P leaped forward.

The blue-electric projectile tore past the back of his head.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡv7sEfcyhqG

It struck the ground behind him, electricity crackling across the pavement.

At the same moment, Miu landed on the roadside far behind Mei, near the pavement, cracking the ground on impact.

She turned to aim.

After one roll, P noticed Mei's pupils narrowing into slits.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡUHd5O8h3EW

Both her hands gripped the axe she'd first swung at him.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡi1DkGc8ADx

His eyes flicked past her — Miu was lining up a shot.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡeXjtcBuzHc

P tapped the ground.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡetWztuIvR2

TAP!

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡozFKCijKOi

Mei struck at the same moment.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡ6JeZwpT8ce

WHACK!

Her cutting attack landed!

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡtjBRtin8gM

"Huh?" Mei thought, confused.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡT6m8MPCWc5

It hit nothing but empty space.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡ9SaeyiraB7

WHIISSH!

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡQTRDlpforR

P was already airborne.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡUSuyNgZIE2

Looking down at Mei, he watched the two bullets strike the spot he'd just left.

She tossed her rifle aside.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡCrguu0ya3L

"He disappeared in a second," said Miu.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡ5Q2sSZc9gO

BZZZTEEEW!

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡoYI9KGkNNS

Two small dimensional rifts opened beside her. She reached into them and pulled out a quiver of arrows and a bow.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡhWUcStS34K

"He's not a normal human," said Miu, and gave chase.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡKAe4DtEjWS

TAK! TAK!

TAK....

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡ6xPBQPOuWe

CLENCH!

Mei tightened her grip on the axe.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡTFLCoV1qHM

"I couldn't track his movement," said Mei.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡDbRnPD3eRr

TAK! TAK!..

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡc2hwx7Mk4z

Both women took off after P, into the busy street.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡZVyfqoegKA

"GOD-DAMN!" P ducked, dodging Mei's axe.

FWHOM-

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡml081ZwXsG

*"They won't stop,"* P thought, tilting back.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡTzdDDLB3AU

He dodged an arrow that whistled past his head.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡUV8QJSJI5B

*"Chasing me!"* P thought.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡMoBZWqvIKg

He sprinted down the busy roadside.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡoLIl9uqb0c

TMP! TMP!

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡpyczULzL2h

TMP! TMP!

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡPwkUr0NxAV

VROOOOOOM—!

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡ1uUqiwiPOp

Cars and trucks roared past, pedestrians strolling the pavement, completely unaware of the three people about to turn their peaceful afternoon into a disaster.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡm6g4SA6Go3

WHOOSH—!

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡZeg7QqZP0j

An arrow flew past P's head.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡKf6ERJr6sC

"JESUS!" P exclaimed.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡ5a8WGdIaux

"ARGGH... MY LEG!" a pedestrian shouted.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡ3tRFrQBzJR

"GET OUT OF THE WAY!" P shouted, shoving a man aside and sprinting past.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡTdrGBjnyph

"HEY! WHAT THE FUCK—?!" the pedestrian yelled.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡjVVV0iuiYE

P ducked.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡ0a9LMZkq9R

SHING—!

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡQ58ORei2lt

Mei's axe sliced the air above him, narrowly missing.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡXcBFx9akWV

KRAAASH—!

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡvWZWnftR2J

The blade struck a signpost.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡRUfDWonGj7

"GET OUT OF THE WAY!" P shouted again, smacking one pedestrian aside and shoving past another.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡR7yfCDHkL4

"OI! WATCH WHERE YOU'RE GOING!"

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡVPoyOuCU58

"WHAT THE HELL?!"

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡ7mgfm5MbVG

P ignored them. He had bigger problems.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡu6qgziNhpR

"THAT BASTARD JUST PUSHED ME!" a pedestrian shouted.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡKwEDQ10pIi

"YOU SON OF A BITCH!" P shouted back, pointing.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡb553ok13pI

"Fuck you!" the pedestrian shouted.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡ52PNLnmxkL

TWANG!

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡZ3fUHidE0Z

Another arrow streaked toward him.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡSf4XRbK7Un

P tilted his head.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡVN31kbtbBs

FWOOSH!

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡmZdQPJxxrf

It grazed his hair before burying itself in a utility pole.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡT1qRSIO08r

Behind him, Miu ran with her bow raised, eyes calmly tracking his movements.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡwoyIpHWZlZ

*"He's running so fast — if we really wanted to, we could catch him instantly, but..."* Miu thought.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡyAyzMoeIAX

*"We've already slowed ourselves down to a normal human's pace, and he's still outrunning us..."* she thought. *"Feels a little unfair."*

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡzfz2nIJuw2

She recalled the moment P flipped through the air, dodging both Mei's slash and her bullets.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡHXfvjWW7hu

*"He can't be human,"* Miu thought.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡuxTRBdPkVN

Mei raced beside her, gripping her enormous axe.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡWifCY9eHY7

"MIU! DON'T HURT THE HUMANS!"

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡt8dWIHvHrv

"I know," Miu shouted.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡmlYzjhg1Jg

"THEN WATCH WHERE YOU'RE SHOOTING!" Mei shouted.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡypo5SX05cx

Miu glanced at the arrow lodged in the pole. "...Understood."

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡVsybB5nReo

She drew another arrow.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡJqV213sFRk

P glanced over his shoulder.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡ5syve5Z24x

"SHIT!"

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡgyCyM10KTE

WHOOSH—!

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡarqRrdXJ4u

Mei swung.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡl0hKPBBqBO

P ducked beneath the blade and cut direction sharply, leaping onto the hood of a passing car.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡe4AqKkZaDb

THUD!

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡiFATGN7vwG

"WHAT THE—?!" the driver shouted, slamming the brakes.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡMssUmHExy4

SKREEEEEE—!

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡ6gax2lOuIN

P ran across the hood, up onto the roof, and jumped onto the back of a delivery truck.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡ1zu2Vn1ip8

BAM! BAM! BAM!

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡhPnA4Ztxg0

He sprinted across the truck's roof as it swerved between lanes.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡvAZsq7j0fi

The driver leaned out his window. "GET OFF MY TRUCK! YOU NIG-GUH!"

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡgzxA8pWY9v

P jumped.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡKWtjOGVnJU

WHOOSH—!

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡjvvBRokG97

CRASH!

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡmzrx4WE6NP

He landed on the roof of another car before leaping to the pavement.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡJyG1J01Goy

"MY CAAR!" the driver cried out.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡspgtxf59Xe

"Soooow-rrrrry!" P apologized, still running.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡmY7ShfTMgT

Behind him—

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡ5orGFLhyrZ

BAM!

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡQWf9pcic0g

Mei landed on the delivery truck's roof, denting the metal under her boots, and launched herself after P.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡxdKbcL8Lmh

Miu followed, landing on a nearby car's roof with far less noise.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡTG3e93Xpr8

"HEY THERE!" the driver called out to Miu through the window, calm and sweet, while his wife glared at him from the passenger seat.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡnSqf3ixQTz

He noticed her glare just as his vision was suddenly blocked by—

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡ0o2vGhEfLF

SLAP!

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡkSNx9FRAZF

TWANG!

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡFVN5LzLnNf

An arrow shot toward P's back.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡZZlH3UyhU5

He twisted aside. It missed, striking a traffic light's support pole instead.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡ6Tun5ulNNl

CRACK!

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡ1VodvvN9OR

The pole tilted dangerously.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡZl39jfZtjL

Mei eyed the damage. "MIU!"

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡyFLkgEnFov

"It missed him," said Miu.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡFkuavMphs9

"THAT'S NOT THE POINT!" Mei shouted.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡFFK9csWv5Q

P darted between two cars.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡkW0topnZVD

HONK! HONK! HONK!

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡVyIr9m28nO

A truck swerved to avoid him, its rear end slamming into a parked car.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡ66s6EV3ELt

KRAAASH!

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡSm1bY2eHdq

Glass scattered across the road.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡTnzm1QxyMa

P didn't look back. He crossed the remaining lanes, leapt over a fallen motorcycle, and reached the far pavement.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡQGqlNgsrcg

TMP. TMP.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡtXyQjKpFD0

TMP. TMP.....

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡM1PUwFY0DA

His feet pounded the pavement as he ran toward a row of buildings.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡo3xRvBJNv9

A woman carrying shopping bags stepped right into his path.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡHFtiqNta0E

"OHH!" she said.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡucPMp9effl

"Excuse me, mam—"

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡtQK0JUucnc

P grabbed and moved her aside, kept running.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡSqYBpuRWJY

Behind him, Mei landed hard, cracking the asphalt beneath her feet.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡCbhszXNPnz

TAK!

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡuuofQssx7l

Miu landed beside her. Both resumed the chase.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡa93oqj9o2F

Mei raised her axe.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡjCbqxw70Ei

SHING—!

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡKal5SDCin8

A dark, curved slash tore through the air.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡxAyoUzZZen

P ducked. It passed over him and sliced clean through a shop's awning.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡY9DmUeptnC

KRRRRAAASH!

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡ198Xak8yWS

He suddenly cut left.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡHRTb2MfQBT

WHOOSH!

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡaVcN7xmcfW

Crossing the pavement, he headed straight for a convenience store, its glass entrance dead ahead.

KRAAASH—!

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡKrMeUO2JV0

He burst straight through the glass door.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡAhNRoTuP2h

The store owner jolted up from behind the shelf, shocked and furious, unsure how to react.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡy48hSvifFk

"FUCK YOU, NIGGA!" the Japanese shopkeeper screamed as P came flying toward him.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡldZm2e4QRg

P grabbed the counter, but it toppled onto the owner instead.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡHczIseQaBy

BAAAAAAM!

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡ2IgF8cvCc1

"UGHHH— MY BACK!" the owner shouted.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡaM17fn2uUB

Snacks, products, and plastic containers scattered everywhere.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡdnPyimmBiy

TMP. TMP...

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡTUSIVQoYCv

P sprinted for the black door at the back of the store.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡKjiYugrKBE

Behind him—

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡQYVRdUK8h6

KRAAASH!

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡrdSECXTMlz

Mei and Miu burst through the shattered entrance.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡJ7p9q7bZVJ

Mei's eyes widened as she spotted the collapsed counter — and P.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡ7b7f29uTIT

"Shoot him!" she shouted.

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡ4m60vb3qaU

BOOM- KRAAASSHCK!

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡMRklupRrZn

P burst through the door—

28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡnj4GtpzbL4

but the next thing he saw was a small balcony, and a railing...28Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡDjDISoVgDr
