It is hard to believe this is already Reflection Four. I feel like it was just yesterday that I started writing for the Chanticleer Courier. This has been a very good experience for me, though. I know I have learned a lot, and I know there is a lot more for me to learn. Working on my project for the past ten days has really excited me. After the little mix-up with the October edition, it finally came out, and I saw my Colorful Victoria and short story, Istaqa, published. I heard that many people enjoyed my articles, so I feel even better now.
Over the past ten days, I also managed to get my next two articles published in the November edition, and I started brainstorming for two articles that will appear in the December edition. While I will not have the December edition with me when the portfolio is due, I will still have what I wrote for it, which will be just as good.
I feel that I have really improved my communication and creativity skills throughout this project. I hardly ever feel shy anymore when I head over and talk to my mentor, Mrs. Douglas. This shows me I have improved both socially and emotionally. I am also no longer shy about talking to other people about including them in an article in the Courier, and I can carry on a conversation pretty easily with Mrs. Douglas. In terms of my creativity, I feel that, even though I am already really creative, I have become even better at it and at writing. Journalism is nonfiction, and I have learned that it is not fun when journalists write articles that lack creativity. Articles like this will really make the reader uninterested, and I do not want that to happen with my articles. I want them to be both informative and fun to read, and I feel I have succeeded in this regard.
The next steps for my Senior Project are very straightforward. I need to gather everything I have done for it and put together my portfolio and final product. I also really need to find someone to interview, because I do. The only downside is that everyone I have e-mailed and asked to interview never replied. Hopefully, though, I will find someone very soon, and hopefully they will hook me up with other people I can interview fairly quickly. If I accomplish these tasks, my Senior Project will be a masterpiece, and that will be very exciting for me.
