As they descended into the depths of Kara Ada, the narrowing cave walls gave way to a massive, dome-shaped volcanic void. Below, the magma river bubbling in the heart of the island illuminated the pitch darkness with a hellish crimson light. The temperature was so high that the CORE team’s breaths burned their lungs, and the hems of their robes smoked slightly from the heat. Right in the middle of the volcanic void, on a wide obsidian platform above the magma river, stood Abu Nazir. The Fourth Port stone beneath Nazir’s feet had already begun to crack, unlike the previous gateways. However, Nazir was not sacrificing mortals this time; he had plunged his own wand directly into the Port stone, injecting it by blending the pure, destructive volcanic energy of the magma with his own dark magic (Sanguis Vinculum). His eyes had turned completely black, and the magic flowing through his veins spilled out from his skin as crimson lightning. He was at the absolute peak of his power. When Darius stepped onto the entrance of the obsidian platform, the gray light at the tip of his wand shone as if defying the crimson of the cave. “The ritual is over, Nazir,” Darius said. His voice echoed, tearing through the roar of the bubbling lava. “Today, the only thing we’re going to bury inside that stone is your corpse.” Without lifting his head from the Port stone, Nazir looked at the team over his shoulders. There was pure arrogance in his blackened eyes. “Haldun’s loyal dogs...” whispered Nazir. His voice was no longer just a human’s, but muffled and colossal, almost like the voice of the magma beneath the mountain. “I thought you drowned in the Underwater Museum. But since you are so in love with fire... I would be honored to host you in my hell!” Nazir abruptly pulled his wand from the Port stone and raised it in the air: “Magma Erupto!” Three massive pillars of magma tearing away from the lava river below defied gravity, rising into the air and lashing down upon the CORE team like whips of fire. “Scatter!” roared Darius. Within seconds, Kuzey leaped backward, perching atop a high volcanic rock. Shouldering his wand, he took aim: “Diminuendo Maxima!” The golden, piercing beam struck one of the magma whips descending upon Nazir dead center, detonating it. Chunks of lava scattered around like rain. Lidya turned the black volcanic ash and smoke flying in the air into her weapon. She grasped the ash cloud with her hands and roared: “Tenebris Illusio: Umbra Serpentes!” (Shadow Snakes) The ashes transformed into giant black snakes surrounding Nazir, closing in on him to cut off his vision and breath. But Nazir merely grinned. When he struck his wand against the ground, a shield of pure fire (Protego Diabolica) erupted around him. The shield turned Lidya’s shadow snakes to ash in seconds, hurling Lidya backward with its pressure. In the millisecond that shield detonated, Meltem had already descended upon Nazir. Bouncing off the obsidian rocks that were beginning to melt from the heat, Meltem leaped into the air with incredible speed. Instead of throwing her shock discs, she directly drew her dual wielded curved combat knives. Blue lightning crackled over the blades. “Die!” she screamed, coming down toward Nazir’s neck. Nazir countered Meltem’s speed not with his wand, but directly with his left hand. With the volcanic energy accumulated in his hand, he caught Meltem’s blades in mid-air. When pure magic and steel collided, a deafening shockwave rippled out. Nazir hurled Meltem with ruthless force, tossing her toward the edge of the lava river. Meltem barely saved herself from falling into the abyss by somersaulting onto the ground at the last second. “Enough!” Darius’s voice shook the cave. He would not allow his team to be battered. He gripped his wand with both hands. He focused his mind on that absolute void that would freeze this hellish heat of Kara Ada. “Glacius Maxima!” The magic erupting from Darius’s wand was no ordinary ice spell. It was a massive white storm, close to absolute zero, instantly freezing the moisture and oxygen in the air. When the storm covered the obsidian platform, even the magma beneath them began to freeze, turning into black, cracked glass. When Nazir saw this tremendous power, he was surprised for the first time. He swiftly directed his shield of fire forward. Darius’s freezing storm and Nazir’s volcanic fire collided right in the middle of the platform. Red and white magical energies were locked together. The cave violently shook from the collision of these two opposing and massive forces, giant rocks breaking off from the peaks and falling into the magma. “You are not an Auror, Widdershins!” shouted Nazir, his hands trembling as they held his wand. “The darkness inside you is no different from mine! Why do you protect this rotten system?” “I am not protecting the system,” growled Darius. The gray light in his eyes had given way to that cold, dull color of death. “I am cleansing Bodrum of diseased god-wannabes like you!” At the exact point where the connection locked, Darius used one of the most deadly dueling tactics in the Harry Potter universe. He suddenly cut off the ice spell, allowing Nazir’s fire to come at him for a millisecond. The moment Nazir’s shield stumbled forward, Darius swung his wand upwards from below in a deadly arc: “Sectumsempra!” When Darius’s invisible sword strikes ripped through Nazir’s chest, the dark wizard collapsed to his knees. However, the expected last breath or surrender did not come. On the contrary, a deep and dark laugh was heard, drowning out the roar of the cave and vibrating the walls. Despite the blood gushing from his chest, Nazir slowly raised his head. The blackness in his eyes was no longer just a sign of magic, but almost resembled a black hole. “Do you know what your problem is, Widdershins?” whispered Nazir. His voice echoed right inside their minds, in thousands of whispers. “You think magic is just a weapon. I, on the other hand... am magic itself.” Darius’s eyes drifted to the blood flowing from Nazir’s chest. The blood did not evaporate in the heat of the obsidian platform, but instead glowed with a phosphorescent, toxic crimson, slithering like a snake directly towards the capillaries of the Fourth Port stone. Meltem’s eyes widened in horror. “Darius... He took that hit on purpose. He’s bleeding his own blood into the stone!” Nazir, despite those three fatal cuts on his chest, slowly stood up. There was neither pain nor weakness on his face. When his hands rose into the air, the magma river beneath the cave began to swell, as if synchronized with his breath. The blood leaking from Nazir’s wounds stopped; the flesh around the wound formed a volcanic crust—like a dark, magma-sealed version of the Vulnera Sanentur spell—and closed within seconds. “This was not a duel, CORE,” Nazir said, opening his arms wide without even needing to use his wand. “This was a sacrifice. The seal of the Fourth Port could not be broken by mortal blood, but only by the blood of a master. And you completed the ritual in my place.” The moment Kuzey aimed his wand at Nazir’s forehead, Nazir merely snapped a single finger. An invisible, colossal telekinetic shockwave (Repello Maxima) erupted from the center of the platform. No wand, no magic words... Just pure, raw will. The wave was so violent that while Kuzey’s long ebony wand cracked in half, Lidya was torn from the shadows and tossed away. Meltem and Darius flew meters backward toward the cave entrance, as if they had hit an invisible concrete wall. The Fourth Port stone shattered with a loud rumble. The pure, black chaos energy bursting from within merged with the magma river. The ceiling of the cave began to crack, massive obsidian rocks falling into the lava. Kara Ada was on the brink of a volcanic collapse. Nazir stood like a god amidst the collapsing cave and rising fire. The fire surrounding him did not harm him; rather, it bowed before him. “Enjoy the collapse of the island,” echoed Nazir’s voice as he slowly melted into the flames and turned into a shadow. “In the ninth awakening, I will turn this city to ash with my own hands.” While Darius tried to stand up through the pain of his broken ribs, Nazir had already blended into the fire and darkness, vanishing. “Get up!” shouted Darius, spitting out the blood leaking from his mouth. “To the boats! The island is collapsing!” 34Please respect copyright.PENANAnTKs5eKbmx
