Samson kept walking, barely hearing what Dante was shouting. He heard his name though, but chose not to respond, feeling angry. In his anger, he didn’t sense the car speeding toward him to his right. Dante, however, saw it.
Dante: Amigo! Amigo, muevan! (Friend, move!) The car’s coming your way! Muevan!

Samson turned his head, but it was too late. The car hit him, the impact throwing him away. Samson fell with a thump, his legs snapping beneath him. The last thing he saw was Dante running towards him.

(In the hospital…)
Nurse: Doctor, the patient seems to be waking up.
Doctor: Good. Now, open your eyes wide, boy. Your MRI scan’s about to begin.
Samson: (struggles to open his eyes as he lays on the hospital bed) What’s going on? Ahh…my head…ahh...
Doctor: What’s going on? Hmm, you should even be dead by now, thank God He gave you such a strong body. A few bones in your legs are broken, but we’ve done surgery for that. Oh, and your ribs, left arm…yeah, those as well. We’re doing an MRI scan to confirm our work is done.
Samson: O…oh. What…?
Doctor: And oh, you won’t be able to use your legs for a while.
Samson: What? (sits up and feels a sharp pain in his chest. He wails but remains seated.) My volley finals is next week! How long will I not be able to use my legs?
Doctor: A month. Or two…or six, even.
Samson: A month... Man, can’t you sympathize with me?! Some ‘I’m sorry, you’ll get better’ would help, buh you’re just giving the facts to me straight! You’re too blunt!
Doctor: That’s what 35 years of working here does to you. (sighs and looks at his watch) Be expecting the nurse, she’ll help convey you to the lab for the scan. Give her NO trouble. I’ll take my leave then.
Samson: 35...what…wait. I... (The doctor leaves, slamming the door behind him. Samson slams his hand on the bed and shouts in agony.) How will I be able to participate in the finals then?!

Dante and Carter walked in, their worried faces filled with relief as they saw him seated on the bed.
Dante and Carter: Samson!
Dante: Oh, I’m so glad you’re okay.
Samson: I’m not ok.
Dante: Sorry?
Samson: I said I’m not ok!
Carter: Guy, chill! What do you mean you’re not ‘ok’?
Samson: The volley finals is next week, and I…can’t use my legs…
Dante: Oh…that, we have good news about. Do you remember that when you stormed out, you saw Coach walking in? He came to announce to us that he’ll be traveling for three weeks as the Head of the Volleyball Chair to make last-minute reservations for the event as some popular players may pass by, so…he, and the rest of the Chair have postponed the finals to a month’s time.
Samson: (widens his eyes in surprise) Really? That’s great news…(coughs)
Carter: Yeah, yeah, that is great news. Your legs can heal within that time.
Samson: Yeah… (coughs violently)
Dante: Sam, you ok? Rest on the bed. I think sitting up is too much for you right now. (Samson continues coughing violently, then finally removes his bandaged hand from his mouth) Sam…is that blood?
Carter: Sam, open your mouth. Now. (He opens his mouth) Jesus, Samson, your teeth are all bloody! Dante, call the doctor now! He’s coughing blood! (Dante rushes out)

Samson immediately started coughing again, this time, the amount of blood gushing forth was so immense that he had to face the floor. He started retching and Carter patted his back. Dante soon rushed in with the doctor.
Doctor: Shift aside, young boy! (To Carter) No, in fact, come back. Lay him on his bed! (He laid him on the bed) Now, he should stop coughing.

True to his word, Samson stopped coughing and passed out.
