Sloane
A heavy feeling lingers in my chest. It's there, I just know it but what? We've been traveling for a week which has given my arm time to properly heal but only with the help of my power sending frequencies through my body to speed up the recovery.
"We should set camp here for the night. We'll need all our energy to fight the minotaur" I explain sliding my sling down and jumping down off the horse. Kylian shook his head bring our horses over to area of their own tying them up to a large lower branch. After that he starts picking up wood scraps for the fire and states "I thought you couldn't move your arm and suddenly you can now. God must really crack out miracles" he raises his eyebrow completely looking at Blaire and I making the setup for the fire. While setting the stones in a circle with the dugout being handled by Blaire.
"I found you babying me very cute to where I didn't have the heart to tell you. Plus, you looked so happy. Why ruin it for you" I smiled innocently walking over to him wrapping my hands around his bicep shaking him a couple times. Wind gently flies the leaves causing them to create chimes of their own. The sun began to set behind us with the sky painted a very bright pink and purple. The dark blue clouds covered parts of the sky's nudity. Nearby us was an open-ended hill, a decent place to see the land and sky. Vera appears in my vision sitting in the opening by the edge. Out of subconscious, we all happened to find ourselves there with her. At peace feeling the sun on our skins, present with us in our darkest moment.
Vera leans back using her forearms as support.
"I want you guys to know that I consider you family. An honor to make these memories. If I stayed in Elven Patriarchy, I would still be a scribing dusty book”
"But at some point, you did happen to see yourself with us, right?" Blaire ask looking at Vera. Before she answers, she glances at our new companion then into the sun.
"In my visions, I've never seen myself intersect with anyone. I witness everything. Even if I wanted to see my own future, I can't nor want control it. Yes, it is scary not know what lies ahead for me while others are crystal clear. Nevertheless, I mustn't lose hope in the dance with fear...yet I do know that my steps in life are forever changed, one way or another" she explains grabbing my hand and smiles brightly. She's right. It's hard to be hopeful when everything keeps pushing back at you. Where the demons you hide taunt you for keeping them but sometimes it's yourself.
"Hold hope in the dance with fear as if you can't live without it" Kylian rephrases ever so slightly.
I smile back at her. "Ya know if the Crow was here right now, she would be making fun you" Vera draws all attention to Kylian poking his baby beard that he suddenly decided to grow out.
"By saying, Maverick was right. You really look likes Sloane's Mutt" she explains laughing poking his face a couple times. I push Vera playfully "stop that's not nice ". She turns her attention to back to the sun. Kylian side eyes Vera and says "Don't start with me, Vera. Every time you have one your visions, your eyes start twitching and one of your eyes roll back like you have a case of rabies..." he gestures to her mouth.
Being there with here with them felt too unreal. Ya know that feeling when something feels too good to be true? Watching my friends joke around without the worries of this world made me feel hopeful. A hope that wishes all could experience. We were happy. Dancing in the sun. Just for a moment of peace. It felt as if the Crow was there with us to a point I could imagine her. In the back of all of this with Maverick standing alone just watching in amusement. We almost had him. Even with the odds against us and our different focuses, it was home. We're this close...
