Circi had stopped listening to him and was instead wide-eyed as she knelt to touch the ground at Avarice's feet. She rubbed the gold, and when she lifted her fingers, a little of the gold rose with her.
"What is this?" she questioned as a small, irregularly shaped mass of Avarice's gold hovered above the tip of her fingers.
"It's crystalline gold, my version of a precious metal where I'm from," Avarice answered before willing the gold above her fingers to return to its rightful owner. "How are you able to control it?"
"You said it was crystalline gold? I can control crystals. I sensed the nature within your gold and willed it to bend to me." The smile Circi flashed at Avarice was as if she'd just found the golden goose. "You should meet our Crest Head. She will be very impressed by you," she gripped Avarice's hand almost hungrily before kindly ushering us into the crystal building.
We were led to the top floor, where we stopped before a large set of elegant double doors. Outside the door stood another klevonian.
Her name was Stalla 'The Sea Touched'. She was a 3-star threat with a base EQN of 46,980,000, and a sage klevonian with the Surge eutierric cintracy, granting her power over water. This made her a sea goblin. She had another cintracy as well – a temp one called Purification. Apparently, she could use that to turn any liquid she touched into clean water. It's because of her that Crysus had the cleanest water in all Cindar.
Initially, Stalla was on guard, probably wondering why Circi was bringing a group of random klevonians into the throne room, but the two must've quickly exchanged telepathic thoughts because she looked at Avarice and smiled before opening the doors for us.
Inside the room were digital screens that monitored various information, including numbers that presumably represented money. In the far back, there was a desk before a throne. The desk was sinking into the ground as the figure sitting on the throne grinned at us.
Pretty sure they told her about your power already, I shared with Avarice.
I have no doubt, he replied.
"Salutations! You all are quite interesting," the pneumarian stated as she signaled for her guards to leave. "I'm Meira, the Crest Head of the Goblin District. A pleasure to meet you all," she smiled brightly.
Meira was incredibly beautiful. She had long, white hair that fell down her back, and her peach-colored skin glowed with a light within her. She wore a lavish red and white dress that accentuated her flat stomach and was loose around the sleeves. She also wore matching long red earrings that hung from her ears and a stunning diadem around her forehead. The last piece that created her stunning appearance was a glowing circle of light, which I could only describe as a halo, hovering behind her head.
I noticed some movement. A tiny green creature scurried around the room as the Crest Head sat there; the pattering of its feet echoed.
According to her bio card, she was known as the 'Dimensional Queen'. She was a 3.5 star-threat with an EQN of 526,200,000. Of course, she had the Shine eutierric cintracy, but also a divine cintracy called Sanctum.
Ohh, yes, that one is a special ability, Viraa shared. Meira has the power to open rifts in the air that can serve as windows to other places. She can also enter rifts that lead to a separate dimension, a personal sanctuary, if you will. It is truly a magnificent ability.
Guess that's why she's called the Dimensional Queen, Za'Fia commented telepathically.
Meira stood and approached Avarice with curiosity, grabbing his hands and turning them over to inspect them.
"So you can create crystalline gold! We don't have that here. I bet we could work together and put that power to good use..." She looked up at Avarice, who gave a sly grin.
"Seems my gold will be more profitable here than it was on Earth,' he said as he thought about the possibilities.
Then Meira quickly turned to me and gripped my hands next.
"And you have Viraa's power!" she exclaimed. "How does the future sight thing work? Viraa never really discussed her power with anyone except her confidant, Thessa, my predecessor. Everything was always cryptic and vague with her," Meira said with slight frustration.
"Yeah, I get how you feel," I muttered.
"Would you be able to see if certain business propositions are worth the time and resources?" she asked next, then stepped back as she realized she was starting to become overbearing. "Oh, my apologies. I'm getting ahead of myself. I saw an opportunity and just got absorbed for a second..."
"No, it's okay. You're passionate about finding advantages," I said, trying to sound understanding. "To answer your question, I try not to view too much of the future. Trust me, no good comes from it. Typically, I limit it just for battle or imminent awareness."
"So does everything you see happen as you see it?" Meira questioned.
"Um, it depends, I guess. The closer the event, the more likely it'll occur without too much influence from me. The further out it is, the stronger my actions could impact it. I could make a change that turns out to be harmless, or I could intentionally or accidentally do something that creates an even worse future. Once I see a future, my actions could either prevent it, ensure it happens, or alter it."
I paused and gave her an example of what I meant.
"Let's say I use it now and see that in two seconds, we're all caught in an explosion that takes out hundreds. With two seconds to react, I may be able to protect myself and save some others, therefore altering the future I saw slightly, but I wouldn't be able to locate and stop the explosion. However, if the explosion were to occur a week from now, I could warn everyone, and we'd most likely prevent it altogether. However, in that instance, we could just as easily be ignorant of the fact that stopping the explosion also saved someone who would later become a bigger threat. I have to keep those things in mind. Not only that, but I can't see all the details between now and the moment in the vision. I can only see the outcome. This is why I only limit it to a few seconds into the future. I'm not sure how Viraa could live with seeing so much of the future."
I saw the power as a responsibility to protect my people, Viraa answered. The burdens that accompanied my visions were a small price to pay for shaping the path to a better future.
"Oh, wow! In certain hands, that power could be used to change everything, and no one would ever know..." Meira said, letting go. "It makes me wonder what changes Viraa made. She created the Era of Tranquility. What was the alternative?"
I watched Meira closely. Heart's Eye revealed that she was genuinely excited, despite her goal to capitalize on the information she had gained. Then I realized Meira was the pneumarian of light we'd seen during the expungement sentencing.
