I blushed and looked away. The King, my father, had just called me a miracle. No one had ever said such kind words since my family was killed, well my guys had, but they weren't parental figures. I was so moved I wanted to cry and scream. Someone cared about me. Ashmoder huffed and slammed his hands on the floor beside Ruan's head, breaking the floor and forming cracks all over the beautiful black marble ground. Ruan started laughing while looking at Ashmoder, but instead of responding with violence like I thought he would Ashmoder just got up and walked right to me.

Ashmoder's face contorted with anger for a second and I flinched, backing away even more. He may have told me he loved me, but I knew it was all a lie. Since my parents had died no adult had ever taken care of me, and I knew what happened when you displeased them, but instead of getting angry and shouting or hitting me Ashmoder just walked away and sat on the floor with his knees closed and his hands turned into fists to his sides, not moving a single muscle and staying as still as a statue.

The other demons looked at the King, confused about what to do. Some began to murmur and whisper while others backed away slowly towards the door, not making a sound and avoiding eye contact with both Ashmoder, who was still on the floor, and Ruan, who had gotten up and was just behind the King, arms crossed and an amused expression on his face.

I took a peek at Ruan from behind Ashmoder and he smiled at me, showing me all his teeth, including his razor sharp fangs. I formed what I hoped was a smile to smile back at Ruan. It wouldn't be so bad to have someone on my side and looked back at Ashmoder, who was fuming and looking at Ruan as if murdering him was a real possibility, but instead of doing that he muttered something I didn't understand under his breath and all the other remaining demons in the room fell to the floor, dead.

As soon as I heard the first demon fall I turned around and saw that all of them had fallen dead to the floor, apparently for no reason whatsoever, but the grin on Ashmoder's face told another story. Just how powerful was he to be able to kill over a dozen demons with just his thoughts?

After shouting at Ruan for a while Ashmoder finally calmed down and throwing Ruan to the floor with an angry huff he turned to face me and his expression instantly changed, going from anger to love in a second.

As I looked at him with a confused expression, not understanding why he would say that, I wasn't jealous!, his lips turned upwards to form a smirk and he took his finger to his lips. The gesture was so familiar to me that it just made me wish my guys were here even more. Oscar loved to make that gesture. He loved secrets. I missed them. I had to find a way to get out of the castle.

I tugged on Ashmoder's long sleeve to get his attention, although I could've just grabbed any of his clothing. The dark burungdy long robe he was wearing complemented perfectly his light burgundy trousers, all of which were loosely hanging from Ashmoder's frame, making it impossible to tell if he was actually fit or not and whether he had muscles, even though my guess was that he had. He was the demon King after all, and I highly doubted they gave the position to just anyone.

I entered slowly, letting Ashmoder go in first. The moment my eyes fell to the bed I could tell the King knew some stuff about me. The bed was King sized and with a blue sheet all over it, as a matter of fact blue was everywhere. The walls were blue, the curtains were blue, even the bathtub, the biggest one I had ever seen, so big that I could even swim in it, was made out of blue marble. The toys spread all over the room were also blue with blue jewels in them. The toys went from plushies to big toy horses. It was a child's paradise, no doubt.

I watched Ashmoder smile from the corner of my eye as I took the rest of the room in. The closet was filled with dresses, skirts, pants, shirts, gowns... It was filled with all the clothes I would ever need. Most of them were different shades of blue along with a few green, pink and purple ones. There wasn't even a single red thing in sight. He knew I hated red and liked blue, things that only someone who knew me well would know. Maybe he did like me.

Ashmoder's words sent shivers down my spine, but not the good kind that my guys made me feel, they were that kind that made me wonder if I would live to see another day, but unlike his tone Ashmoder's words were kind. He just wanted to know how I got here, which taking into account the fact that he was the demon King and my supposed father he probably already knew. He knew that I was killed. His murderous gaze suddenly made a lot of sense. He wasn't mad at me, but rather at the people who had killed me, but just in case I was wrong I wasn't planning to stick around until morning.
