這本武俠小說，源自一首自己發想的武俠故事，將故事提綱挈領，也就寫成一首五言古體詩： 鶻鷹搏九霄，孤雁入胡天， 落日孤煙斜，明月出天山。 作者希望將每一詩句寫成一部大塊頭的武俠小說，描寫安史之亂後，歷任大唐忠義堂堂主的江湖歷險與忠勇報國的故事。
