I walked out to WhisRhobe, who was sighing in relief that we beat it. I told him to teleport us to the town we came here from. We teleported to the town. Of course, I was weak and went to get some magical healing. WhisRhobe, however, practiced making magical shields far faster, then went to take another class on average magic control and power, when I was healed, I looked at the quest board.
I muttered silently, "Gossip, boring. Dragon quest, I'd be crazy. Chopping wood? Good swing training is not too intense in terms of exertion."
I took the chopping wood quest, and got the rewards from the dragon quest. 2000g! I gaped at the money. WhisRhobe came over to me at that second.
He saw the money and shrugged, "You want to go to the blacksmith and gem store?"
I thought about it, because when you add a gem, it empowers an element. When you learn about something it gets far more powerful. So, if I put on a sapphire, it would be dark and water. Ruby would be fire and light. Diamonds would be all elements. Clear crystal, a relatively common crystal empowers light and dark.
I decided to get a diamond, for 400g a large sum for a large unpolished diamond. I went to the blacksmith and asked him to work on making a four point star shape made of the diamond on my battle axe. He told us to wait a day and come back. He would be done by then.
True to his word, we came back with a diamond infused battle axe done. He charged us 600g for the process and making. The design was apparently 100g alone. We went back to the cursed forest to go to the chopping wood area we needed to go to.
The man there yelled, eagerly, "You're ready to chop wood?"
It turned out that he had a forest behind his house that was intensely thick. I broke through a lot by using my attacks, and put an entire tree in my endless pockets. After that, I went to the guy. He had one more favor.
"My friend lives in that shack," he pointed to a rustic shack by his, "His house has a trapdoor into a labrinth, and he went to map it and he never came back, can you see if he is okay? I'm getting lonely."
I replied at the same time as WhisRhobe, "Sure!"
I would barely live to regret that.

We went into the winding hallways, that seemed to go forever. The wall seemed to be made of reinforced sandstone. The reinforcing material was curious. Black, and extremely tough. We turned left and started to talk to Jayko.
"What do you think of this... Creepy, huh?"
Jayko responded, "I swear I heard some scratching, like claws against the floor. But it's very faint... Only in earshot close to the walls."
We walked forward, and we turned left, we had a mutual agreement to always turn left if there is no way to define which way is better.
I kept studying the curious substance that reinforced the walls. It seemed to react to light, barely though, it was from a living thing. The cells still were alive, and hated light. What I theorized to be a skin or a hide, would bend back. It must be from a dark creature.
We turned again. The scratching Jayko had mentioned was now always audible. We were getting closer. A chill rose up my back like an omen to something; It wasn't good.
I dashed forward, and Jayko followed. The labyrinth was long and winding, but we were strong and durable.
I told Jayko, "You know, I realized we hadn't talked about our adventures. Which one do you want to talk about first?"
Jayko responded briskly, "The first soul mimic. It was not very fun, but I gained much strength. I think it will help me get a new strength. We will get more powerful too."
I told him, "We keep getting stronger, but... We can always get stronger. It's simple. Train and explore. Get experience, get more tactical use. We keep getting stronger that way. That's why we beat a dragon.
Jayko said, "I agree." He smirked, "We did beat a dragon. With our strength we earned. We will become stronger. But, also back to the soul mimic, it scared me, that the soul mimic was strong enough to knock you out."
I responded, agreeing, "It is, but we have improved enough to beat one. Indefinitely."
We turned again, the scratches almost searing in our ears.
It got darker, I realized, "Magical darkness... that feels like it won't get brighter."
Jayko responded, "I have one question. How did you make an inferno?"
I retorted, proudly, "I image trained while learning about fire magic. But, I couldn't actually do it until I figured out the secret to do it."
"Heh, I should try that. Get a new move."
I heard a very loud roar echo through the continually winding labyrinth. Another chill rose up my spine. The scratching came closer. I made a magical shield, but, I heard the scratches pass me in seconds. These creatures were running.
