Not Just a beginning
As he came closer, about to kiss me, I heard my alarm ring and my mom screaming at me. I was like Wait, what? How’s mom supposed to be here? Then I suddenly feel the lights on. Yes, my mom disturbed my dream with the same guy again. The guy who does not have a face. I mean, not like he doesn't have a face at all. It’s just that his face is not clear as of now. Yeah, it’s because I haven’t met him yet. I ain’t dating someone who doesn’t fit my standards.
The reason my mom woke me up so early was that I have a test today. And I had the freaking audacity to dance the previous night like I’m performing in some concert. Anyway, I exercise as usual and I put two spoons under my eyes to wake me up for the day and reduce puffiness of my eyes even though I don’t have any. Now it’s 6:45 am, I should brush within 15 mins and go shower by 7:00 if I want to get my bus, which comes at 8:00 am. While I daydream while brushing to keep myself entertained, of course. Yeah, that’s my outfit of the day since we don’t have uniforms. Well, in my mind, they do not go well together, I mean, uh, they do go well, but also not so well at the same time, but my bestie wanted to see me wear this so bad. She’s the most beautiful person both in and out. She is the only person who’s been there for me whenever I needed her. We saw each other laughing, crying, and everything except the fact that she had never seen me in love. She has been in a relationship in her teen years, but not with me. Probably because no boys liked me, but that’s okay. But that’s not the reason. I’ve rejected many guys because most of the guys just proposed, not because they like me, but because they just want a girlfriend. Well, I put my makeup on and my new NYX butter gloss, which I saw on Pinterest, and I immediately had to buy it. I put it on and had spaghetti for breakfast, and Mom gave me money for the canteen for the first time. I was like Mom? Uh, where is my lunch? She said that the induction cooker is not working properly, hence she can’t cook for now. Anyway, it’s 7:55 and I need at least five minutes to walk to my bus stop in my Louboutins. I feel so weak and light, and my insides feel so warm. Well, you're gonna think who the heck walks to their bus stop in Louboutins. Well, the answer is me. Yeah, I love testing out things like these, and I don’t usually wear these to university. I wore it today because it would really go well with my outfit.
“Bye, have a nice day, Mom.” “Same to you.” I step out and start heading towards my bus stop. Yeah, I didn’t tell mom I had a fever or else I’d miss my test.
When I reached my bus stop, I didn’t see Giselle, who’s my bus-mate. She’s my senior who has always been the first to hear the tea. Giselle has always been like someone who gives great advice to me. Well, I don’t know the reason why she is not here today. She didn't text me either. Well, either she’s gonna miss the bus or she's gonna have to be running behind the bus again. The last time she missed her bus was when she went back to drink some water, and when she came, the bus had already started, and she waved, and the driver and the other passengers didn’t even notice her.
Well, it’s been 8:05, the bus to Miami is supposed to arrive at 8:00 am sharp, and it still hasn’t arrived yet. I suppose it is late today. Yeah, here it comes as I get in, I saw someone smiling at me, it was no one but Giselle. I was surprised to see her saving my favourite window seat for me. I sat next to her and she goes, “Wassup, did I do a good job surprising you?” “Well, obviously I didn’t expect someone who was supposed to be running behind the bus to be seated next to the window seat,” I replied, “Haha, I got up on this bus from Hialeah.” Wait, are you telling me you stayed at your cousin’s?” “Well, technically yes!” “Eugh how was your experience with her” “Well she did try to gaslight my mom into the fact that I hit her for no reason when she hit herself when I didn’t give her the remote” “Tsk she’s so insecure” I replied “Gurl leave it she’s just a kid” “I hate kids like these” “The next stop is Miami.” The automatic voice on the bus said. “Dang, girl, your outfit slayed today,” said Giselle. “Thank you, my bestie wanted me to wear it.” “Damn, your bestie has better taste than you,” we both laughed as we got off the bus. Lanyun University is fifty metres from the bus stop. And I have to walk those fifty metres in my Louboutins.
Suddenly, a bee flew onto my face. I got scared, and I was about to trip and break my knees. Luckily, Giselle held my hand in time and swayed the bee away. As I was about to say thank you to her, I heard someone laugh. It was Leah. Leah is my bestie. “You should have seen your face, Vie. It looked like a lizard tryna to catch its prey by rizzing it up. “Stop that, Ms hawk- never mind,” I said sarcastically. “Hawk what?” said Leah. “Never mind,” I replied. “You look so sick and dull today,” said Leah. “Yeah, I drank the ice-cube shake yesterday, so I got a fever,” I replied. “You should have taken a rest.” “I didn’t wanna miss the test though, and you wanted to see me wear this,” I said to Leah. “Those Louboutin heels aren’t my idea of bitch.” As she said that, she picked up my bag for me and held it for me. Considerate Leah. “Hi, I’m Leah Hawthrone,” She said to Giselle. “Hi, I’m Giselle Timberlake, nice to meet you. Ella has always mentioned you.” Giselle replied. “As she should, I know I’m famous everywhere.” Said Leah sarcastically. As we entered the campus, I saw Asael with his gang. He and his gang give the typical high school bully vibes, even though they don’t bully anyone. He then came to me, “Remember the bet?” My mind was blank from the bee thingy. “What the heck are you talking about?” I questioned Asael. “Miss, we had a bet on whether I’d win the volleyball match or not, and I won. You said you would exchange your papers with me.” “Uh, I guess I did”. So the thing is, yesterday the boys had a volleyball match, and a girl called Amaria. The girl who manifests my downfall and has a crush on Asael, and wants Asael to win. I bet with Asael cuz it was too obvious that the other team would win. But then Amaria overheard our conversation about the bet, and she wanted me to lose the bet. So, just when the other team was about to score, Amaria screamed so loud that they lost their concentration, and Asael’s team took the ball and scored.
The audience, on hearing Amaria scream, ran to check. When they reached there, they saw Amaria pointing towards something. It was a small lizard. Asael was present too. When everyone asked her what happened, she said so childishly that she thought the lizard was a huge python that would eat her, and she started looking at Asael and started crying. Asael just went away knowing he had both won the bet and the match.
Leah was astonished when I told her about this over chat. She was like, “Why did you accept the challenge? Leah did get angry. Back then, “It’s okay, we can find a way to compensate with Mr Baysen. You go write the exam.”I replied.
