The air hummed with a strange, harmonic resonance as the heat of Konone’s fire and the chill of Yui’s ice swirled together. The despair that had paralyzed the park began to crack like thinning ice under a midday sun.
Konone stood up, pulled to her feet by Yui’s steady grip. The flickering ember in her Fire Card suddenly roared back to life, fueled by the "Hope" Yui had just sparked.
"You’re right," Konone whispered, her eyes burning with renewed fury. "It’s not over. As long as there is a spark, the fire can return!"
The Void Monster, sensing its advantage slipping away, let out a desperate, earth-shaking roar. Its glass armor expanded, growing jagged spikes as it lunged forward for one final, crushing blow.
"Together, Yui!" Konone commanded.
"Right!"
They moved in perfect synchronization. Konone took the lead, her boots trailing flames as she leaped into the air. "Blazing Punches!" She delivered a flurry of strikes, each hit sounding like a hammer on an anvil, shattering the monster’s outer shell and exposing its dark, hollow core.
The monster stumbled back, its frame fracturing. This was the opening.
Yui stepped forward, her ice rapier glowing with a brilliant, freezing light. She took a deep breath, the "Happy-Go-Lucky" girl replaced by a warrior of absolute focus. She slid across the pavement, her blade carving a path of frost.
"Blazing Ice... ICE BLADE SLASH!"
She swung the rapier in a wide, shimmering arc. A wave of crystalline energy tore through the monster's core, freezing the dark static instantly. For a heartbeat, the monster stood like a grotesque ice statue, then—shatter.
The creature exploded into a thousand harmless sparkles. As the darkness vanished, a small, glowing object drifted down from the sky. Yui reached out, catching it. It was a new Heart Card, pulsing with a gentle, golden light.
"We... we did it?" Yui asked, her transformation fading as she looked around. The color was returning to the park. The birds began to chirp, and the people started to wake up, rubbing their eyes as if they’d only had a bad dream.
"We purified it," Konone said, her voice soft. She looked at Yui with a mix of awe and sadness. "But it's only the beginning, Yui. There are twelve of those cards... and we aren't the only ones looking for them."
Before Yui could ask what she meant, a sudden, violent crack of purple lightning split the sky.
High above them, standing on the rim of the park’s clock tower, was a figure that made Konone’s blood run cold. It was a girl clad in dark, regal armor, her hair flowing like a storm cloud. Her eyes, once warm and familiar, were now a cold, hypnotic violet.
"Mahiru...?" Konone’s voice broke.
The figure didn't answer. She raised a hand, lightning crackling between her fingers. Beside her stood two shadows—Eza and Guwamu—looking down at the duo with hollow, brainwashed grins.
Blazing Arcana looked directly at Konone, her expression void of any recognition. "The King wants the cards," she said, her voice a monotone echo. "And I will erase anyone who stands in his way."
With a final flash of lightning, the villains vanished, leaving Yui and Konone alone in the park.
