Analysis
With the second pill in his system, Choji uses the Multi-Size Technique to dramatically increase his size and fall upon Jirobo. This is a continuation of the previous episode. As Choji takes the yellow pill, drums play in the background. Moreover, the music further intensifies with background voices that sound like an uproar. Lastly, an intense guitar plays in the background, which shows Choji’s determination to win the fight; hence, all of these background noises have a dramatic effect.
To escape the crushing effects of Choji’s increased bulk, Jirobo advances to level 2 of his cursed seal, enabling him to lift Choji and toss him aside. Choji uses the Multi-Size Technique to dramatically increase his size and fall upon Jirobo. As a result, the electric guitar continues to play in the background as Jirobo seems weak as he lies on the ground. Moreover, the music intensifies with the background noise that sounds like an uproar and an electric guitar as Jirobo attempts to stand up and toss Choji to the side. However, in response to his attack, Choji uses a super-expansion jutsu on Jirobo. Furthermore, the music stops playing in the background as Choji falls into the forest, which causes massive destruction.
Outmatched, Choji considers taking the last pill. While all of the pills he has taken thus far have been harmful to him, the third almost guarantees death to the user. Choji is on the ground, and intense music plays in the background as Jirobo lifts him. Jirobo said, “I don’t believe I had to go to the second state for an opponent as weak as this one.” Afterwards, there is a transition in Jirobo's features. For instance, he seems stronger, his skin is brown, his eyes are different, and his hair is suddenly long, which gives one a better understanding of the curse mark. It is revealed that when one is in the second state, the person who has the curse mark becomes massively strong. Therefore, as a result of his massive strength, Jirobo tosses Choji to the side, which causes an electric guitar to play in the background.
Eventually, Choji changes back to normal, which means he is in deep trouble. The second stage of the curse has just made Jirobo stronger. To make matters worse, Choji cannot get up because he is suffering from the side effects of the pill.
While Choji lies on the ground, an intense piano plays in the background as Jirobo draws closer and crushes Choji on the ground. In the process of crushing Choji, he attempts to take Choji’s chakra because the second state uses a lot of chakra. However, he realises that Choji doesn’t have any due to the Akamichi pill Choji took. In other words, Choji is weak as the music continues to play in the background. Therefore, one has a better understanding of the second stage of the curse mark and the akamichi pill. Both of these techniques have a lot of power, but they use a lot of chakra.
The music stops playing in the background, and Jirobo says to Choji that he will go after his friends after he is done with him. After realising the seriousness of the situation, Choji contemplates whether to take the red pill or not. In other words, if he takes it, there is a possibility that he will die.
Thinking of Shikamaru Nara, Choji takes the pill, allowing him to easily overpower and kill Jirobo. His battle is won, and Choji begins to follow his friends’ path, though he falls unconscious before making it very far. After some time, Choji decides to take the red pill. As soon as he took the pill, there were butterflies. Drums start playing in the background, as it has a dramatic effect. First, Choji has butterfly wings in the form of a chakra. Second, Choji has slimmed. As a result, there is a background noise that sounds like an uproar to show that Choji has the upper hand. Furthermore, an electric guitar plays in the background as Choji tosses Jirobo aside. Last, the Japanese guitar and flute play as well in the background as Choji finally defeats Jirobo. Afterwards, the music stopped playing in the background. All the different sounds and instruments gave the episode a sense of excitement as it showed the other side of Choji, who was courageous enough to defeat Jirobo. At this moment, it shows that Choji is a dynamic character who has grown into a fine shinobi.
Moreover, there is a moment of silence to signify Choji’s victory. For instance, Jirobo has transitioned back to his normal form. Moreover, Choji sees the sign marks that his friends left on the trees. He reads the message that states that they were all waiting for him. At that moment, Choji remembers the times he spent with his friends in the Hidden Leaf Village. Furthermore, he cries as a Japanese flute continues to play in the background, and after some time, he passes out. Meanwhile, when Shikamaru saw a butterfly, he immediately knew that Choji had taken the red pill and assumed that he had died. As a result, the episode ends in suspense, which leaves one curious to understand if Choji has survived or not.
The lesson from this episode is that one should learn to believe in oneself. For instance, Choji believed in himself that he would defeat Jirobo, and indeed, he won the battle.
