"I'm done being charged with these kids Nolan." "Well don't blame me, it's Seraphina you have to take this up with!" Nolan replied with a tone of indifference in his voice, "Yeah well I'm not happy about it, ill do it but this is the last one okay!" "Whatever makes you happy violet, nice hair by the way." Nolan said slightly muffled as he was taking a bag out of the back seat of his light blue 2021 Porsche Taycan he then handed it to Violet Got in his driver's seat closed the door and as he drove away called back, "Be careful with that one he's a flight risk!" and as Violet turned to see where the kid had gone he was on her motorbike a 1984 Harley XR1000 kicking up the brake clipping on the dark glossy black full face helmet and sped away in seconds. At least he put on the helmet violet though before realizing she now needed to chase the kid to take him back to her place before he had to go to school the next morning. 141Please respect copyright.PENANAPFcPEyUBw5
There wasn't much in this town centre where the drop off point had been set up other than the land marker which was a clock tower and a fountain. 141Please respect copyright.PENANAqtSiDZfmIn
Opening the bag and rifling through it violet found clothes, some books and a pocket watch "perfect!" she exclaimed. Checking around to see if anyone was looking, Violet took the watch, opened it to the clock face, waved her hand in a circular motion above it and muttered, "Heart that held this watch in time, Turn your hand and answer mine." a purple shimmering mist spilled around concealing it and when that cleared the clock hands were facing the direction he had ridden. 141Please respect copyright.PENANATXnalvR6xR
The day was turning from perfect blue sky to over cast and gloomy as violet didn't want to be looking all night she zipped up the leather duffle bag swung it over her shoulder took her silver aviator sunglasses from where they were hung on her deep red tank top in the middle of her chest placed them on her nose and set off at a brisk walk. 141Please respect copyright.PENANACP8aTab2GF
Nolan must have thought it really funny that she was now aimlessly running around London after this kid, it was a running joke that she had no people skills and yet could still straighten out a kid no problem. To Violet People were a waste of time and in her line of work sometimes they didn't come back so less friends the better.141Please respect copyright.PENANAAjXAI0j0f0
When she hit a fork in the straight road she had been following, Violet checked the watch again to see it pointing east so she took the right road and at every side road she came across she double checked the watch to make sure she wasn't going in the wrong direction. It finally led to this sketchy part of town and Violet was glad she had worn her biker jacket and the bullet proof vest Cora was always insisting she wore for safety.141Please respect copyright.PENANAQAGrUg9thH
It was like this place was in a different world; everything was extremely dark and unclean. Unlike the streets she had been jogging through which were right out of a magazine, the faint feeling she was being watched was extremely unsettling. Glancing one more time at the watch which pointed into a seemingly abandoned building Violet stored it in the inside pocket with her phone and earphones, she then tightened her grip on the bag Handel and pushed open the door it made this awful creaking sound as she slipped inside. 141Please respect copyright.PENANAk2TnbaonIY
The entry way had white tiled flooring which made every step in her boots sound squeaky, the walls were a sickening mint green colour with dark brown oak wood skirting boards and a matching dado railing. The stairs were carpeted down the middle with a polished wooden banister and everything was begging to smell faintly of cigarette smoke and alcohol which was not at all appealing. The lighting was flickery and yellow right out of a horror movie. Violet walked up the stairs cautiously thinking to herself if this were a horror movie people would have been yelling at the TV saying, “why would you have gone in that scary abandoned building are you crazy!” 141Please respect copyright.PENANAedBBbFssf0
Straining her ears for any sound but every floor she came too seemed deserted with the stained red carpet and no lighting until she reached the 9th floor which had stains running down the walls and there were voices carrying through the hall as she walked to the end most of the doors were wide open or hanging of the hinges but there was this one door which was closed and as violet pushed against it it was locked, she pressed her ear against the key hole and there were definitely people inside three males roughly sixteen to eighteen and five females fifteen to seventeen.141Please respect copyright.PENANAh3Faq4c11w
Violet had options now either she could go about this calmly and rationally or she could burst in demand her bike back and forcefully take the kid home, deciding that he would probably see her as a push over or weak if she asked politely so Violet went with the latter she held the gold coloured door knob and whispered, “What was shut, now open wide; let no hidden latch abide.” The door knob was encased in a grainy red mist and with a turn of her wrist the door unlocked with a click and violet walked strongly inside. As she slammed the door behind her every one inside looked startled and upon seeing violet standing there the girls peeled away from the boys and stood up abruptly. “Good news, Hale. I found you. Bad news, Hale. I found you.” Violet said, chucking the bag at his feet and smiled. The room had peeling 1970s wallpaper covered in dust and cobwebs, the floor was blue carpeted and they had been sitting on three small gray sofas which had seen better days clearly scratched up by stray cats and they were watching some old cartoon on a 1970s box TV. The two boys who weren't Hale put out their cigarettes and looked at violet menacingly which might have scared a normal person but she could take care of herself. "Go home girls." Violet said sternly. With no second look they climb one by on out the smashed window and disappeared. "You track me here and then make my girls leave I knew you wouldn't be cool." Hale frowned, rolling his eyes, "You took my motorbike!" Violet sniped back "You tracked me here because of a bike?" he smirked "No Hale I tracked you because you took off. Taking my bike just made it personal!" Violet said matter of factly forcing down her annoyance,"I only borrowed it!" Hale scoffed defensively, “You think you're all that with those two around and also this place it's a horrible hideout if this is where you spend your time no wonder the girls didn't argue about staying, or was that just because they finally had an excuse to leave you." Violet snorted, now wandering over to the window and looking down into the alley way below. Her bike was sitting in roughly the same condition she had been taken in. "We are leaving so get your bag I won't ask again." Violet demanded. Hale rolled his eyes and clearly thinking he was funny, said, "Make me!" Violet finding no humor in it marched right up to him picked him up of the sofa to uproar from the other two guys, took the hand cuffs from her back pocket and cuffed his wrists together picked up the bag and forced him out the door down the stairs and into the street she then pulled him around the corner where she found the alley he had parked her bike clipped the helmet on his head and rode off. 141Please respect copyright.PENANA3BAx21FkwZ
It took an hour longer than it would have been from the town square to get home and they had to stop at a station to fill it up with petrol because it was running low. When they pulled up to her block of flats and she parked up Hale he was clearly more annoyed than ever which made him snippy and he said "I would have thought someone of your degree would have somewhere better to live or do they not pay you enough at the organization you work for. Seraphina cutting your wages too?" Violet didn't indulge his remarks, yanked off the helmet and dragged him to the door she punched in the code more violently than she intended. The door opened with a buzz and the chemical smell of cleaning supplies hit them. She took to the stairs holding tight to his hand cuffs up to the sixth floor. She opened the first door down the right corridor into her flat. It wasn't much the living room to the immediate right with the bedroom door and bathroom door closed and two the left the kitchen and the office which had a murphy bed pulled down next to the desk book shelves everywhere and a small tv. Violet pointed to the bathroom and the office and said, "Bathroom there, there is a toilet shower and sink and in the office there is a desk for you to do school work and a bed to sleep in eat anything out of the fridge the tap in the kitchen leaks so make sure you turn the handle all the way so you don't waist water and the tv has some channels but the dvd player works so take your pick I have multiple DVDs." Violet then locked the door, put on the chain, unlocked his hand cuffs and dumped his bag at the door to the office. She dropped her helmet on the table behind the sofa and then went into the bathroom and took a speedy shower before changing into her comfy flannel shirt and pajama shorts with fluffy slippers. 141Please respect copyright.PENANAOXnatP8Kh5
For dinner violet peeled potatoes which she boiled and mashed them with some butter and milk, she cooked four small chicken breasts she dished up half the mash into a bowl cut up two of the chicken pieces and chucked the chunks on top grinded some pepper and hit a table spoon full of branston pickle in mixed it together creating her comfort meal violet then knocked on the door of the office said, “There is mash and chicken if you want some in the kitchen help yourself.” Violet grabbed shredded cheese and went to the living room turned on the tv and listened to the news report while she ate her food, Finding it extremely Boring she turned the dial she had had Cora her best friend implanted in the back of the TV, there was a fuzzy static sound and the Chanel had changed. When Violet went back to the sofa to continue her meal she had caught the beginning of the inter realm broadcastings news show, "Good Evening everyone and welcome to IRB infer realm broadcasting live with Julian Stirling with tonight's top stories," the presenter said cheerily as he went on to talk about magical disturbances and cosmos interruptions. "You actually watch that crap seriously you just get less and less cool," Hale called from the kitchen as he had clearly snuck out to get food. "Dont worry Hale in won't make you watch it." Violet called back. "My name is Wes you don't have to call me by my last name forever." he said as he disappeared back into the office. 141Please respect copyright.PENANAhABeKpJPju
Violet finished her food washed up, turned the dial back to normal channels and turned off the TV she then called out "You should get some sleep you are going to school tomorrow no matter if you want to or not." She waited to hear no reply and so turned in for the night crashing in her warm cozy freshly made bed. 141Please respect copyright.PENANA5PeeTmBBIZ
The next morning was hell on Earth. Violet woke up before her alarm once again and so by the time six o’clock had finally rolled around she had already dressed in her white blouse, black blazer, with a matching black pencil skirt, and black heels. “Shade and hue, fade from sight;Wear the colours I choose today,” she said in the bathroom mirror bending her head down gliding her hands from the roots to the ends as a deep purple mist flowed from her hands as the hair waterfall from the fox hair colour into a dark cyber purple and when the mist dissipated she swung it up in a low bun with a silver french hair pin. The morning toast was slightly charred so she scraped off the burned crumbs into the sink with a knife and then buttered it to enjoy it while typing a first day incidents report on her 1996 toughbook 28 laptop, eventually she would get around to buying a newer model but it still worked so until it died she saw no point. By six thirty she knocked on the door to the office and spoke firmly, “Hale get up you have school!” there was a grunt of recognition which she chose to take as an Okay. Violet finished her report and sent it straight to Seraphina. By six fifty Wes still hadn't left his room so she knocked a little louder on his door, “ Hale get your ass up right now!” to her annoyance Wes replied with, “I’m good but glad you have a positive outlook on the day, mum.” the tone of mocking in the last word infuriated Violet, "Don't make me come in there Wesly Hale!” “Saying my full name isn’t going to make me do anything any more than just saying my first or last name on their own, love” Violet could almost feel his eyes rolling, “This attitude you have isn’t going to get you anywhere in life. Be dressed and out of there in ten or I'm coming in there and dragging you to school in whatever you have on, do you understand that!” Violet snapped, losing her patience. 141Please respect copyright.PENANAVgeiydFido
At seven o’clock Violet stuck to her word, she pushed open the door to find him sleeping in his clothes, strewn across the bed with the sheet half over his legs, she grabbed him by his jacket and t-shirt, pulling him up grabbing his baseball cap in the process, Violet dragged him into the kitchen where she put a slice of buttered toast into his hand and then turning out the lights in the flat she pulled him out the door back down the stairs and out into the cold street, “Aren’t we taking your bike?” Wes asked muffled as he was eating the buttered toast, groaning as Violet still hadn’t let go of his jacket, “No, we are not, I’m not riding my bike to Ravenscroft Academy, Mrs Whinsdale would definitely have my head.” “Then where are we going? We can’t be walking there? Could we?” Wes sounded worried at the last question, “No we aren’t walking, I had Nolan pull some strings.” Violet reassured him and as they rounded the end of the street there was a black limousine with two men standing next to it on the curb one was in a tailored suit and was wearing a chauffeur peaked cap while the other was wearing a black leather jacket with a white t-shirt and jeans. Once they had joined the men the chauffeur opened the back door and gestured for them to get in, Violet made wes get in first followed by Nolan and then she climbed in pulling the door shut. As they started to drive Nolan spoke, “You're late.” His deep gruff voice sent chills down Violet's spine but her retort had been bubbling since Wes had argued with her, “Yeah well Mr righteous over there didn’t want to get up.” she nodded towards wes who was fiddling with his cap and staring out the window at the now fast disappearing houses.Nolan sniggered under his breath and Violet shot him a sharp glare. “You could at least have dressed appropriately.” If looks could kill Nolan would have been very close to death, “I don't go to school there anymore what exactly could Mrs Whinsdale do to me.” Nolan was now fully laughing not even trying to hide it, “She wouldn’t do anything to her favourite student, no but she will blame me for not making you look presentable, it's like she thinks I could have any control over what you wear.” “Hey, you were the one who forced me to wear my uniform properly when we did attend.” Violet's mood did not improve as rain started to hammer against the windows, “Here have a glass of champagne,”Nolan handed her a glass and out of the middle seat he pulled a green bottle, “There is no way I am drinking before meeting Mrs Whinsdale!” Violet handed him back the glass and gave him a questioning look, “you are too uptight, ill have one.” Wes interjected, “There is no way you are having a glass when you are barely sixteen.” Violet took the bottle from Nolan and put it in the holder in the door next to her leg, “You are no fun.”Nolan joked, "At least I understand the risks and the law. Seraphina would have my job if she found out!” Violet hissed. 141Please respect copyright.PENANAhyKFuthWxX
As the houses were replaced with vast fields and the countryside Violet settled into her seat leaning her head against the cold tinted window, watching as the rain drops cascaded. “Have you heard from Cora?” Nolan asked wearily. “Last I heard from her she was still looking over some samples I sent her.” Violet mumbled and the window steamed up from her breath, she drew a smile face in the condensation before it dissipated. “We will check in with her then when we go to head quarters,” Nolan was now tapping his foot against the floor in an old rhythm which they had invented to send each other messages, “Seraphina has a mission but she wants me to go with you as she is earring on the side of caution as she thinks it could get dicey,” he said, Violet showed no outward signs of having received a message but replied to the comment about Cora, “If we are stopping by the labs I want to see Ffion and Albion they owe me a favour and I have something they need to take a look at.” Nolan nodded in reply and followed by Violet nodding solemnly in recognition. 141Please respect copyright.PENANATVqzq5O3uZ
The rain subsided as they pulled into a parking lot, “Where are we?” Wes asked. Violet raised her eyebrows and had to control her facial expressions as her jaw dropped, “This is stonehenge.” The driver had got out and opened the door for them holding an umbrella to allow them to exit under cover from the rain. “I know it’s Stonehenge. I read the sign, but why?” wes said exasperated, “You will see buddy don’t worry.” Nolan yawned, stretching his arms. Violet took the umbrella and thanked the driver before he got back in the car and drove away. Nolan showed his watch to Violet who shook her head in frustration, “We have ten minutes to get through the gait otherwise he will be late.” “It’s only eight thirty we have made good time.” Nolan rolled his eyes, “You two act like you're dating or something.” Wes snorted. Nolan laughed awkwardly and rubbed the back of his neck while Violet jumped on the defensive, “We do not!" “One protests too much,” Wes was now having a laughing attack. “Don’t let him get to you hun.” Nolan mocked “Don’t you start!” Violet playfully shoved Nolan out of her way. 141Please respect copyright.PENANAR0blB8pQ9Y
They made it to the visitor center and Nolan went into a back room returning with a guy dressed all in black with a matching cap and his purple lanyard said, Lei Hú, “Violet this is Lei he can drive the shuttle to the stones and it will only take five minutes.” Lei Hú half waved and smiled, “You are here before opening time so nobody will be up there either.” which was music to Violet's ears, “let’s get going then.”
