A New Mother, A New Family

After the death of his wife, Md. Kabir Hossain’s father became deeply worried about his five children. He was constantly troubled by thoughts of how he would raise them and how he would build a better future for them.

Sometimes in life, people are faced with decisions that are not easy to make. Kabir Hossain’s father eventually thought that if he married again, perhaps he would be able to raise his children properly. He believed that having a mother in the household would make it easier to care for the children. With this hope, he married for the second time.

After his new wife came into the family, Kabir’s father began to hope that perhaps life would now become somewhat easier for his children. But human expectations and the reality of life do not always turn out to be the same.

After the new mother joined the family, various kinds of conflict, hardship, and suffering gradually began to emerge. At that time, the four older siblings were comparatively grown up. Kabir’s father could manage much of their care and responsibility.

But Kabir was still very young—a nursing infant. He needed more than just food; he needed a mother’s affection, care, love, and constant attention.

Kabir’s father had hoped that his new wife would raise Kabir as her own child. But in reality, Kabir gradually became deprived of the maternal love and care he had hoped for. His stepmother did not properly care for or raise him.

Kabir’s father understood how important a mother’s love and care were for a nursing infant. But the circumstances of the family became such that, while struggling to fulfill his responsibilities toward his children, he was unable to make up for the absence of a mother in little Kabir’s life.

Thus, after the death of his mother, another difficult chapter of Kabir Hossain’s childhood began. The child who had lost his mother’s love from the very moment of his birth now began to experience a lack of affection and care within his own home.
