“Infiltration: The Set-Up!”
“While on the beach, Anko, still unconscious, is being tended to by Ino. Meanwhile, Naruto explains his encounter with Isaribi earlier. The episode continues back into Anko’s sudden remembrance of her memories. She sees Orochimaru approaching her, telling her that the Hokage knows about their experiments. Shino, Naruto, and Ino decided to continue their original mission: to protect the official payments and capture the Kaima (Isaribi). The group heads to Demon Island (Kikaijima), an island located in the Land of the Sea, where it is said the Kaima resides. Anko awakens and explains that the Kaima (Demon of the Ocean) is a human who has undergone physical transmutations. While they are talking, Yoroi and Isaribi head underwater to Orochimaru’s lair. Inside, Isaribi passes on the information relating to the official payments and asks when she will return to normal. Yoroi tells her that she is a prototype and that when he is done collecting information from her, he will change her back. He also sends her to dispatch Naruto and the rest of the group, who have just arrived on the shore. Shino, Naruto, and Ino find themselves in an experimental laboratory with many creatures contained in test pillars. Isaribi approaches from behind and triggers a trapdoor. The three genin fall through the trapdoor, and Anko appears behind Isaribi with a kunai at her throat. Isaribi gets away and leaves Anko locked in the room, facing three large lion-like animal mutations. Anko makes quick work of the three, only leaving the curse mark to pain her. The rest of the team faces Yoroi Akado, who is working for the enemy. Shino takes up the challenge while Naruto and Ino continue running to catch up with Anko. Anko, Naruto, and Ino find themselves facing Amachi and Isaribi. Amachi and Isaribi run off just as Misumi Tsurugi comes to face them. Ino uses her mind manipulation jutsu to restrain him. Shino’s opponent disappears as the island begins to collapse. Isaribi, Amachi, and Yoroi escape on a ship, leaving Team Anko to die in the collapsing building. Naruto frantically searches for an exit.”

Analysis
Most of the information provided by Wikipedia explained everything that happened in the episode. However, this analysis will reveal how Orochimaru became involved in Demon Island and other key events that occurred.
The episode continues back into Anko’s sudden remembrance of her memories. She sees Orochimaru approaching her, telling her that the Hokage knows about their experiments. Orochimaru lied to Anko; otherwise, if the Hokage knew about their experiments, he wouldn’t have felt the need to erase her memories. This just proves that Orochimaru is a liar and would do whatever it takes to fulfil his evil intentions, even at the expense of manipulating others, such as Anko, and harming innocent people through his experiments.

Anko’s memories played a role in revealing Orochimaru’s evil plans.
Anko awakens and explains that the Kaima (Demon of the Ocean) is a human who has undergone physical transmutations. When she woke up, she explained to Ino, Shino, and Naruto about Isaribi’s identity. She said, “This isn’t some sea creature we are dealing with; our demon was made in a lab; it used to be human.” Anko also explained how Orochimaru is the one behind the disappearance of villagers, not the demon of the ocean (Isaribi). This is evident when she says, “A good number of people did mysteriously vanish in the land of the sea 10 years ago, but it wasn’t because of any demon. They were being snatched up and used as test subjects in an experiment conducted by Orochimaru.” This means that the possible explanation I provided in the previous analysis is accurate. Orochimaru is the one Anko’s team must deal with, not the demon of the ocean (Isaribi).
Anko also explains from the beginning how he got mixed up in the experiments. She told them the story by saying, “I think I'd better start at the beginning. Back when he left the village, more than 10 years ago, Orochimaru’s lust for knowledge and power became so insatiable that he gradually exceeded the normal limitations of a shinobi and began experimenting with forbidden jutsu. Of course, this all became common knowledge in the leaf village, but his missions have taken him far and wide in this world. The hidden leaf village wasn’t the only place he had research facilities set up.” Indeed, Anko is right. One of the research facilities is hidden on Demon Island. This means that the humans who disappeared were human guinea pigs. It’s the same thing he did to the other villages. For instance, remember how in Season 3, he manipulated the Fuma clan by promising them that he would restore their clan? Well, it was just Orochimaru’s way of conducting his experiments on humans. An example worth noting is Arashi, who turned into a monster when he was joined by his former comrades, Jigumo and Kamakiri.
I also believe he wanted to do the same with Mizuki, where Mizuki drank a certain amount of formula to become powerful, but instead ended up destroying his chances of becoming a shinobi once again. He had promised Mizuki the pursuit of power just to conduct his research, but of course, he had left the sound village because he knew the formula wouldn’t work, and unfortunately, Mizuki didn’t know the dangers of the formula he drank. Orochimaru was cunning from the start; finding ways to obtain power at the expense of others is just pure evil. This angered Naruto, so he suggested that the team must bust into their hideout and get Isaribi out of there; hence, they headed off to Demon Island.
In this episode, it also reveals more details about the curse mark. As they head off to Demon Island on a boat, Anko tells her team that she trained under Orochimaru when he was a Jonin back in the day, hence how she knew so much about his experiments. After telling the genin, her curse mark starts to bother her again. It gets worse, and due to this, Orochimaru, at his lair, could sense someone drawing near the island. This shows that if someone is feeling pain about the curse mark, it’s probably due to them coming close to where Orochimaru could be. In this case, it served as a tracker for Orochimaru to sense that some intruders were arriving at Demon Island. So, he told Amachi, the scientist, to sort it out. However, as he left, it seemed Amachi had a problem with Orochimaru, as he said in his mind, “Hmph, the arrogance; he will get hit soon enough.” It’s probably because he is not happy that Orochimaru is abandoning his research since he and Sasuke are preparing to leave Demon Island. Therefore, it’s unfortunate for Naruto that he won’t see Sasuke face-to-face.

Isaribi’s personal experience is like Naruto’s personal experience.
While they are talking, Yoroi and Isaribi head underwater to Orochimaru’s lair. Tense music plays in the background as they head underwater to Orochimaru’s lair. Isaribi is a clear victim of Orochimaru and Amachi’s evil intentions to pursue power. With a sad look on her face, she was just a slave to obeying orders. As she looks down on a pool, she reflects on how the kids who came to her hut threw stones at her. She also reflects on how the villagers treated her like a monster because of the rumour that she had been taken away by spirits and that she was the only one who came back. As a result, they kept their distance from her. Her experience is reminiscent of Naruto’s experience as a kid since, at the Hidden Leaf Village, people treated him like a monster due to the nine-tailed fox inside of him. Both Isaribi and Naruto experienced loneliness and isolation from the villagers.
While the genin reached Demon Island, Isaribi passed on the information relating to the official payments and asked when she would return to normal. It was Amachi, the scientist, not Yoroi, who told her she was a prototype, and when he was done collecting information from her, he would change her back. However, I highly doubt he has any intention to change her back to normal because the pursuit of power runs deep in his veins.
The rest of the team faces Yoroi Akado, who is working for the enemy. Shino recognises Yoroi from the Chunin exams. He was matched up against Sasuke and was with Kabuto. He was also the one who sucked up Sasuke’s strength. This just proves that, from the beginning, Orochimaru had plans to get Sasuke as a vessel.
Shino takes up the challenge while Naruto and Ino continue running to catch up with Anko. Shino takes up the challenge because he’s better suited for it. Shino said to Naruto and Ino, “His jutsu will be a problem for your style of close combat.” As they left, Shino then used parasitic insects on Yoroi. Shino kept his eye on the bigger picture in the sense that while he stayed behind to fight Yoroi, it gave others the chance to find Isaribi faster before it was too late.

Amachi’s reasons for researching human beings
Anko, Naruto, and Ino find themselves facing Amachi and Isaribi. Tense music was playing throughout the scene as Anko revealed who Amachi is to the Genin. She said that he was a medical ninja who teamed up with Orochimaru to conduct research at Demon Island. Moreover, Amachi said he devoted his life to his research and explained his research on Isaribi. He said, “Look here; this girl can adapt to a quiet environment. Combined with the ability to breathe underwater with advanced strength and agility. It’s always been my dream to be a ninja core for underwater warfare, and this girl here is the first step.” He wants an unparalleled military force that can move freely on both land and sea. Once he has done it, he will spread it across the nations and take complete control of the marine shipping routes. Just like Orochimaru, he is also in pursuit of power, satisfying his evil intentions at the expense of others, even if it means turning them into monsters.

Naruto attempts to convince Isaribi to leave Amachi.
When Naruto wanted to hit Amachi, Isaribi stood in the way of Naruto’s attack. Sad music with a low-pitched piano plays in the background as she explains to Naruto why she’s protecting him. Amachi is the only one who can change her back to normal, and he promised her that he would. Afterwards, she removes the bandages to reveal some scales on her body. A dialogue takes place when she says to Naruto:
Isaribi: Look at me; people in this world judge others based solely on their appearance. They stay away when they see me covered in bandages. Imagine what they would do if they saw a monster covered in scales. I just want my body back, okay? I want to be human! I’ll do whatever it takes to be myself again!
Naruto (almost teary-eyed): But you’re still human; it doesn’t matter what you look like, and yet you’re attacking ships with these guys and sending them to the bottom.
Isaribi (teary-eyed): Just shut up! Stop it!
Naruto: But I didn’t...
Isaribi (teary-eyed): I don’t want to hear anymore. Just shut up. Why does everyone have to be so cruel to me?
Naruto (sympathetic): You don’t get it. You see, you and I are exactly alike.
Isaribi (crying): ¡Be quiet! You’re human, aren’t you? You’ve no idea what I’m going through. I only wish I were like you.
Isaribi kneels while still crying. Amachi tells her to stop crying and seemingly assures her that he will return her to normal. Suddenly, there’s an explosion caused by a paper bomb, and Misumi appears.
As is evident in the dialogue, Naruto wanted to let her know that they are exactly alike because he has the nine-tailed demon fox inside of him. If she had taken the time to listen, perhaps she would have left Amachi and left with Anko’s team. This just proves my assertion that Isaribi’s experience is like Naruto’s experience.
Amachi and Isaribi run off just as Misumi Tsurugi comes to face them. Ino uses her mind manipulation technique, jutsu, to restrain him. Dramatic music with a mix of electric guitars plays in the background to signify someone is in danger. Misumi was squeezing Naruto with his long arms, and when Ino saw this, she activated her Mind Destruction Jutsu to restrain him. While she managed to do that, the islands began to collapse.
Shino’s opponent disappears as the island begins to collapse. When Yoroi strangled Shino from behind, he realised that Shino was just an insect clone. Since he realised that they both stole chakra from their opponents, this fight wouldn’t be an easy one to finish. As a result, he disappeared.
Isaribi, Amachi, and Yoroi escape on a ship, leaving Team Anko to die in the collapsing building. Naruto frantically searches for an exit. As Anko’s team leaves to search for an exit, what will happen next? Will Isaribi escape from Amachi’s clutches? Will Anko’s team see Orochimaru and Sasuke? All of this will be revealed in the next episode.
The lesson from this episode could be drawn from Naruto’s statement to Isaribi when he said, “It’s not a face that makes someone a monster; it’s the choices they make with their life.” Indeed, it’s true because when it comes to Orochimaru and Amachi, they look normal, but their choices to research human beings make them monsters.
