Warren
Soft bristles run down my feathers giving them a shine. I was getting ready to train with my mentor before my father entered the room.
"You remind me so much of myself when I was your age" he smiled standing behind me with both hands on my shoulder. It's true. We do resemble each other.
"Father, I'm worried for her. My nights have been truly tiresome to where the food that the servants bring cannot satisfy" I admit. I do fear for the future especially for my sister. I cannot lose another relative. There have only been stories of my mother as memories for her to me, but Sloane has been sister and mother to me. Hence my concern.
"Your sister is strong and wise in her decisions. She will be home soon once all this is over. A letter has arrived for you a couple minutes ago. We must have hope and trust in our Lord that she is carried correctly" my father quoted handing me a letter and left. My hands had a mind of their own in the same eagerness as me to know any updates.
'Dear Brother,
I am doing good. We've made a couple friends that I pray in the future are our allies. There so much I want to tell you but it's better safe not to for right now. Kylian is well. For some reason, this quest has me feeling different in a way that I am not sure is good or bad. It's amazing to see what else is in this world and learn from it.
I know you are starting training soon for you coming of age ball and marriage court. You are going to do amazing things and be a great King or whoever you decide to be one day. I love you and win the courts favor. Later tonight before your tournament I have a present for you. Weld it myself and don't get stabbed with your own blade! You'll look stupid as always. Be careful of the ears around you and who you trust. I 'm not sure why I am telling you this. Do watch over father. He puts on a brave face but we both know he is scared. He can be tough sometimes nevertheless, it's all love. I forget that too.
I'll write you again soon.'
Love,
Sloane Elkancá
Light in my room brighten. His presence is warm. It eases some of my nervousness. I placed the letter down when there was another knock on my door "Come in".
Iyana, Sloane's personal maid entered the room with my training gear placing it on the bed. She noticed the letter on my dresser then asked, "is that the new menu from Chef Madame?".
"No, it's from my sister. She is well and making great progress with killing this, Oasis. Thank you for these..." I walk pass with my gear.
"Pleasure is all mine. Glad she is alright. I've been quite worried about my lady ". Must be the sun 's light. A glimpse of purple in Iyana's eyes. They do that a lot. Shine. My family has gotten use to them as the time went by. Iyana curtsy to my left watching me as she walks away. "You got this your majesty. Do your mother would be proud "she encourages grasping her hands together.
I wish, I got a chance to know her.
To make her proud in these dying times.
I must contribute.
Or...
Ill fall...in second place again
A memory vs no memory of someone.
Which is worse?
