The reason they are fighting in the first place is because in between the vessels there is a blackhole, which is the only thing powering there vessels through Hawking Radiation. The blackhole is slowly but surely decaying, so they have to fight for resources, but if they both touch each other, they will both “cancel out” I.e: die.
