I couldn't ever get that job as an architect. In this world, architects are the best paying profession you can ask for. Engineers a close second. That is because the technology involving architectural construction is extremely advanced to the point we have the capability to hang buildings directly from the moon, and leave it in our atmosphere. While it is easy to get a job as one, the process for gaining a license to work as an engineer or architect is extremely difficult, and people rarely get into these jobs.
They are extremely sought after. A wage that could set you for life in just 5 years.71Please respect copyright.PENANA74lrw8JcKc

After he stormed up the stairs after talking to his boss, he felt an odd rumbling on the twisting staircase. almost as if an earthquake was happening in the hanging building in the sky. He began to fall backward, and toppled over the guard rail of the twisting staircase.
As he fell down dozens of floors, he saw the small glimmer of his new boss staring down at him as he fell on the floor, splatting all over the pavement on the bottom stair.
3 Months Before
"Th-Thank you sir! I will not make you regret hiring me!" The hire said, grabbing and shaking the bosses hand while shaking from a mix of fear, happiness, and shock.
"Do you remember how to use the bus port? Remember to not press the manual button on the bus as it is in flight." The boss says while searching through hundreds of application documents.
"Yes I do sir. Thank you again for this opportunity!" The hire says as he closes the door behind him swiftly and politely.
This Hire is named Enzo. A young man searching for a job in his constantly poor and sappy life, oh poor him. Nothing personal against him I swear.
In this world, while basic technology may not be super advanced, architectural technology is, and as I stated previously, we were able to create buildings that hung in earth's atmosphere from cables on the moon. This technology was developed and thoroughly investigated by a man with a damn near cult following, the god of architecture, Tom Gehry.
"Hey Enzo," A man with a burly brow and a wonky looking gray tie said, while gently tapping you on the shoulder. "You got the job?"
"I did. Again, thanks Cameron, I would've never found this job if it wasn't for you." Enzo says with a bright smile on his face. "Though, I am kinda afraid of working in a building.. Like this." Enzo says, looking out the window at his building tens of thousands of feet up in the sky.
"You get used to it, trust me mate." Cameron says before turning his chair back 'round to his desktop as he continues writing reports and answering calls for needed help.
This company Enzo works for specializes in helping people find an architect. In this world, finding an architect or engineer that isn't hard at work with space projects or floating buildings is few and far between, so this companies whole purpose is to find engineers for the common folk.
As Enzo heads to the exit, he remembers the ringing sound of the bosses words from the interview. "You start tomorrow." It was a dream come true young Enzo thought, and it truly was. Someone as rejected as him of course saw it as a dream to get a job in a world that despised him.
Almost as if Enzo heard my needless complaining about his pathetic life, he immediately thought, best not celebrate to early. As he opened the lock to the bus.
The bus door swung open as Enzo headed inside, and then it with a tight lock, and Enzo pressed the button called "Auto ride." And as he pressed the button, the bus started to fly midair as it slowly headed down to the ground, almost as if it was a helicopter turned elevator.
"A job here huh." He thought to himself out loud.
DAY 1 OF 90
"First day of work... Kinda awkward." Enzo muttered quietly due to the near 30 other people in the same flying bus as him, with the space inside feeling severely crowded. As Enzo finally escaped the crowded bus, he recognized a familiar face that seemed to have arrived early.
"Hey! What's up Cameron?" Enzo asked before realizing Cameron was typing out an email extremely aggressively.
"Shoo Enzo, go to your desk, I'm busy." Enzo takes a tiny peak at his desktop to only see a small fragment of what looked to be court documents, and before Enzo could look any further, a wave of employees come down the walkway.
Enzo finally makes his trek to his cubicle before he sets down his stuff and reads the sticky notes laid out for him by the boss. One simply stated to ask Lucky if he needed help, and the other one simply had the password for his work computer. He input the password to the computer, and almost immediately received a computer pop-up. "Install Left-Right Malware."
Out of concern, Enzo went over to the cubicle with the name "LUCKY" plastered on the side. He knocked on the outside of the cubicle before peeking his head inside. "Hello, uh, my name is Enzo Matteo, I got a weird pop-up on my compu-"
"Yeah-yeah, the malware one right? Don't worry, it's safe. It's so that the computers can be remotely accessed between employees, allowing for easy data transfer. The name is misleading." Lucky said without even looking away from his computer.
Without saying much, Enzo left and headed back to his cubicle. Man, can we hurry this shit up? This story is going way too slow. You know what?
DAY 80 of 90
There. You didn't need any of the stuff from days 2-80 anyways, it was him doing his boring job. You wanna get to the meat of it huh?
Once again, Enzo is back on the bus. Since the first day, he started coming in slightly early to avoid the crowded bus. He headed straight to his cubicle, only waving to a few people, and most importantly, running into Cameron.
"Coffee?" Cameron asked, holding out a cup of coffee extremely flooded with a super strong creamer.
"I'm good." Enzo said, reaching into the work fridge and grabbing out a bottle of water. "Are you okay?" Cameron asked, after taking a long sip of coffee.
"Just tired is all. I've been working overtime the past 15 days." He said before heading out the office lounge, and running directly into Arabella. He saw her have a slight jump as she ran into him.
"Sorry-"
"No-no, it's alright." She said before she quickly scampered away into the distance. "It feels as if she's afraid of me I swear." Enzo muttered under his breath.
Enzo, now back at his desk, starts doing work as usual before he gets a knock on the outside of his cubicle.
"Heyyyy, Enzo, could you do me a solid and take this customer for me?" He asks, holding his hands together in prayer.
"Fine, but this is the last time Charlie, I'm busy enough as it is." Enzo says before pressing the clear button on his work phone. "Send me the caller." He says in a defeated tone.
"Right on it!" Charlie says before rushing back on to his cubicle.
After a long day of work, he is finally back home after dealing with Charlie asking for help, again. Enzo can hear the ringing of Charlie going, "hey, sorry, but could you also take this paperwork? I would do it, but I'm busy." As he remembers Charlie say this, Enzo feels absolute rage and slams his fist into his wall. "I couldn't say no." He mutters to himself alone in his apartment. Just then, his tv channel swaps to breaking news.
"Breaking news! The CEO of building 141 dies in an alleged murder case!"
"Wait... THAT'S MY BUILDING!" Enzo shouts at the top of his lungs.
In this world due to the expensiveness of floating buildings, 3 or more companies will band together and will join together into one singular "building" company. For Enzo's job, his building has an aquarium used for rehabilitation, the second floor which he works in is the engineer/architect hiring firm, and finally the 3rd floor that is a low requirements for entry company that has a purpose of creating and giving experience to new teachers for America.
So to break it down simply, there are the three Co-CEO's of the 3 companies, but then whichever one of them put the most money into purchasing the building becomes the CEO over all 3 companies. This gives them slightly increased pay from the other businesses, but for the most part it doesn't affect the other Co-CEO's and how they chose to run their business.
Day 81 of 90
Walking through the building, anyone could tell everyone was on edge. The tension between everyone was so sharp you felt as if you were walking through barbed wire trying to get to your cubicle.
Enzo could hear the muttering of some of the higher ranking people in the company theorizing who would take his place. Almost immediately after, Enzo felt a tap on his shoulder, as he was dragged into the lounge.
"You going to the funeral?" Cameron asked. "Why would I? I barely knew the boss. Not only would I be out of place, I would also feel super uncomfortable around a bunch of rich people."
"Did you hear though? Apparently this floor might be forced to be bought out, putting us out of a job." Lucky said, appearing from behind a pillar.
"Yeah but someone will get the jo-"
"Don't be so sure. This company had an express policy in the contract, that seemingly no higher-ups read. It states, 'This company is the property of Dante Cohen, the owner. Any and all promotions must be approved by him, no exceptions.' Not sure if you caught on, but this includes becoming the CEO." Lucky said, reaching into the fridge.
"There's probably some way for someone to become CEO though." Cameron said.
"Maybe, but as of right now, there isn't any legal way other than fighting over the technicalities of the contract in court." Lucky says, before guzzling down a huge jug of water.
"Go to the funeral." Cameron says, patting Enzo on the back. "You never know what could happen."
Day 82 of 90
"Heyyy! You showed up!" Charlie said as he approached Enzo. "There ain't any work today, so I might as well." And low and behold, Enzo went to the funeral.
"Hey Enzo, how you doing?" Cameron asked with Lucky in toe. "Doing good, but still, I feel a little weird being at a guys funeral that I only knew as a boss and nothing else. Don't you feel out of place?" Enzo asked.
"Yeah, but isn't it the same as what I told you the first day? You'll get used to it." Cameron asked, before he headed off to their seats. "Come on, let's sit down before someone steals our seats.
"We are all here to remember Dante Cohen, a father, a husband, and a boss to so many amazing people..." As the man at the podium began to speak more and more, he felt less and less connected to this man he once thought of us a boss. He barely knew Dante in the slightest, and didn't even know his last name till Lucky showed him the contract.
"Before we read out his will to the crowd, would anyone wish to give any speeches?" The man at the podium asks, long after his wife and kids gave their individual speeches.
"Could I?" A young man in the crowd asked. "Sure, come on up."
*cough*
"I knew him both as a boss and as a mentor figure, when I joined this company, I was a failure, but him hiring me made me feel whole again. Not only did he hire me, but he went out of his way to train me and to teach me all the ways on how to get through this company. He is the reason I feel happy and have grown as a person, and for many of us, we have him to thank for our happiness."
Happiness my ass. Enzo thought. He did jack shit for me. Two sticky notes, one of which told me to ask a random coworker how to do my job. No training, and his lack of input only ruined my mood and made me hate life more. "thank him for our happiness?" Damn suck-up.
As the boy went back to his seat, the man at the podium began his speech. "Now, we will read out Dante's will. Note that any commotion caused will immediately cause you to be taken outside the funeral. To begin, his fortune is split between his inner family, being his 3 kids and his wife."
"Next, his 7 estates. His main estate along with three of his beach homes in Argentina will go to his wife, and his 3 kids will split the 3 estates equally, one for each." Once this section of the will was read, it seemed to be an assumption between everyone that the will had ended.71Please respect copyright.PENANAcLvahKjdzG
Everyone in the room watched as the man at the podium's eyes lit up like a candle, and like a terrified child. "And... A-And the position of CEO..." The room, while being silent beforehand, felt like it had somehow become more than quiet. "The position of CEO goes to someone named... Enzo Matteo?"
Pure silence struck everyone, and slowly Lucky, Cameron, and Charlie turned towards his direction, with a mixture of confusion and, oddly enough, terror. A few people caught on to the attention he was getting and looked at Enzo, and before long, almost everyone was staring at him.71Please respect copyright.PENANAmtJbzSt6lI
"What..." Enzo muttered. Once more, but louder, he yelled.
"WHAT?"
