The night after Lillie Rae was taken, the group went home in silence.
No one talked about what happened.
No one knew what to do.
Except Sophie Aitchison, who didn’t seem bothered at all.
“Whatever,” she said as they left the woods. “She’ll show up or she won’t.”
Lilly Wilson stared at her. “Sophie, she was taken.”
Sophie shrugged. “Not my problem.”
Theo Grant clenched his jaw. Mason Clarke muttered something under his breath.
They all went home.
That night
Lilly couldn’t sleep.
Bear paced her bedroom, whining softly, ears twitching at every sound. He kept staring at the window like he expected Lillie to climb through it.
Lilly knelt beside him. “I know… I miss her too.”
Around 2 a.m., her phone buzzed.
Theo: Madison isn’t answering.
Mason: Her mum’s at work. She should be home.
Theo: We’re going to her house. Now.
Lilly grabbed her coat and ran.
