Outside the Ellis building, the serene night scenery was interrupted by the headlights of Hunter’s truck as he pulled over to the side of the curb. The passenger door popped open and Floy hopped out. The college senior in the driver’s seat got out as well, without the haste that his passenger displayed.
“Hey.” He called out to her retreating figure before she slipped inside the Victorian mansion. “We got your back. If you need anything.”
“Yep.”
A brown haired sophomore stepped out from the backseat now that the exit was clear for him. He saw Hunter light a cigarette and shook his head when he was offered one as well. The two boys silently watched their vocalist stumble across the lawn and up the small set of wooden steps leading to the mansion’s grand entrance.
“Yep.” Floy mumbled to herself as she stepped into the lobby of her dorm.
The security guard at the front desk looked up from her crossword and smiled at the freshman girl. “Evening miss.”
“Yep.” She continued to mumble the same word to herself over and over as she made her way to the stairwell.
“Yep.” Floy climbed the stairs to the top floor.
“Yep.” She saw a few upperclassmen chatting in the hallway and she quietly avoided eye contact as she passed by.
“Yep.” The freshman stood in front of her door for a moment, looking at the whiteboard that hung there. She wiped the board clean with one arm and scribbled ‘I’m sorry’ on it before going inside.
As soon as the door closed behind her, Floy slid to the ground and wrapped her arms tightly around her knees. Her entire body shook with violent sobs as tears flowed down her cheeks and onto Valerie’s t-shirt. The t-shirt that still smelled like the girl that just broke up with her.126Please respect copyright.PENANAjxHKyJOzB9
