My name is Catherine Victoria Christie, and for my Senior Project, I plan to participate in an internship. For a long time now, since 4th Grade, I’ve had a high appreciation for writing. When I graduate from both high school and college, I hope to become a writer. The only way to become a writer, though, is to gain some experience from the career itself. This is where my topic comes in play. My Senior Project, my planned internship, is writing for a local neighborhood magazine. In my case, it’s the Chanticleer Courier. I would like to explore my neighborhood and interview different kids about distinctive experiences they’ve had, for example, if they went on a trip they really enjoyed or won first place in the Spelling Bee, and write articles about them. I’m planning on writing a few articles every month.
During this internship, I hope to improve my communication skills, which I find challenging, and become a better writer. I’ll also be able to explore the different styles and types of writing writers offer, and hopefully, it will help me decide whether I'm really meant to be a writer.
There are lots of things I hope to learn from this internship. Better writing and communication skills are only a few. I also hope to learn about the different fun activities that go on in a child’s life.
With this internship, I hope to prove to the world that yes, everybody is different.
