After suffering and nearly dying from torture by a witch who held her captive for the past 180 years, Cruor-et-pereo (Cep) is let go into the real world by the witch. She spends the next 20 years trying to recover from the damage caused by the witch in a world where creatures like her, known as Saltaturni, live amongst humans and in customs she's not used to. However, she begins to notice Saltaturni around her dying. Not wanting to face the same fate after finally having freedom, she and a group of Saltaturni set off to the home world, The Incimus, to save their community.
