Maverick
"Clear your mind from these imbeciles. Get back to the agenda" I thought out loud. Even with Oasis's powers, she can only do so much. Tracking people isn't one her many trades of sorts. My hand reached for a red marble placing it on the ground.
A mirror portal rises from the marble showing nothing but the other side in a liquid fide motion. I traveled a decent distance where they won't be able to find me easily. Only a voice echoed through the portal, "Updates?" she questioned. Shuffling sounds over a voice that was ordering someone, or a group of people and that voice did not belong to her.
Strange place to be.
Brother, where can she be?
Oasis taking orders. Hilarious!
I stood up properly observing my surrounds before giving her an update "Two of the gemstones have been collected. In five days', time, they will go for the Amethyst next. What do you want me to do?" I asked willing to follow her next.
None of them matter...
They are collateral damage in all of this. All will know pain. A pain that burns you at the slightest thought of it.
"Hmm... I need more time" she requested. The mirror like substance faded away leaving the marble in its normal state. More time. With these people. It could be easy to end it here. But no, I must endure more pain. Less tolerance for these things.
The seasons were changing. Leaves started to fall to the ground signaling the winter is approaching. The coldest and deadliest time of the year. Where mother nature either allows you bask in the cold or show no mercy to those who are unlucky to witness.
I have the perfect person for the job.
The day is in the middle ground. Clouds covered the parts of the skies showing little bits of the sun. I sat down on a rock looking down at my shoes. My thoughts are not properly. Hell, I'm not proper. All I could think of was Elkancá, how they ripped my father away from me. I could kill the King that act as such but what's the best revenge in making his most prize possession becoming nothing. For him to feel everything while I feel nothing.
I stood up pushing past many bushes. The water source is not that great in scale. I lowered myself cupping the water in my hands to put it on my face. Itching for a drink. Itching for satisfaction. To be quenched.
The reflection in the water of me smiles. Amir appears with shorter hair but everything else is the same. To be identical. To be another person.
"You need to get things done for me to trust you" he states in such a way that irk my soul. He thinks that he is in control, but he is not. It's me. We're in the same boat begging for different things. I changed my posture leaning closer to my knees and remarked "How many times will you tell me? I haven't seen you try anything yet". He shook his head rubbing his chin then snaps at me with his fingers "Vulnerability. Give them something to nibble on. If you keep staying away, they'll know something up" our reflection changes back only to me.
I'm tired...
A dove flies over me to a branch looking at me. What does it want? Food? Just looking at it felt strange but in a satisfying way.11Please respect copyright.PENANAfn3FiuE9yg
"what do you want?" I ask but of course, no reply.
"I have things to do" I turn back around calculating my steps and approaches the campsite. The sun has fallen by the time I arrived leaving the bonfire to be our source of light.
Laughing...
Figures started to come in my view by the fire. The princess was sitting on a log right beside her guard dog sharpening her blade while Vera and that crow was in a laughing fit. Standing in the water was the siren chilling in the water not paying anyone mind.
"You did not do that... really?" Sloane asked the crow without acknowledging me, no one did. The crow raised her arms only to put them down again "yep, crashed in a farm in the coldest mountain up north. They have amazing goat cheese; I had to pretend to be a scarecrow" the Crow leans back eating some of a roasted rabbit. I did bother to engage into the conversation; there is no point.
Someone in the group brought up that we should say a couple thing's about ourselves. No thanks.
It's quiet here. No commotion. No chaos.
The crow raised her hand at mid-point before saying her piece "I was raised in a small village called Cri. A fire took over the village killing a couple folks" she stopped after her last sentenced.
"We relocated somewhere up the mountains. They were held by fear of the world. I decided to leave and find more beyond the mountains. My sister wanted to come which I rejected but she made it hard to say no. For a while, we could call the streets our home. Stealing whatever we could. My sister had a crazy obsession with things shiny and sparkly. Every crow does. We finally got the hang of this thief business. After one more good steal we'll be set for a while at least maybe call a little place home. Oh, how we were wrong. Naive. One night, we stole from a man that we thought would be an easy grab. We left but Sira couldn't leave one thing behind, and it was this shinny pin that reminded her of our parents. I told her we should go and be celebrative on the things we have. She snuck back in and that was it. Her on the floor, dead. I tried to get her body back but as a result I got this" she shows on her arm a bold spot between her feathers, where a burn marking with a 'F' stamped on it.
"He's a bad man and we thought stealing from him would find some kind of justice" silence filled the air again. How nice.
Vera stood up dancing around. Something is wrong with her. You can tell she wasn't drunk anymore but her personality seemed strange to me. As everyone else was telling their story and laugh at few things, I tried to keep myself distant. Yet Vera stopped pointing at me and smiled giddily "Oh dark one, you have not said a word" she announced causing everyone to look at me. Great. Attention.
"Best for everyone if he didn't "Kylian remarked taking a sip of his ale. Sloane shook her head looking over in my direction. It's funny? Do you find this musing? Him amusing? Please.
"Fine little seer, I'll share a few words. I'm from Ephairukka, a home long gone. I was 13 when it happened. Only months later, smoke grazed the ground masking the dead that laid among the floors. My father being one of them. Oasis took me in after your kingdom came and stormed into mine killing whoever was in their path. No mercy..." I finished my sentence standing up pointing at the princess.
Oasis despises royals. They were never good to her. She took me in promising to help me destroy Elkancá. We both win.
She stood up as well replying "My father has been involved in many wars but not with your kingdom. I heard very faintly of your home, and I can tell you; my father did not do it. I know "she stays there. I got closer to her which Kylian gets in the way which I had a shadow push him back with my powers. We were only inches apart staring each other in the eyes.
"Your father is a murder. He killed millions of innocent people. Blood must be paid with Blood" I quoted with hints of a venom in my words. Sloane steps closer as Vera and Jayden went to help Kylian.
"And you think killing me would solve all that, all your hate?" she questioned. Is she really questioning me?
"Yes, take away the person he loves most. Maybe go for the rest of you family. To see the look on your mother's face when I tell her that her little girl dead before I kill – "before I could feel get the words out, her fist replaced them and sent me to the floor. I held onto my jaw, and she squats down meeting me. A smirk appears on my face.
"You can call me many things, but I won't allow you talk bad about my family. I'm sorry that has happened to you, I truly am. I feel sorry for you" she looked at me in the eyes not moving an inch. I chuckled in her face wiping the blood off my lips and asked, "why is that?".
Sloane moves closer to me slightly touching my bruised lip "because you are loser that will never be satisfied. You only know of hate and that will keep you stuck. Never letting yourself change that's why I feel sorry for you" she stood up stepping away.
"Plus, my mother told me to never play with trash" she said walking away from me.
Her doing this made me remember when Oasis first came into my life. When we were younger, our father tried to perform a bestow process that would help us receive our powers sooner, but it went completely wrong. We share the same body. Now with me in control and him a mind of his own.
After that, our father began to lose sleep to find a solution. Too upset with what he has done. To ashamed to show himself. My father spent every chance he could get to make things right.
That day I left to go fishing for father and when I came back everyone was dead. I walk around scanning the figures of men, women, and children. Everyone is dead. My father laying there covered in ash. I brought him into my arms gently removing the ash from his face.
"Look what they did to your papa. How inhumane they are. Promising an alliance as a sign death certificate" a woman appears from the ashes placing a hand on my shoulder. "What happened?" I asked touching my father's hand letting the tears turn into company. The mysterious woman looks upon the distance "the King of Elkancá being nothing more than king...you can see it here "she says. That's where my hate began. Our hate. Sharing the interest of death.
I stood up watching the princess leave. The crow shook her head and stood up patting my shoulder. Odd way to act towards me.
"Her mother died a long time ago... and the award for most douche bag goes too, drum roll please... you" she said points at me before leaving. The tension in my shoulders rise.
She lost a parent too...
Why would that matter? I'm killing them anyway.11Please respect copyright.PENANAkiqPDPqACV
