Xavian "Deadshot" Voss arrived in the unfamiliar city. He slung The Omega Reaver comfortably over his shoulder, its sleek, cosmic design concealed beneath the folds of his long coat.
As Xavian walked through the vibrant streets, he couldn't help but find the atmosphere incredibly odd. The city was functioning entirely as usual. There were plenty of people around—ordinary citizens walking their dogs, rushing to work, or laughing with friends. It was as if there wasn't a massive, multiversal war raging just beyond their atmosphere.
Spotting a nearby hot dog truck, Xavian's stomach gave a slight rumble. He walked over, intending to order one, but as the vendor handed it to him, Xavian realized he had absolutely no currency native to this planet. With an awkward apology, he handed the food back and continued down the street.
Watching the oblivious crowds, a heavy realization settled over the sniper. Some planets within the 5 Universes truly had no clue that they weren't alone. To them, this single floating planet was the entirety of existence. Xavian sighed, feeling a pang of sadness. It was tragic to think that at any given moment, a catastrophic force like the Eclipse Sovereignty or King Arion could descend upon this city and wipe it from existence, and these people wouldn't even know what hit them.
Suddenly, the rush of wind from above broke his train of thought.
A man came flying down from the sky, landing heavily onto the pavement in front of Xavian, causing the asphalt to crack slightly under his boots. The man stood tall, possessing broad shoulders and wearing a flowing green cape that billowed heroically behind him.
"I am Sam," the man announced, puffing out his chest. "I am one of the Heroes of this city. We keep watch and make sure the citizens are safe and protected from the outside world."
Before Xavian could respond, another figure descended gracefully from the sky. It was a woman named Solandra, possessing striking, ethereal beauty and an aura of calm authority.
"We detected an unusual spatial anomaly when you arrived," Solandra said, her sharp eyes assessing Xavian. "We should head back to HQ so we can question you. We highly suggest you do not try to resist and simply come with us."
Xavian looked between the two "Heroes," entirely unimpressed but not looking to cause unnecessary collateral damage. "Lead the way," he replied casually.53Please respect copyright.PENANANV0PeaffS8
Inside the Heroes' Headquarters—a high-tech facility hidden within the city's tallest skyscraper—Xavian sat casually in an interrogation chair. Sam and Solandra stood across from him, explaining their situation.
"We are fully aware that there are other planets within our Universe," Solandra admitted, crossing her arms. "But we keep that information strictly secret from the public. It allows them to live safely and without the constant worry of what might be lurking in the dark."
Sam nodded firmly, his green cape shifting. "Some people would say it’s unfair to keep them in the dark, but we know this is what is best for everyone. Ignorance is safety."
Just then, the doors to the interrogation room slid open, and five more heroes walked in. They were a colorful, diverse cast of powered individuals, each introducing themselves with flashy hero monikers. Xavian barely paid attention to their names.
"Now then," Sam said, leaning over the table. "Who exactly are you, and what planet are you from?"
Xavian leaned back, resting his boots on the edge of the table. "My name is Xavian. And I’m not from another planet in your universe. I’m from the Areala Universe."
The room went dead silent. The seven heroes stared at him in absolute shock.
"Another... universe?" Solandra whispered, exchanging a bewildered look with Sam. "We've heard theories that other Universes existed, but we never possessed the technology or magical prowess to look that far."
Seeing their genuine ignorance, Xavian spent the next few minutes breaking it down for them. He explained the layout of the 5 Universes, the 5 Universal Ring, and the catastrophic war currently being waged against King Arion and the Sentients. He finally concluded by stating he needed to go to Planet X.
The heroes were left speechless, their minds entirely blown by the sheer, unquantifiable expanse of the cosmos Xavian had just laid out before them.
One of the newly arrived heroes, a navigator with holographic mapping abilities, cleared his throat. "I... I think I know where that is," he stammered, projecting a set of cosmic coordinates onto a digital pad and sliding it across the table to Xavian.
Xavian glanced at the coordinates, memorizing them instantly. "Appreciate it."
Sam stepped forward, his chest puffed out again with renewed heroic pride. "If this King Arion is as bad as you say, do you need any help? The Heroes of this city could lend you our strength."
Xavian stood up, adjusting his long coat. "No. The threat is far too powerful for you. You'd just be in the way."
Sam let out a booming, arrogant laugh, holding his muscular arms out wide. "Nothing is too powerful for us! We are the protectors of this world! We—"
BANG.
Before Sam could finish his sentence, both of his arms were violently blasted off at the shoulders. Blood sprayed across the pristine floor of the HQ as the hero’s arms hit the ground with a sickening thud.
The entire room erupted into panicked shrieks. The other six heroes scrambled backward in absolute shock, their eyes wide with terror. None of them had even seen Xavian move, let alone draw a weapon. The speed of The Omega Reaver’s bullets, capable of traveling faster than the speed of light, had completely bypassed their perception.
Sam collapsed to his knees, screaming in agony as he began to rapidly bleed out on the floor.
Xavian stood amidst the panic, a cold, dark laugh escaping his lips. The heroes looked at him in total confusion and horror.
"I did it," Xavian said casually, walking over to the screaming, dying hero.
Without breaking eye contact with the terrified protectors, Xavian activated his ability. "Temporal Reload."
The fabric of time around Sam suddenly warped and reversed. The blood that had pooled on the floor flowed back into his body, and his severed arms leaped from the ground, reattaching themselves seamlessly to his shoulders. In an instant, Sam was entirely whole and back to normal, though he sat on the floor, trembling and hyperventilating from the phantom shock of the trauma.
Xavian turned his back to them, walking slowly toward the door.
"You guys are doing a good job of protecting this city," Xavian said, his voice echoing with absolute, deadly authority. "But what I just did right now should be a warning. Your strength is nothing but that of an ant compared to the real powers of the Land of Spade."
With that chilling final statement, Xavian unslung The Omega Reaver. He aimed the sentient sniper rifle directly at the floor and pulled the trigger. A concentrated round of spatial energy tore through the fabric of reality, opening a swirling, glowing portal.
Without looking back, Xavian stepped through the rift, leaving the stunned, trembling heroes behind as he headed straight for Planet X.53Please respect copyright.PENANABmqIwfFG0j
