Naila's Apartment - Morning

Naila woke up feeling... different. She stared at the ceiling, thinking about her life. She was always lazy. Always nice. Always too tired to cause trouble.

She walked to the mirror and practiced her evil laugh.

Alice was bouncing around as usual. "Good morning, everyone! I have so much energy today! I feel like I could—"

Naila walked over and took Alice's coffee. Without asking. Without saying anything.

Alice stared at her empty hands. "Naila? What are you—"

Naila took a sip of the coffee. Then she handed the empty cup back to Alice.

"Get me a new one," she said flatly.

Alice blinked. "What?"

"You heard me."

"Since when do you order me around?!"

"Since today. I'm a villain now."

Alice's jaw dropped. "You're WHAT?"

"A villain. Now get me coffee."

Chima was watching from a distance. "Is she serious?"

Fatimah shrugged. "I don't know. But I'm intrigued."

Campus - Throughout the Day

Naila was fully committed to her villain era.

She walked past Wony and stepped on her perfectly polished shoes.

"Oops," Naila said, not sounding sorry at all.

Wony gasped. "THOSE ARE DESIGNER!"

"Not anymore."

She walked past Fatimah and took her notes.

"These are mine now."

"But those are my study notes!"

"And now they're my study notes."

"What are you going to do with them?"

"I don't know. Burn them. Maybe."

"NAILA!"

She walked past Chima and poked her in the arm.

"Ow! Naila! What was that for?!"

"I felt like it."

"That's not a reason!"

"It's my reason. Accept it."

Chima stared at her. "What is wrong with you?"

"I'm a villain now. And villains don't need reasons."

Campus Courtyard - Afternoon

Naila was sitting on a bench, looking pleased with herself.

"This is great," she said. "I should have done this years ago."

Fatimah approached carefully. "Naila. Why are you doing this?"

Naila smiled. "Because being nice is exhausting. Being evil? Easy. I don't have to do anything. I just have to be mean."

"That's... not how being a villain works."

"It is for me."

"You're just being rude."

"That's the point."

Wony walked over. "You stepped on my shoes earlier."

"Yes. And I'll do it again."

"I'll make you pay for that."

"How? You're too elegant to fight."

Wony opened her mouth. Then closed it. Opened it again.

"That's... actually true."

"Exactly. I win."

Campus Field - Evening

Naila was at her most villainous. She had taken everyone's snacks. She had hidden Alice's phone. She had switched Wony's skincare with hand soap.

And she was loving it.

"This is amazing," she said. "I feel powerful. I feel strong. I feel—"

Water hit her face.

SPLASH!

Naila sputtered. "WHAT—"

Fatimah was standing there, holding an empty water bottle. Her expression was calm but firm.

"Enough."

Naila wiped her face. "You... you sprayed me!"

"Yes. You needed to cool down."

"I'm not hot! I'm evil!"

"You're ridiculous."

Chima was laughing. "FATIMAH! YOU SPRAYED NAILA!"

"She deserved it."

Alice was filming. "NAILA GOT WATERED! THIS IS THE BEST DAY!"

Naila glared at them. "I was being a villain!"

"You were being annoying," Fatimah said.

"There's a difference!"

Naila was dripping wet, but she refused to give up.

"I'm still a villain," she declared. "Water doesn't change that."

Fatimah raised an eyebrow. "Really?"

"Yes!"

"Then you won't mind being sprayed again?"

"I—"

Naila screamed. "FATIMAH!"

"I was just testing your villain resolve."

"It's still here!"

"Good for you."

SPLASH!

"STOP!"

"Are you still a villain?"

"YES!"

SPLASH!

"OKAY, OKAY! I GIVE UP!"

Fatimah lowered the bottle. "You're done?"

"I'm done. I'm soaking wet. And I'm tired."

"So you're back to normal?"

Naila sighed. "Yes. Back to normal. I'm too tired to be evil."

Chima laughed. "That's the most Naila thing you've ever said."

"I know."

Campus Cafe - Evening

Naila was wrapped in a towel, still drying off. Her friends were sitting around her.

"I can't believe you sprayed me with water," she said.

Fatimah shrugged. "You were being annoying."

"I was being a villain."

"You were being annoying."

Alice was still filming. "This is going viral! Naila's villain era ends in water!"

"Alice, stop recording."

"NEVER!"

Chima was still laughing. "I can't believe you lasted a whole day."

"It was fun," Naila admitted. "But exhausting."

Wony nodded. "Being evil takes energy."

"Too much energy. I'm sticking to being lazy."

"Good choice."

Naila smiled. "Thanks for bringing me back."

Fatimah smiled back. "Anytime."

Naila's Apartment - Night

Naila was lying on her couch, finally dry, warm, and relaxed.

She thought about her villain era. It had been fun. But it had been too much work.

Being lazy was easier. Being nice was easier.

Being herself was easiest.

"Never again," she said to herself. "I'm staying lazy forever."

She closed her eyes and fell asleep.

And dreamed of being a villain again.

But in her dream, she was too tired to do anything evil.

So she just took a nap.
