The episode is a continuation of the previous episode, where Sakura encountered Kabuto and Orochimaru. Creepy music starts playing in the background when Orochimaru says, “I can tell when you’re bluffing, my dear, and right now, you’re already finished.” With that effect, Sakura drops her kunai in shock, paralysed with fear, and then she kneels on the floor, still with a shocked look on her face. Afterwards, Orochimaru said, “Poor little thing, look at her trembling like a newborn pup. Alright, Kabuto, get rid of her, but try not to let her suffer.” As Kabuto moves closer, Sakura eventually finds the courage to speak up, and then a dialogue takes place between her and Orochimaru:
Sakura: Hold on a minute. Sasuke, where is he? You could not have taken his body already.
Orochimaru: No need to hide it any longer, I suppose; it is fine, Kabuto. Go ahead and tell her.
Then Orochimaru walks away, and a door closes behind him. Thereafter, a dialogue between Sakura and Kabuto takes place.

The dialogue between Sakura and Kabuto
Sakura attempts to battle Kabuto, telling him that she believes Naruto and that she will save Sasuke together. She soon loses focus when Kabuto begins harassing her with thoughts of Sasuke’s inevitable death. He states, “Sasuke is already dead, and you two can meet with him in the afterlife.” She begins sobbing and remains still as Kabuto is about to murder her.
Kabuto starts to explain what happened with Sasuke:
Kabuto: Unfortunately, Sasuke was a little late getting here, and Lord Orochimaru could not wait. He had to make do with another vessel.
Sakura: So, Sasuke is all right then and is somewhere in this building?
Kabuto: Lord Orochimaru gave Uchiha the curse mark to prepare him to be ready for my Lord’s next incarnation. The problem is that not everyone can bear the burden of the curse mark.
Sakura: Impossible; there is no way Sasuke could be...
Kabuto: I am afraid so. Sasuke could not handle the curse mark, and now it is a memory.
Sakura (trembling): You’re lying. I do not believe you. It must be a lie.
Kabuto (shakes his head): Mmm, oh, come now, what have I to gain by lying? I mean, in another minute here, you will be dead. Since you are in such a hurry to see him, let me help you. You can spend eternity together in the afterlife.
While Sakura is paralysed with shock, Kabuto prepares to attack her with his kunai. Kabuto used Sakura’s weakness against her to have the upper hand. Moreover, knowing Sakura’s love for Sasuke, he kept taunting her that Sasuke was dead, which made Sakura let her guard down. The scene gets intense until Naruto comes to save her.
Naruto arrives in the nick of time to save Sakura, but she is still petrified and in tears. Naruto tells her not to believe him, takes her away, and a battle ensues. Victorious music with a hint of Japanese chants starts to play in the background as Naruto comes to save Sakura. A dialogue takes place between him and Kabuto:
Kabuto: Well, what do you know about that? I just figured you would drown by now, Naruto.
Naruto (yelling): Whenever I make a promise, I do not ever give up; that is my ninja friend, and until we get Sasuke back, nothing on earth is going to stop me.
Kabuto: humph, interesting
Naruto still wants to keep his promise to Sakura and Sasame to bring them back to Sasuke and Arashi. His compassion for others runs through his veins, and he is not going to give up because that is his ninja way. Therefore, that is Naruto’s strength as a shinobi. After the dialogue, a battle takes place between him and Kabuto.
Naruto battles Kabuto viciously using Shadow Clones, but Kabuto defeats them with a fire technique. Eventually, Naruto corners him and defeats him with the Rasengan, injuring him badly. Although he appears defeated, Kabuto traps him in some chakra threads immune to the normal blades that connect their hearts; if Kabuto’s heart stops, so will Naruto’s. He states that he is willing to sacrifice himself to please Orochimaru. It is important to note that Kabuto was able to weave the chakra threads around Naruto’s body when he used the Rasengan. The threads are weaving into Naruto’s body as well as into his heart, where all the internal organs are essential to keep him functioning. Moreover, their heart rates synchronise into one, which means that if Kabuto’s heart stops, so will Naruto’s. To make matters worse, the threads are made of pure chakra; hence, Naruto cannot break them.
Tragic music starts playing in the background as Kabuto states that he is willing to sacrifice himself to please Orochimaru. He already promised his body to Lord Orochimaru to use at his disposal. This shows how Orochimaru has a way of manipulating others to get what he wants, which is sacrificing their bodies. As Kabuto prepares to squeeze his heart so that he and Naruto die, Sakura tries to cut the chakra threads, yet it does not work. Kabuto even said that Lady Tsunade, with all her strength, would be powerless to break it. This proves to be a complicated situation. It is a damned-if-you-do and damned-if-you-don’t situation. While this is happening, Sakura says in her mind, “What do I do? Naruto is suffering right in front of me, I’m helpless to stop it.” Naruto then says, “Don’t you worry, Sakura. I don’t care what happens, nothing is gonna stop me, not till I have delivered all my promises.” It is an emotional moment to the extent that Sakura has tears in her eyes. Before Kabuto can fully crush his heart, Sasame appears, and this is where we will see the role she plays in this episode.

The role of Sasame
Before Kabuto can crush his own heart, Sasame arrives and gives Sakura a tag to wrap on her kunai. Sakura cuts off Kabuto’s threads and frees Naruto. Sasame reveals that the chakra threads are a special technique of the Fuma clan.
Sasame played a role in this episode in the sense that she revealed that the chakra threads are a special technique of the Fuma clan. She also mentioned that it is one of the Fuma clan’s most guarded ninja techniques. Moreover, since it is the most guarded technique, only members of the Fuma clan know it. Kabuto is not from the Fuma clan, so how did he know? Therefore, that is when we learn the real identity of Kabuto.
A dying Kabuto’s mask is removed, and it is revealed that it was Kagerou all along. It was Kagerou all along. How is she still alive? She sacrificed her life when she was battling Naruto and Jiraiya. Yet she is alive. To understand, the dialogue among them helps us understand the situation.
Sasame: Master Kagerou, she is a Fuma Jonin
Sakura: What is it? What is wrong?
Kagerou: Hey Sasame, it is all right; do not be frightened. Lord Orochimaru has simply given me a second life.
Naruto: Are you kidding? That snake is playing you for a fool.
Sakura: Where are they hiding, Sasuke?
Naruto: Yes, what about Sasame’s cousin, huh? Where are they keeping Arashi?
Kagerou: Lord Orochimaru is our saviour; the honourable Fuma clan has fallen, but he will lift us again higher than all other shinobi.
Naruto: Are you still spouting that trash? Enough already; tell Sasame where her cousin is.
She looks at the door where Orochimaru left, and the rest of them also look at the door. Kagerou then said to Sasame, “You and your cousin Sasame were always so close to one another, weren’t you? It would be better if you did not see him now.” Subsequently, her heart stops beating, and then she dies. It is a tragedy because she died while she was brainwashed by Orochimaru’s evil intentions; hence, it is important to understand Orochimaru’s extent of ruthlessness.

Orochimaru’s ruthlessness
It is crucial to note that Orochimaru’s goal is to fulfil his need for power and immortality. He is willing to do whatever it takes to get it, even if it means playing with other people’s emotions. For example, Kagerou loves her clan to the extent that she is willing to sacrifice her life to restore its honour. It is possible that Orochimaru took note of that when she sacrificed her life while battling with Naruto and Jiraiya. When Jigumo and Kamakiri arrived at Orochimaru’s hideout to beg him to restore Kagerou’s life, he blatantly refused. Jigumo and Kamakiri were not happy about this, so they attempted to attack Orochimaru, and before they could do so, Orochimaru killed them. It is a slap in the face when he restores Kagerou’s life after killing them. To make matters worse, Kagerou died once again, all for the sake of the clan, which is a tragedy. This proves that Orochimaru does not help anyone unless it fulfils his interests, which you will see in the case of Arashi, and you will not believe what happened to him.
Before Arashi revealed himself, a dialogue took place among Sasame, Gamakichi, Naruto, and Sakura:
Orochimaru: It is good of you to come, Sasame.
Sasame: Huh? Where is my cousin?
Afterwards, Orochimaru removes his mask and reveals who he is.
Orochimaru arrives and, in turn, removes his mask to reveal he is Arashi. Arashi begins to transform into a monster. After seeing Arashi’s face, Sasame tries to hug him, but Arashi stops her and then says, “You’re mistaken. I am not the Arashi you knew.” Intense music with a mixture of electronic guitar and drums plays in the background to signify that Arashi is transforming into a monster. To make matters worse, his body also consists of Jigumo and Kamakiri, the ones Orochimaru killed. Sasame and the rest are perplexed and shocked, as is evident in the dialogue:
Naruto: What the heck is going on around here?!
Arashi: The body and skills of the Fuma clan’s strongest Jonin emerged, and I have been reborn as the ultimate shinobi. Let me show you the most powerful ninjutsu you have ever seen, Sasame.
Sasame: Arashi, what have you done to yourself?
Naruto (angry): Orochimaru, you lousy snake! I will not forgive him for this, no matter what!
Orochimaru has proven to be ruthless here as well. He changed Arashi into a monster. He used his experiments to use the dead bodies of Jigumo and Kamakiri on Arashi. Arashi is driven by the pursuit of power; he said he wanted to show Sasame the most powerful ninjutsu to prove that he is the ultimate shinobi. Sadly, Jigumo and Kamakiri trusted Orochimaru, only to be stabbed in the back. Therefore, Orochimaru does not have any respect for them to rest in peace since they are now part of Arashi’s body.
Arashi is driven by the pursuit of power because he was brainwashed by Orochimaru. This proves that Orochimaru likes playing mind games to get what he wants. In this case, Sasame and Arashi’s relationship is strained because he has changed. His voice even sounds different. This is why Naruto was angry when he said, “Orochimaru, you lousy snake! I will not forgive him for this, no matter what.” Naruto has empathy for others, which makes him one of the significant characters in this episode. It also shows that he is a round character who seems like a real person who cares about others.
The lesson from this episode is that one should be careful of the people they interact with; otherwise, they might end up being deceived, as Orochimaru did to the Fuma clan.
