Analysis
This episode mentioned some details relating to Anko’s relationship with Orochimaru. It also shows how Naruto continues to try to convince Anko to stop causing havoc in the village. Lastly, it also shows how Naruto managed to use the demon fox’s chakra to free himself.
Anko rescues the team by summoning a giant snake, which takes the team in its mouth and breaks through the wall. Team Anko quickly pursues the enemy. The members of the crew of the Land of the Sea were waiting for the leaf ninja to guard their shipment. However, when they realised they were not coming, they received misleading information that told them the leaf ninja had driven off the demon of the ocean. However, it was just a trap set by Amachi to get the fleet and cargo, and since the ship crew didn’t know, they sailed into the ocean thinking that their fleet was safe to travel to the land of water. While they left, the genin were on their way to see the shipment, but by the time they reached their destination, they couldn’t see the fleet in a harbour or any ships at all.

Amachi’s team’s infiltration into the ship
Tense music plays in the background as the ship’s crew members are sailing deep in the ocean, and in the process, the demon of the ocean (Isaribi) is making rounds to destroy the ships. As a result, their brakes stopped working, and the ship ended up hitting another ship. A huge amount of damage took place, and that’s when Amachi, who was disguised as one of the crew members, showed up. He seemingly managed to get the fleet and its cargo..
Afterwards, Yoroi activated his jutsu, Demon Illusion: Fire Jutsu, which formed a huge flame and set the boat on fire, causing the crew to escape. Yoroi then tries to finish them off by forming a huge whirlpool, which drowns the crew. It’s the same jutsu he used when he drowned Naruto. However, before the current could drown the ship’s crew any further, Shino stopped his attack by tossing a kunai on his arm. The rest of the team arrives, and Ino saves the crew. When Naruto arrived on the ship, he tried to convince Isaribi once again to stop; however, she pushed him underwater with her. When Amachi wants to pursue them, Anko blocks him.

The dialogue between Amachi and Anko
Dramatic music starts to play in the background. When Anko blocked Amachi from pursuing Naruto and Isaribi, she started to ask him some questions concerning Orochimaru’s whereabouts.
Anko: I’m the one you have to worry about. You said Orochimaru left the research lab weeks ago; isn’t that right? Any clue as to where he has been since?
Amachi: I have no idea. I know he took a young kid with him—an excellent prospect, he said. This kid isn’t going to be a disappointment like you were.
Anko: Sasuke Uchiha...
Amachi: You just didn’t quite have it. I guess that’s why he tossed you aside.
The dialogue just proves that Orochimaru didn’t care about his former student. Judging from what Amachi said about Orochimaru tossing her aside, it seems he wanted to use Anko’s body as his vessel. Hence, that is probably why he gave her the curse mark, and it seems he tossed her aside because she wasn’t strong enough to be his vessel. Orochimaru was just using everyone, even the ones close to him, which proves he is heartless.

The dialogue between Naruto and Isaribi
While Isaribi drowns Naruto underwater, Naruto activates his Shadow Clone Jutsu; however, she defeats those shadow clones. Naruto then proceeds to swim upwards to find oxygen, where he is seemingly tired as he lies down on shore. While he lies down on the shore, Isaribi looks at him from a distance while still in the sea. A dialogue takes place where Naruto tries to convince her once again to stop what she is doing.
Naruto: Isaribi, what do I have to do so that you’ll understand you’re putting people’s lives in jeopardy? Isaribi, don’t you care about them at all?
Isaribi: Since you asked, no
Naruto (stunned): Huh?
Isaribi: See, their lives mean nothing to me; yours mean nothing to me.
Naruto yells, You know that’s a lie!
She opens her mouth and strikes water at him, and he ends up on the ground. She then comes out of the water and comes close to Naruto.
Isaribi: Do you think I care who gets hurt or drowns? There’s only one thing I care about, and that’s being returned to the way I was!
Naruto slowly gets up and charges forward at her.
Naruto: It’s about time somebody woke you up.
Naruto slaps her, and she falls to the ground. Naruto looked at his hand as he said to her:
Naruto: Believe me, I know. I know just how painful it can be, but still, that doesn’t make it right to hurt others. You saved my life; have you forgotten that? You have a good heart, Isaribi; you do care!
Afterwards, there is a moment of silence between the two of them. Meanwhile, in the boat, Amachi and Anko battle it out with ninja tools until he tosses a bottle that causes Anko to be unconscious, and he heads off to see Naruto and Isaribi.
The dialogue shows how Naruto is trying to show Isaribi that he understands what she is going through. He knows what it’s like to be treated like a monster and an outcast, yet he never tries to hurt others because he knows it’s not right. He also tries to show her that she has a good heart and doesn’t need to work for Amachi to help him with his evil intentions.
Naruto is shown to be the type of character who doesn’t like to give up on others, especially those driven by darkness. This was evident when he convinced Toki, who was disguised as Sagi, to stop her pursuit of vengeance and live a peaceful life. We also see him still trying to find Sasuke so that he can stop him from his pursuit of vengeance and bring him back to the Leaf Village. Naruto is therefore an advocate for peace, not darkness.
After encountering Amachi, Naruto is caught in his attack and can use the demon fox’s chakra to free himself. A lot had happened before Naruto could tap into the demon fox’s chakra. After Amachi notices from a distance that Isaribi is not doing anything to Naruto, he arrives to finish Naruto off instead. Dramatic music plays in the background with a mix of electric guitars as he changes into a monster, which is almost like Isaribi’s monster form. He then struck Isaribi with water coming from his mouth. While this happened, he mentioned his original plan with Isaribi was to harvest her organs, as is evident in his words: “We were planning to dissect her and harvest her organs for experiments, but then we took pity on her and let her live, and what did we get for our trouble but incompetence and ingratitude.” When Isaribi heard his words, she was stunned. Amachi just proves to be like Orochimaru, a monster willing to hurt others to fulfil his evil desires.

The battle between Naruto and Amachi
When Naruto hears what Amachi says about Isaribi, he gets angry and charges forward at him, but Amachi punches him, and he lands on top of the sea. Afterwards, Naruto activates his shadow clones, but Amachi defeats them by throwing spikes at the shadow clones. Naruto attempts to hit him again, but Amachi activates Water Style: Great Cannon Ball Jutsu, where a huge amount of water comes from his mouth and strikes Naruto, causing Naruto to land on top of the lake on his backside. Lastly, to finish Naruto off, Amachi summons a sea monster consisting of water, which seemingly eats Naruto. The sea monster is more like a water prison jutsu. Meanwhile, Anko wakes up and attempts to set Naruto free by stabbing the monster with her kunai, but she bounces off. Therefore, there is a threatening atmosphere because Naruto is in danger.
After he trapped Naruto in the water prison, Amachi gave Isaribi another chance to finish them off, but she wouldn’t do it. Before she seemingly fights him, Naruto says to her while trapped in the sea monster, “It’s no good; it won’t make it right. Don’t do it, Isaribi; please don’t go there into that world, into the darkness.” Naruto then passed out. Isaribi has finally taken heed to Naruto’s words; therefore, Naruto managed to save her from her pursuit of darkness, which proves that Naruto has a good effect on people by turning them from something bad to something good.

Naruto taps into the nine-tailed fox chakra.
After Naruto passes out, ominous music plays in the background, and in his subconscious mind, he walks around. He feels the presence of the fox, as is evident in his words, “I can feel it.” As he continues to walk around, he comes across a door with a bright light ahead, and when he passes through the door, he finds the nine-tailed fox trapped in a cage. The nine-tailed fox’s presence is frightening. His eyes are flashing red, and his teeth are so wide that an immense red chakra starts emanating from his body. The fox doesn’t say anything, but its presence frightens Naruto. While Naruto is almost scared, the fox’s red chakra passes under the gate to cover Naruto with its chakra. As a result, Naruto wakes up and has red eyes and a red chakra emanating from his body. As he screams, intense music plays in the background with a mix of electric guitar, drums, and Japanese flute. With a red chakra still emanating from his body, he breaks free from the water prison. Due to the water prison, it drowns Ino, the ship’s crew, Shino, and Yoroi. As Naruto breaks free from the water prison, he still has the red chakra, and with his red eyes, he is like a beast.

Anko reveals Naruto’s past life to Isaribi.
While this was happening, Isaribi was in human form, witnessing what was happening with Naruto. She wonders what’s going on with him. So Anko told her that Naruto was just like her. A dialogue takes place between them.
Anko: That’s right, he’s the same as you.
Isaribi: Huh, what are you talking about? The same as me?
Anko: Yeah, Naruto carries inside him the spirit of the nine-tailed fox that almost destroyed our village. Ever since he was a child, people have treated him like a monster and a freak. That’s why he works and fights twice as hard as anyone else. Every day is a struggle just to be accepted by the world as a human being.
Due to his painful experience, Naruto works hard to become a fine shinobi. This proves that the saying “pain makes one stronger” is true, as is evident in Naruto’s experience. It is also evident with Sasuke, since, due to his painful experience of losing the Uchiha, he became a fine shinobi even though he ended up going to Orochimaru.
When hearing about Naruto’s past life, she realises why Naruto tried to convince her to stop her pursuit of darkness. She now tries to stop Naruto from killing Amachi as she says to him, “No! Naruto, no!” The episode ends with Naruto saying to Amachi with a loud growl, “You’re going to be sorry!” What will happen next? Will Naruto rip Amachi to shreds, or will he stop? This will be revealed in the next episode.
The lesson from this episode is that pain makes one stronger, as I have mentioned in the analysis. Another lesson from this is that one shouldn’t make assumptions that everyone has an easy life, just like Isaribi did when she thought Naruto wouldn’t understand her pain. It proves that not everyone will show their pain to everyone.
