The oppressive, god-like auras of the three Third Generation Sentients pressed down on the metallic landscape of Planet X. Standing before them, King Kael tightened his grip on Bōkyaku, his shadow aura flickering erratically under the sheer weight of their presence.
"It's probably best we retreat for now," Kael muttered, his violet eyes scanning the unmoving triad of absolute power. "It's already futile trying to fight one Third Generation Sentient. With three in front of us, it's impossible. Plus, even if we somehow beat them, I can still sense more within the lab."
Xavian "Deadshot" Voss kept The Omega Reaver raised, his tactical mind quickly assessing the unwinnable odds. "Agreed," Xavian replied, never taking his eyes off the enemies. "We should return to the 'Seventh' Universe to make a plan moving forward."
But as soon as Xavian spoke the words, the area around them violently slammed down with a crushing, hard gravitational pull.
Valakor began glowing with transcendent energy. "Who says we'll let you retreat?" Valakor demanded, his voice echoing with reality-altering authority. "The labs are being protected, which means we can go all out and kill you both."
Kael looked towards Xavian as the immense pressure hit them both, his body glowing subtly with a dark, terrifying aura. "I've heard a lot about your strength from Elara, Xavian," Kael said, his voice steady despite the gravity. "Are you able to keep up?"
Xavian racked the bolt of his sentient sniper rifle, his eyes narrowing. "My strength may not be like yours, but it'll do."
With that, an explosive surge of void energy shot outwards from the Requiem King.
"Essence Manifest: Leak Requiem," Kael commanded.
Fractures of shadows and void energy began to tear across his body, threatening to unravel the very fabric of reality. But to their absolute surprise, Serael moved first.
With a mere thought, Serael activated Chronal Erasure. By manipulating the localized time of the action, she instantly deleted the temporal moments required for Kael's transformation to occur. In a blink, Kael was violently de-transformed, forced back into his base state as if nothing had happened at all.
Xavian acted purely on elite instinct. "Bullet Time Mastery!" he shouted, instantly slowing down time for everyone but himself. Letting it rip, he unleashed a barrage of cosmic rounds aimed directly at Serael's head.
But Krytos blurred into motion, jumping directly in front of Serael. Because his body acted as a conceptual void, he was entirely unaffected by the time-altering effects of Xavian's ability. Using his Singularity Bastion, Krytos took the full force of Xavian’s attacks head-on, collapsing the cosmic bullets into microscopic singularities upon contact and absorbing their limitless energy.
Using the momentary distraction, Kael used his blinding speed to appear right beside Krytos, his blade raised to strike. But Valakor was already there. Activating his Absolute Paradigm Shift, Valakor began to passively rewrite the fundamental laws of physics around him and launched a devastating strike at Kael.
Before the blow could land, a deafening BANG rang out. Xavian had fired a perfectly timed shot that blew Valakor's arm completely off his shoulder. Not missing a beat, Xavian transitioned his assault, commanding, "Phantom Barrage!" He fired multiple intangible, ghost-like projectiles that phased through the battlefield, aiming to strike the three Sentients simultaneously.
By then, Serael had finally broken out of the effects of Xavian's Bullet Time Mastery. Her eyes flashed with temporal fury as she targeted the sniper. "Timeline Convergence," she whispered.
Serael forced every possible future variation of her strike to converge and hit Xavian at the exact same moment in the present. The impossible attack bypassed all physical defenses, slamming into Xavian with devastating, unblockable force.
Kael immediately reacted to protect his ally, utilizing his Dark Harmony of Destruction to fluidly synchronize his shadow manipulation and swordplay to strike Serael. But before his blade could connect, Krytos and Valakor jumped in. Launching a terrifying combined attack of their reality-altering and conceptual abilities, they struck Kael directly. The Requiem King was sent flying backward, his armor cracking as he took massive damage.
Kael managed to gracefully flip mid-air, landing squarely on his feet and sliding across the metallic ground. Refusing to yield, he shot back towards the three Sentients, floating in the air. Xavian, though heavily injured from the temporal strike, leapt high into the air to provide cover.
Still floating in the air, Kael roared, "Infinite Umbra Rift!" A colossal rift opened in the cosmos above, summoning an endless barrage of shadowy, void-forged weapons.
At the exact same time, Xavian, hovering in the air above, aimed his rifle and shouted, "Cosmic Ricochet!" He fired rounds that defied physics, bouncing indefinitely across the battlefield from impossible angles.
The combined attack rained down like an apocalyptic storm, actually faring pretty well as the relentless shadowy blades and cosmic bullets began landing heavy hits on the three Third Generation Sentients.
But Serael simply raised her hand. Activating Chronal Erasure once again, she effortlessly deleted the temporal moments of the attacks, instantly canceling out the devastating barrage as if it had never been fired.
As both Kael and Xavian began falling back towards the ground, Krytos and Valakor launched their counter-strike.
Krytos surged forward, hitting Kael with a devastating blow fueled entirely by the limitless cosmic energy he had stored using his Singularity Bastion. The impact was catastrophic, but Kael’s Obsidian Void Armor instinctively activated. The living shadow armor adapted to the cosmic blast, reflecting the energy back with increased force. Seizing the opening, Kael quickly struck back using Eclipsing Cataclysm, his blade unleashing a strike so powerful it sliced Krytos cleanly in half.
At the same time, Valakor targeted the falling sniper. Using his Omni-Dimensional Rupture, Valakor threw a punch that completely bypassed physical space, landing a brutal hit directly on Xavian. Xavian tried to counter mid-air using Elemental Infusion to channel elemental forces into his weapon for a retaliatory blast, but it simply wasn't strong enough to handle the reality-tearing attacks from Valakor. Xavian crashed into the dirt, bleeding heavily.
After Kael landed on the ground from slicing Krytos in half, he immediately tried to leap back into the air to strike Valakor. But Serael was right there waiting for him.
She used Timeline Convergence to strike Kael with infinite variations of her attack, but Kael's Obsidian Void Armor miraculously adapted once more, forming impenetrable barriers that protected him from the brunt of the temporal onslaught. Kael quickly countered, thrusting his sword forward using Void Edge Nexus to siphon Serael's energy.
But the Chrono-Sovereign was absolute. Serael quickly countered his blade with Chronal Erasure, deleting the moment of his strike entirely, and followed up with a ruthless, bone-crushing punch that slammed Kael into the earth.
Turning her attention to the bisected body of her comrade, Serael casually used Chronal Erasure on Krytos. By erasing the temporal moment where he was sliced in half, Krytos’s body seamlessly merged back together, reviving him perfectly intact as if he had never been touched.
Kael lay battered and exhausted on the ground as Xavian landed heavily beside him, clutching his own severe wounds.
"We need to leave," Kael breathed heavily, looking up at the three invincible, god-like beings standing untouched before them. "We are no match for them currently."
Xavian didn't hesitate. He aimed The Omega Reaver at the ground and tried to open a spatial portal for their escape. But Serael's eyes flashed, and she used Chronal Erasure to delete the action, the portal sputtering out of existence before it could even form.
Knowing they were out of options, Kael tapped into the deepest reserves of his shadow magic.
"Eternal Eclipse!" Kael roared.
He plunged the entirety of Planet X into absolute, suffocating darkness, creating a celestial eclipse that weakened the Sentients' perception and exponentially enhanced the shadows around them. The blinding, endless night gave Kael and Xavian just enough of a distraction.
In the fraction of a second they had, Xavian fired a secondary portal round. The two battered heroes threw themselves into the rift, escaping into the void just a millisecond before Serael used Chronal Erasure once more to delete the darkness.
The light returned to Planet X, but their prey was gone.
