Her heart hammered in her chest as black rain pounded against her wine red rain coat. Thunder clapped to the lightning dancing in the moody gray sky. The uneven cobbled road started to flood as she hurtled down the street as fast as her legs would carry her. The houses were deserted, bloody handprints smeared over the glass windows, doors swung open in the wind or hung limply off their hinges, as an eerie whistling filled the cold and dense air like a siren call.
She kept her head down and pulled her hood over as far as it would go to conceal her face. She kept her free hand balled up inside her sleeve cautions not to let any rain touch any bare skin.
At the end of the road she veered right, coming to an abrupt halt where she was faced with a puddle the size of a small pond. It was pitch black and if it hadn't been splashing every time a raindrop crashed against the surface it could have easily been mistaken for a pit of tar. She turned around and ran in the other direction making up for the moments she had lost stopping for that brief moment. She turned right again on the first chance she came across, turning into, link parkway, running down the road which was a dead end. Franticly searching the house numbers till she found one fifty two it was the only blue door and it was shut. She looked over her shoulder to see the street deserted, she turned her attention back to the house rummaging through her jeans pockets finding lipstick, a lolly pop, a disheveled receipt, until she tumbled across her keys, the rain if possible was beating down faster and harder the longer she stood still so she closed the gap between her and the house in a few large strides fumbling with the key in the lock until it clicked and the door opened she pushed over the threshold and slammed it shut behind her.
The silence inside the hall was deafening. The stairs against the wall lead into darkness and the doorways into the kitchen, living room, and dining room looked like black holes. Sinking to the floor her back slid down the wall leaving black smudges behind as she let out the breath she had been holding in. 20Please respect copyright.PENANASwQV9xYv23
