- Please tell me this is normal... - Sebastian tried to move away from the robots, only to bump into more of them behind him.
- I think what Yasha told us clearly indicates that this is not normal - Arika tried to stay calm, but she probably won't stay like this for long, neither will we.
I wasn't sure how to react to the robots surrounding us. It seemed so surreal and almost impossible. As much influence as AI has, I never thought it would become aggressive without being programmed to. Here, it seemed that the androids had really gone rogue.22Please respect copyright.PENANARNx38CaobY
One of the robots pointed their right arm at me. I soon found out that somebody replaced it with a real laser blaster. The other bots had tools in their hands, but those could also harm people if used incorrectly.
It was obvious that we had to escape, but with being completely enveloped by the robot crowd, there was only one direction left for us: up.
There was a pub next to us and a tube stuck out of its wall. It was probaby a garbage disposal tube, similar to the one we passed by whilst jumping into the garbage truck. As the armed robot was about to fire, we climbed onto the tube. However, my left hand slipped off the pipe, leaving me dangling for life. The armed robot fired and the laser pellet hit another android thanks to our quick manouver. Several other androids attempted to pull me down while my friends tried to pull me up. I helped out my allies by kicking away a few bots. Because of this, those who were still standing by loosened their grasp and my friends pulled me onto the tube. With our team complete, we jumped onto the roof of the pub. Some of the robots started climbing after us.
Thanks to our evasive action, we now had a better view of the Orbital City. Strangely enough, the androids weren't attacking anyone. They were all coming after us.
- I'm getting the impression that the Perseids had programmed the bots to eliminate us - Claudius noted.
- It would make sense, considering that they already tried to kill us earlier - Amber replied - Hiya! - with a perfectly aimed kick, she knocked a robot off the roof. The other machines fell with him like vertical dominoes, giving us time.
However, more robots were coming and it was only a matter of time before at least some of them reached the roof, so we decided to leave, but not before strategizing. We decided to run to the nearest building, which was a toy store, and lock ourselves in there to buy us some more time, during which we'd get Einstein to call in reinforcements, perhaps unit 208. Additionally, Arika still had Alia's electroblade with her, thus we could use it against the bots. We jumped down from the building, which was risky, but far less risky than climbing down slowly and being quickly overpowered by the androids.22Please respect copyright.PENANAUaijqOzwZY
Arika instantly took out a few with the electroblade while Amber punched one directly in the monitor, rendering it effectively blind. It was now walking around without direction, making a few other robots stumble over it. Eventually, the bot Amber attacked was just constantly smacking into random walls, trying to back out and hitting other things along the way, confusing the people near it, as people were still here. Most of them were startled by the behaviour of the rogue bots. A man was complaining to a robotic waiter about waiting for his food for too long, only to be pushed away by the stampede of androids chasing us.
We finally reached the toy store. The shop owner was a robot that left the store to join the other machines, which was good for us. We snatched the keys from the desk and locked ourselves up. The robots tried to push through the door, but they couldn't, at least not now. They'll probably find a way in sooner or later.
For now, we hid from them behind a booth with plushies and I tried to contact Einstein and Yasha, but to my dismay, the camera fell out of my pocket while we were running. It was now on the floor between the pub and the toy store. There was no way for us to retrieve it without being attacked. We could only hear Einstein's muffled voice through the glass door.
- Kids, what's happening over there? - his concern was only growing bigger as he heard the mechanical stomping of robots - Kids, are you there?! Kids?!
- We're here, can you hear us?! - Sebastian shouted, but to no response. We considered leaving our shelter to grab the camera, but it was suddenly crushed by the robot with the laster blaster who ran over to break through the door. Our time in the toy store was running out when we noticed something strange.
A large teddy bear the size of a child hanging from a nearby stand seemed to move before being knocked off. We soon saw the culprit: Dawn.
- Hello, my friends! - she greeted us - Ready to be obliterated? - It seemed like she was waiting for us to be forced into the store by the bots outside.
- Absolutely not - Amber leaped forward, catching her by surprise. Dawn fell to the floor and retaliated with the massive teddy bear. Amber slipped on it, which allowed Dawn to get up. She picked up a toy gun and started shooting.
- Oh, the Perseids didn't give you a real weapon? - Claudius smiled.
- I barely got in touch with them after I fled your dingy space station! They just told me to hide here and wait for the robots to force you guys into here! Leonid just gave me a knife! How useless is this?! - Dawn fired again. The toy bullets were puny and didn't hurt, but the fact she had a knife was frightening.
- You know that a knife is far more dangerous that a toy rifle? - Amber laughed at her lack of knowledge.
- Oh, it is? Well, let's see - Dawn threw away the gun and pulled a real, shiny metal knife from her pocket.
- You didn't need to tell her that - Arika hissed. She put up the electroblade in a menacing manner.
- Oh, now who's got a toy weapon? - Dawn charged and tried to stab Arika, but she quickly jumped away. Dawn managed to cut a doll's dress.
Amber stood behind Dawn with Arika ready to strike with the blade. What we didn't expect was for Dawn to knock a plush snake off the shelf and climb onto it. She ran to the entrance, droppinng off several toys and jumped off to stab her knife into the glass door, allowing a robot to pick the lock. The robots now broke into the toy store, however, they managed to accidentally knock Dawn over in the process.
The armed bot fired another shot and damaged a generator and the store lights went off. Then, the generator exploded, blasting a hole into the wall. We escaped into the open. Dawn got up and was now chasing us with the army of robots. Fortunately, not all hope was lost.
It seemed that Einstein managed to bring in reinforcements, probably in fear of us dying. A fully armed commando squadron bursted into the Orbital City, destroying a few robots as they did. Dawn pulled a walkie talkie out of her other pocket and called someone, presumably Leonid. None of us could make out what she was saying, but it was a clear message for the villains. As the commandos began their assault on the hijacked robots, a loud rumble echoed throughout the whole city.22Please respect copyright.PENANAxD5ClYnjBO
Suddenly, we saw what the Perseids had in store as a counter to our commandos: a modern automated tank with a massive front barrel and several smaller ones around it.
We were in for a very intense battle.
