Analysis
The following analysis will look at a mission that Naruto and Team 3 are about to embark on. It is an S-rank mission. Therefore, we will look at more details concerning this mission.
When Naruto saves three guys, he is dragged into yet another mission. However, unlike the last two, this is one he does not wish to partake in. When Naruto saved the three guys, they requested their services. Tsunade explains more about the mission to Might Guy, Team 3, and Naruto through dialogue:
Tsunade: Those men Naruto rescued are here to request our services. They came from the Kadabami Gold Mine, one of the most abundant mines in all the land of rivers. About six months ago, a bunch of goons calling themselves the Kurosuki Family showed up and ran the magistrate out of town. They have taken over their village and are killing people left and right.
Rock Lee (shocked): That is unforgivable!
Tsunade: Once these men have regained their strength, your objective is to escort them back to the Kadabami Mine and take out the Kurosuki family. A simple mission, really. They are probably just a pack of money-grabbing hoodlums.
Naruto (annoyed): So, what am I doing here? It sounds like a chickadee on this mission.
Tsunade (glaring at Naruto): Who the heck do you think you are?
Naruto (annoyed): Come on, grandma, I have enough on my plate now, with training and looking for Sasu-
Tsunade interrupts as she grabs his collar, and she shouts, You think you get to call the shots around here, you pipsqueak? You’re a genin. You will take on whatever mission I give you. I’ll send you back to the academy so fast that your head will spin. Neji Hyuga!
Neji: Yes
Tsunade: You’re the team leader.
She tossed Naruto at Neji.
Tsunade: It’ll be good training for you to try to tame the untenable
Neji: I’d rather not, but I’ll give it a go.
From the dialogue, we learn that the Kadabami Gold Mine is one of the most abundant mines in the land of rivers. Moreover, the Kurosuki family is one of the antagonists in this episode, as is evident when they are killing people left and right. Tsunade believes it will be a simple mission and thinks they are just a bunch of money-grabbing thieves. However, only time will tell the extent of this mission. It can be a simple mission, or it could prove to be dangerous for the genin. Moreover, Naruto thinks it’s a waste of time and wants to focus on his training and finding Sasuke. Despite that, Tsunade was adamant that Naruto would take part in this mission, whether he liked it or not.
However, when Guy reveals information that the leader of the Kurosuki Family, Raiga, relates to the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist, Naruto decides to change his mind since Zabuza Momochi and Kisame Hoshigaki of Akatsuki are each part of the group. Lee concludes that, as Kisame is Itachi’s partner, finding Itachi may bring them closer to Sasuke. At Ramen Ichiraku, Lee told Naruto everything Guy mentioned about the Kurosuki family and how it is linked to Zabuza and Kisame. Since Kisame is Itachi’s partner, it means that finding Itachi will bring them closer to finding Sasuke. Lee says that the Gold Mine is the perfect place to pick up Sasuke’s trail again. If Kisame, Zabuza, and Raiga are part of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist, who are the other four? It leaves the audience with questions that may be revealed later or in the other anime, Naruto Shippuden.
With Neji, Lee, and Tenten as his allies, the group goes on their new mission. When they left the Hidden Leaf Village, along the way, they came across a curry shop known as Curry of Life. The spicy curry lady named Sanshō knows Rock Lee. Might Guy and Rock Lee might train by running each day to the extent that they would run while they were sleeping. She and her grandson, Karashi, would watch them with admiration each day, admiring their work ethic. One day, while Lee was running in his sleep, he passed out while he was close to the curry shop. Sanshō and her grandson fed him very spicy curry to wake him up, and now, in the present, Sanshō feeds everyone with her spicy curry.
While everyone is eating, Lee asks Sanshō about Karashi’s whereabouts. She is disheartened as she responds by saying that Karashi was moved by their work ethic, and he left the curry shop to join the Kurosuki family. As a result, Lee blames himself, so he requests that Neji incorporate the rescue of Karachi into their mission. Neji agrees. The situation has now become even more complex since they not only have to return the three men to the mine and take out the Kurosuki family, but they also must save Karachi from the family. Therefore, the mission must become a success, no matter what.
Uplifting music plays in the background with a mix of drums and electric guitar. Neji said that they would use the shop as the base of their operations and start scouting the village, then come up with a strategy to make their move. Neji instructs the three men to stay behind; if they face the Kurosuki family, things will get unpredictable. Neji, in this case, proves to be a strategist; he is almost like Shino and Shikamaru, as they all think about the situation and come up with solutions.
Despite Neji’s instructions, one of the men, named Roukusuke, is gone. He has gone to town alone, so the Genin have no choice but to proceed with the mission without any plan. Roukusuke wants to save a comrade named Kankatchi, who is held hostage by the Kurosuki family. The episodes end with someone saying, “Someone is coming,” and another person says, “What a pity; it seems we’ll be holding yet another funeral.” These two mysterious voices are no doubt members of the Kurosuki family. What will happen next? This will be revealed in the next episode.
