During the lunch break, he headed up to the rooftop to get some fresh air. For fifteen minutes he stood there, letting the wind clear his head. Just as he was about to leave, something caught his eye—a door he hadn’t noticed before.
Strange… I don’t remember seeing that yesterday, he thought.
Curiosity tugged at him as he approached. The door was locked with an old, rusted padlock, but it was so fragile it had already snapped in two. Akira hesitated for a moment, then pushed the door open.
Inside was a long, dim corridor stretching into the shadows. At the end stood another door, this one secured with a brand-new padlock. He tried pulling at it, but it wouldn’t budge. The lock was solid, untouched.
What perplexed him even more was the symbol carved into the door itself: the number VII seven, in Roman numerals.
Akira stepped back, unease curling in his stomach. Why was there an abandoned corridor here? And why had someone made sure to secure the second door so carefully109Please respect copyright.PENANANwfwal8Zpn
