“Midu, I want to see that little kitten I saw last time. She’s so sad – even though her dad wanted to eat me, she just stood there from a distance, trembling.” Dudu said to his best friend. “It’s far too dangerous,” Midu told him. ‘’I’ll call her Mimi, and I’d like to see her again.’’ Dudu insisted. Mitu finally gave in. He said: ‘’Oh, right, all right. You stay close to me; I want to protect you.’’
At a watering hole, Dudu saw the little lioness lying on the grass all by herself; nearby, her friends were playing together. She spotted Dudu from a distance, ran over to him and wagged her tail very quickly; luckily, she played with Dudu. Mimi’s parents watched from afar as Dudu played with Mimi. Midu watched the big lions closely. They didn’t dare move, but they didn’t run away either. After a while, Dudu said to Mimi: ‘I have to go; my friend Midu needs a bigger patch of grassland to eat on. I’ll come and see you next time.’ Mimi said: ‘OK, will you come and see me?’ Dudu said: ‘Yes, I’ll come and see you.’ They said goodbye to each other and the pride of lions watched them; they showed neither aggression nor any desire to flee; they accepted the friendship of the two little ones.
Dudu and his friend Midu found a large meadow; Dudu ate flowers and roots, whilst Midu ate tall grasses. Far away, little Mimi rediscovered her zest for life and began her day happily with her friends.
