and trapped by three people, who then copy their identities, smells, and thoughts and learn that the person who requested the mission is their leader. Before the enemy ambushed them, Hinata could sense their presence. When she wanted to track them with her Byakugan, she heard Kiba and Naruto arguing, so she went to them to stop them from arguing. Meanwhile, the enemies are invisible as they spy on the genin.
The genin came across a limestone cave where the treasure was supposedly hiding. Kiba found it suspicious that they found the location of the limestone cave so easily since it was supposed to be further ahead. Naruto, however, becomes impatient and enters the cave, and Hinata follows him. Kiba tries to stop them, but they have already entered the cave.
When Hinata and Naruto entered the cave, it was dark, and the enemy hid above the ceiling of the cave as he seemingly landed on the ground. Meanwhile, Naruto and Hinata reached a dead end, and Kiba called out to them. Afterwards, fragments of the ceiling collapsed on them due to the kunai that was tossed by the enemy. Eventually, Kiba manages to save them, and Naruto wonders if the enemy follows them to the cave. Kiba says it was an accident since Akamaru didn’t smell anyone else besides the three of them. He said he tried to explain to them that this wasn’t the right cave, and as a result, they started arguing again. Kiba’s strength is to decipher whether an area is worth exploring or not. When he realised that it was suspicious that they found the location so easily since it was further ahead, he tried to stop Hinata and Naruto from entering the cave. Kiba’s only weakness is his arguments with Naruto, which also wastes their time.
Moreover, Naruto’s weakness is that he is too impatient. He just wants to take shortcuts to reach the destination, but his need to get there quickly almost cost his teammate’s life. His strength is that, when it comes to fighting, he is gifted. Lastly, Hinata’s strength is that she can detect the enemies’ presence, but her need to follow Naruto everywhere he goes, even though she noticed he was bad at following directions, almost cost her life as well. Therefore, her crush on Naruto in this case is a weakness since it seems she can’t separate her emotions from the mission.
After they all survived the collapse of the limestone cave, Kiba attended to Hinata’s wound on her foot, where a fragment of the ceiling must have hit her. She starts blaming herself, saying that she’s the one dragging them down, and Naruto says no; he should have been the one to be cautious, and Kiba agrees that it’s his fault.
Since Kiba doesn’t want to risk failing due to Naruto’s recklessness or stupidity, he says that he and Akamaru will find the treasure themselves instead. Naruto and Hinata tried to convince him that since they were a team, they got to do this mission together. Kiba noted that since Hinata was injured and Naruto couldn’t read the map to find the treasure on his own, Kiba suggested that they stay behind, where Naruto should take care of Hinata, since they had already wasted too much time because of the decisions Naruto had made.
So, Kiba told them to rest while he went out to look for the treasure. Kiba leaves before Naruto can say anything, and as soon as he leaves, Hinata and Naruto get ambushed by the intruders who toss bombs at them. Hinata and Naruto’s strength is that they understand the importance of staying together as a team to find the treasure. Kiba’s weakness was that he didn’t understand the importance of staying together as a team. His need to find the treasure on his own caused his teammates to be ambushed by the enemy. If he had stayed behind with Naruto and Hinata or gone with them to the second location, perhaps the enemy wouldn’t have ambushed them.

The enemies captured Hinata and Naruto.
After Naruto and Hinata get ambushed, Naruto wakes up and finds himself tied up. As soon as he woke up, he noticed that there were two Hinatas tied up: one who happened to be a copycat and the other who was the real Hinata. Both are identical, to the extent that Naruto was confused about which one was the real Hinata. He wondered if this was a clone jutsu, but he then realised that one of them was using a transformation jutsu. Naruto then remarked that if Kiba and Akamaru were there, they could decipher which one was the real Hinata. However, Agari Kaisen appears from the shadows, telling Naruto that no one can figure it out, not even a ninja dog.

Agari Kaisen mentions the details of the jutsu and his other plans.
Agari said to Naruto that this was no ordinary transformation jutsu and that he only hired the genin, not necessarily to find the lost treasure, but he was really after their faces. He also said he already has Naruto’s face, where a copycat of Naruto appears. Since Agari has Hinata and Naruto’s faces, he sets his sights on finding Kiba, who is the last face that he needs. So, he sends the fake Naruto and the fake Hinata to capture Kiba.

The impostors capture Kiba.
Please note that Kiba is speaking to the impostors, not the real Naruto and Hinata.
Meanwhile, Kiba finds another limestone cave and enters the cave. He breaks a huge rock using Fang over Fang and finds the treasure hidden underground. When he found the treasure, he found it weird that it was so easy to find the treasure. Before he could contemplate any further, the impostors arrived. When the impostors arrived at the second limestone cave to see Kiba, Kiba was suspicious. A dialogue takes place among them:
Kiba: Naruto, Hinata, why are you here? I told you guys you could head back home.
Naruto: What’s your problem? We came all this way.
Hinata: The mission was for the three of us, after all.
Kiba: Hinata, how do you feel? I mean, is your injury okay?
Hinata looks at her foot and says, Yes, I just needed to rest for a while, and then I can move on again.
While Kiba was conversing with Hinata, Naruto looked down underground where the treasure was hidden and said to Kiba:
Naruto: Wow, nice going; I can’t believe you already found the treasure. Let’s grab it and bring it back to the village, okay?
Kiba: You got it.
Before Kiba could take the treasure, he started contemplating in his mind once again, saying, “Hold on, how did these guys find this cave so quickly? They didn’t have a map. Plus, Naruto has zero sense of direction, and Hinata has a bumpy leg. Akamaru doesn’t seem to suspect anything is wrong. Am I being paranoid?” Before he can figure anything out, they knock him, and he falls inside, where the treasure is hidden.
Kiba was on the right track to figure out that the treasure was too easy to find and that they were impostors. Since he knew that Naruto had zero sense of direction and that Hinata’s walking around with an injured leg was suspicious if he had figured out the minute they arrived, perhaps he could have managed to escape and save the real Naruto and Hinata; however, that didn’t happen.

The impostors take Kiba to the first limestone cave, where his other teammates are held hostage.
Tense music plays in the background as Kiba and Akamaru are tied up. One of the enemies wearing a mask shows himself wearing clothes like Kiba. He then proceeds to use a copying jutsu, where he comes close to Kiba’s face while he is unconscious. Agara is present as he explains the details of the jutsu. He said, “As you can see, when performing the face copying jutsu, the person being copied must be close by. What’s more, it takes a bit of time, but once the face has been copied, it’s an impeccable transformation. Even the victim’s family can’t tell the difference.” As soon as he finished saying this, the copycat Kiba managed to copy Kiba’s face.
When the real Kiba wakes up, he sees the copycat Kiba’s face and puts two and two together, saying that the impostors were the ones who came to see him at the second limestone cave. He also saw his other comrades, the real Naruto and Hinata, tied up. While Kiba was looking around, Agari also told the genin that they were from the Kedoin clan, which wields the Hidden Face Copying Jutsu. Agari also said that after copying their faces, they plan to waltz back into the leaf village, and when they get inside, they plan to destroy the leaf village. The episode ends when they are laughing evilly. What will happen next? Since Agari is an old acquaintance of Tsunade, why would he do this? Is there more to the story? These questions will probably be revealed in the next episode.
