Naila's Room - Afternoon
The afternoon sun streamed through the curtains, casting warm light across Naila's cluttered desk. She was sitting in her usual position, slouching in her chair, barely awake, but her hand was moving across the paper with surprising skill.
She was drawing.
This was rare. Naila rarely had the energy to do anything, let alone create art. But today, inspiration had struck.
The drawing was of a girl with long, flowing black hair, adorned with a silver headband. Around her neck hung a delicate treble clef pendant. Her eyes were large and expressive, her smile confident and slightly mischievous.
Naila added the final touches, then leaned back to admire her work.
"Not bad," she mumbled. "For someone who's always tired."
Suddenly, the drawing began to glow.
Naila blinked. "What the..."
The light grew brighter. Brighter. Until it was almost blinding.
Then, the figure in the drawing stepped out of the paper.
Naila stared.
The girl was standing in the middle of the room, tall, elegant, with flowing black hair and sparkling eyes. She was wearing exactly what Naila had drawn: a silver headband, a treble clef necklace, and a stylish outfit that looked like it belonged on a runway.
She stretched her arms dramatically. "Finally! I've been stuck in that paper for way too long!"
Naila was frozen. "What... what are you?"
The girl placed a hand on her hip, her head tilted with confidence. "I'm Gerlie! You drew me. So technically..." She pointed at Naila. "You're my mama!"
Naila blinked. "Mama?"
"Yes! You created me! That makes you my mama!"
Naila was still processing. "I'm... a mama. To a drawing that came to life."
Gerlie nodded enthusiastically. "Exactly! And I'm going to be the best daughter you've ever had!"
Naila lay her head on the desk. "I'm too tired for this."
Gerlie patted her head. "Don't worry, Mama! I'll take care of everything!"

Living Room - 30 Minutes Later
Naila had somehow managed to drag herself to the living room, with Gerlie bouncing behind her.
The others were scattered around: Fatimah reading, Chima on her phone, Wony doing her skincare, and Alice bouncing around like usual.
"Hey, Naila!" Alice called out. "Who's your friend?"
Everyone looked up.
Gerlie struck a pose. "Hello, everyone! I'm Gerlie! I'm Naila's daughter!"
Dead silence.
Chima blinked. "Your... daughter?"
"Yes!" Gerlie beamed. "Mama drew me, and I came to life!"
Wony paused her skincare. "Did you just say she drew you and you came to life?"
"Yes! It was magical! Awesome, I know!"
Fatimah set down her book. "Naila... what happened?"
Naila shrugged. "I drew a picture. It glowed. She stepped out. Now she's here."
"That's it?"
"That's it."
Gerlie twirled around. "I'm a Diva! I'm Coquettish! I'm everything Mama wanted to be but was too lazy to try!"
Naila nodded. "She's not wrong."
Chima stared at the girl. "She's... a lot."
"I know! I'm awesome!"
Fatimah approached carefully. "Okay, Gerlie. How exactly did you come to life?"
Gerlie tapped her chin. "I don't know! One moment I was on paper, the next I was HERE! Maybe it was magic! Maybe it was destiny! Maybe it was just Mama's amazing artistic skills!"
Naila shrugged again. "I just drew her. I didn't expect this."
Gerlie wrapped an arm around Naila. "That's what makes you the best Mama! You create magic without even trying!"
Alice was already filming. "THIS IS AMAZING! A DRAWING CAME TO LIFE!"
Gerlie posed for the camera. "Make sure you get my good side! Actually, all sides are good! Awesome, I know!"
***
Gerlie was, to put it simply, a lot.
She was dramatic. She was confident. She was Coquettish in a way that made everyone slightly uncomfortable.
And she kept calling Naila "Mama."
"Hey, Mama!" Gerlie called out from the kitchen. "What do you want for dinner? I can cook!"
Naila groaned. "Don't cook. You'll burn the house down."
"I won't burn it down! I'm amazing!"
"You've been alive for two hours!"
"And I've already mastered everything! Awesome, I know!"
Chima was watching from the corner. "She's... a handful."
Fatimah nodded. "Very much."
Wony examined Gerlie from a distance. "Her sense of style is impeccable. But her personality is... overwhelming."
Alice, of course, loved her. "GERLIE! DO YOU WANT TO DO A TIKTOK WITH ME?!"
"Of course! I'm a natural performer!"
They started dancing. Gerlie was surprisingly good.
Naila watched from the couch, her face blank. "I created a monster."
"A beautiful, talented monster!" Gerlie called back.
***
Gerlie was also incredibly blunt.
She walked past Wony and stopped. "Your skincare routine is good. But you could do better."
Wony blinked. "Excuse me?"
"I'm just saying! You need more hydration! And your eyeliner could be sharper! But it's okay. I can help you!"
"I don't need help!"
"Everyone needs help! Awesome, I know!"
She turned to Chima. "You're fierce! I love it! But you need to smile more!"
Chima's jaw dropped. "I smile!"
"You smile like you're angry!"
"I'm always angry!"
"Exactly! You should fix that!"
She looked at Fatimah. "You're the mom friend! I'm the daughter friend! We'll get along great!"
Fatimah sighed. "I already have a mom friend. I don't need another one."
"Too late! I'm here!"
She finally turned to Alice. "You're chaotic! I love it! We're going to be best friends!"
Alice squealed. "YES! WE ARE!"
Gerlie clapped her hands. "This is going to be AMAZING! Awesome, I know!"
***
Gerlie quickly became the center of attention.
She insisted on doing everyone's makeup. She somehow convinced Wony to try a new lipstick color. She taught Chima a "confidence pose." She made Fatimah laugh with a silly joke.
And she wouldn't stop calling Naila "Mama."
"Mama, can I borrow your phone?"
"Fine."
"Mama, can I have some snacks?"
"Go ahead."
"Mama, can I redecorate your room?"
"No."
"Fine, I'll do it anyway!"
Naila sighed. "I need a nap."
Gerlie patted her head. "Sleep, Mama! I'll handle everything!"
"That's what I'm afraid of."
Alice was filming everything. "GERLIE! SAY YOUR LINE!"
Gerlie struck a pose. "AWESOME, I KNOW!"
Alice cheered. "PERFECT! THIS IS GOING VIRAL!"
Wony inspected her new lipstick. "I hate to admit it... but this color does look good."
"Of course it does! I picked it! Awesome, I know!"
***
As the sun set, Gerlie finally sat down, exhausted but still smiling.
"This was the best day ever!" she announced. "I have a Mama! I have friends! I have a life!"
Naila looked at her. "You've been alive for six hours."
"And I've done more than most people do in a lifetime!"
"That's... probably true."
Gerlie leaned against Naila. "Thank you, Mama. For creating me."
Naila paused. Then, softly, she said, "You're welcome."
Gerlie beamed. "I knew you'd say that! Awesome, I know!"
Chima shook her head. "I can't believe this."
"What?" Fatimah asked.
"Naila created a perfect replica of herself but with energy."
Naila looked offended. "I have energy."
"Only when threatened!"
"That's not true!"
"Remember the haunting? When you were too lazy to fight the ghost?"
"That was strategic!"
Gerlie laughed. "Mama, you're my hero!"
"Stop calling me Mama."
"Never! Awesome, I know!"
***
Gerlie was finally asleep (yes, drawings that came to life also needed sleep) curled up on the couch with a blanket.
The others were gathered in the kitchen.
Chima whispered. "She's going to be a handful."
Fatimah nodded. "A huge handful."
Wony was still admiring her lipstick. "But she has good taste."
Alice was still buzzing. "She's PERFECT! She's like me but with more confidence!"
"That's terrifying," Chima said.
Naila looked at them. "What do I do? She's just... here now."
Fatimah patted her shoulder. "You take care of her. She's your creation."
"I didn't mean to create a living person!"
"Too late! She's here!"
Naila sighed. "I'm so tired."
"Welcome to motherhood," Fatimah said with a smirk.
Naila stared at her. "I'm not a mother."
"Gerlie calls you 'Mama.'"
"She's wrong."
"Is she?"
Naila opened her mouth. Closed it. Then, quietly, she smiled.
"Maybe not."89Please respect copyright.PENANAxvqZkXbc24
