Night had fully descended upon the Colosseum of Judgment. The artificial magelights that illuminated the arena shifted from a harsh white to a deep, blood-orange hue, casting long, dramatic shadows across the obsidian floor. The air was cool, but the atmosphere was boiling.
The crowd, drunk on the earlier victories of the Six Kingdoms, roared for the final annihilation of the Five Universes. They had watched six champions fall in rapid succession. They expected the remaining fifteen to crumble just as easily.
But in the waiting area, Captain Daichi stood before the remaining warriors. His eyes, usually analytical and cold, burned with a fierce resolve.
"They think we are broken," Daichi said, his voice low but carrying to every corner of the room. "They think the loss of Theron, Mystic, Echo, Finn, Lydia, and Elena signifies our end. But they have forgotten one thing."
Saber stepped forward, unsheathing his blade, the metal humming with a low vibrational frequency. "They forgot that those who remain are the ones who survived the end of their worlds."
Kai Sunblade’s armor began to glow, casting a warm, solar light that pushed back the gloom. "Tonight, we don't just survive. We dominate. No more losses."
The gates groaned open.
"FIGHT 32: SAGE THORNFIELD (AREALA) VS. HELIX (TECHNOLOGY)"
Helix, the drone commander, entered the arena surrounded by a swarm of hundreds of insect-sized mechanical wasps. He sneered at Sage. "Analysis indicates you rely on books. My drones will shred you before you turn a page."
Sage pushed his glasses up his nose. He opened his grimoire, not with panic, but with boredom. "Your drones operate on a hive-mind frequency. A simple disruption rune should suffice."
Sage didn't cast a fireball or a shield. He cast Static Dissonance. A wave of erratic magical energy washed over the arena. Instantly, the hundreds of drones faltered, their lights blinking red. They turned on each other, crashing and exploding in mid-air.
Helix panicked, tapping his wrist controller frantically. "Reboot! Reboot!"
Sage closed his book. "Checkmate." He cast a simple binding spell, wrapping Helix in chains of mana.
"HELIX - ELIMINATED."
As the medics rushed in, the royal telegraphic guard stepped forward with the crystalline scanner. Daichi, watching from the tunnel, narrowed his eyes. The guard scanned Helix—a member of their own Kingdoms. The crystal glowed green, extracting the data of the drone commander.
"They're scanning their own..." Daichi whispered to Saber. "It's not about eliminating us. It's about collecting the data of anyone strong enough to fight."
"FIGHT 33: MARCUS VOIDHAMMER (MIXED) VS. CRAG (THORNE)"
Crag, a behemoth capable of ripping chunks of the floor to throw, laughed as he lifted a boulder the size of a carriage. "Squash little man!"
Marcus stood his ground, raising one hand. "Gravity... creates weight."
He clenched his fist. Gravitational Crush.
Crag screamed as the boulder in his hands suddenly weighed ten times its normal mass. His arms snapped under the pressure, and the rock pinned him to the floor. Marcus walked over, increasing the gravity on Crag’s body until the giant couldn't even lift a finger.
"CRAG - ELIMINATED."
The night continued, and the momentum shifted violently.
"FIGHT 34: MIRA STORMCALLER (AREALA) VS. SYLVA MOSSWOOD (MAGIC)" Sylva tried to animate the earth, but Mira unleashed a Tri-Elemental Vortex—fire, ice, and lightning swirling together. The nature magic withered, burned, and shattered. Mira stood triumphant.
"FIGHT 35: BLAZE IRONWILL (KAIPO) VS. DUROK (THORNE)" Durok the Berserker charged, but Blaze activated Maximal Output. His muscles surged with energy, and he caught the berserker's fist with one hand. With a single punch that broke the sound barrier, Blaze sent Durok flying into the stands.
"FIGHT 36: TERRA EARTHSHAKER (KAIPO) VS. TERRA (ANIMAL)" A battle of namesakes. The Animal Kingdom warrior rode a massive armadillo-like beast, trying to burrow. But Terra Earthshaker slammed her palms onto the obsidian floor. She didn't just manipulate the surface; she manipulated the tectonic plates below. She ejected the beast from the earth and encased both rider and mount in a prison of diamond-hard stone.
"FIGHT 37: KADE IRONFORGE (AREALA) VS. SPIKE (THORNE)" Spike launched bone projectiles, but Kade’s Aegis Wall didn't just block them; it absorbed their kinetic energy. Kade released the stored energy in a pulse that shattered Spike’s bone armor.
"FIGHT 38: DEX SHADOWBANE (AREALA) VS. WHISPER (ANIMAL)" Whisper’s shadow wolves tried to hunt Dex, but Dex was the shadow. He assassinated the wolves before they could howl, appearing behind Whisper with a dagger to the throat. "Yield."
"FIGHT 39: ZARA NIGHTWHISPER (AREALA) VS. BANSHEE (SOUND)" Banshee tried to project auditory hallucinations of Zara's greatest fears. Zara simply smiled. "My fear died with my universe." She engulfed the arena in Absolute Darkness, silencing the Banshee.
"FIGHT 40: ZEPHYR WINDCALLER (KAIPO) VS. STING (ANIMAL)" Sting flew with insectoid wings, trying to poison Zephyr. Zephyr created a Vacuum Sphere, removing the air around Sting. Without air, wings cannot generate lift. Sting plummeted and passed out from lack of oxygen.
"FIGHT 41: LUNA TIDEWEAVER (KAIPO) VS. RIPTIDE (ANIMAL)" Riptide "swam" through the ground. Luna turned the moisture in the air into a Flash Freeze, turning the ground brittle. When Riptide tried to surface, he was trapped in solid ice.
"FIGHT 42: RAVEN DUSKWALKER (AREALA) VS. MELODY (SOUND)" Melody tried to hypnotize Raven. Raven summoned Nightmares of the Void. Melody’s song turned into screams as she was consumed by visions of her own demise.
"FIGHT 43: LYXA MORVAIN (AREALA) VS. ARCANUS PRIME (MAGIC)" Arcanus Prime manipulated raw magic, throwing pure energy blasts. Lyxa’s eyes glowed silver. She Adapted, copying his frequency perfectly. She caught his energy blast, doubled its power, and threw it back.
"FIGHT 44: KAI SUNBLADE (KAIPO) VS. LUX INVICTUS (LIGHT)" A spectacle of blinding proportions. Lux created weapons of solid light. Kai, the user of Solar Magic, simply absorbed them. "Your light is artificial," Kai stated, his armor blazing like a star. "Mine is the sun." He unleashed a Solar Flare that overloaded Lux’s photokinetic abilities, leaving him blind and defenseless.
"FIGHT 45: SABER (MIXED) VS. CRESCENDO (SOUND)" Crescendo absorbed sound to release kinetic blasts. He grinned at Saber. "I know your tricks, former King. You use sound. You just fuel me." Saber stood still, forming the circle with his hands. "You absorb sound? Then absorb this." Saber didn't release a sound. He released a Vibrational Frequency so high-pitched it bypassed Crescendo's absorption and directly resonated with the liquid in his inner ear. Crescendo lost all balance, vomiting and collapsing without Saber ever taking a step.
"FIGHT 46: CAPTAIN DAICHI (MIXED) VS. TORQUE (TECHNOLOGY)" Torque, the combat mechanic with hydraulic limbs, charged Daichi. Daichi didn't move. He activated Strategic Convergence Field. He saw the hydraulic pressure points in Torque’s suit. With three precise strikes of his staff, Daichi ruptured the hydraulic lines. Torque’s suit locked up, freezing him in place. Daichi leaned in close as the guard approached with the scanner. "I see what you're doing," Daichi whispered to the guard. The guard ignored him, scanning the frozen Torque. The device pulsed red, uploading the data of the mechanical suit's failure and the pilot's bio-metrics.
The crowd was silent. The jeers had vanished. The Five Universes had just pulled off a clean sweep of the night session. 15 wins. 0 losses.
Updated Standings: Five Universes: 15 Fighters Remaining. Six Kingdoms: 18 Fighters Remaining.
On the Council platform, Elder Corvus Myrik looked furious. "Impossible. They wiped out our fighters effortlessly."
The Judge sat motionless, but his gaze lingered on the crystal scanners carried by the guards below. The data collection was proceeding ahead of schedule. The loss of the kingdom fighters was irrelevant; their data had been harvested.
In the waiting room, the mood was electric, but Saber remained grim. "We won the battles," Saber said, cleaning his blade. "But the war is shifting. They scanned every single one of their own losers. They are building something. An army that uses our own techniques against us."
"Let them try," Kai Sunblade said, his solar aura dimming as he sat. "We have 15 strong. They have 18 left. We can win this."
"The next round won't be one-on-one," Daichi predicted, looking at the display board where the remaining 6 Kingdom fighters were listed—including the heavy hitters like Resonance Kaine, Grand Magus Elara, and Commander Cygnus-7.
