“Necessary needles/drugs have now been put into your body. You have 12 hours. Every person that dies adds 6 hours to the timer.” Apollo mentioned. His voice echoed into everyone’s head.
“The game begins now.”

Kieran was leaning on a wall in the alleyway, twindling his thumbs.
“Ok… breathe, Kieran. You’re going to… You can do this.”
“Sup.”
Ciara was standing above him. He immediately stood up and walked backwards slowly.
“Hey, where are you going?”
“For… for all I know you could be the Murderer, stay away!”
“Ok, same? Just relax, man.”
Kieran breathed out.
“Chill out, I wouldn’t murder you anyway. We wanna win something for us, right?”
“…Right.”
It was awkwardly silent for a short while.
“So, Ciara, why did you choose to come? I thought we agreed I would do this.”
“I know, but I couldn’t miss the opportunity, and if you fail then we need a backup, no?”
“Didn’t anyone at Eclipse stop you?”
“Na.”
“Wish they did.”
Ciara’s eye twitched slightly.
“Ok, what’s your problem? You’ve been mad at me ever since-”
Kieran walked towards her, whispering:
“Is it not against the rules, actually? Two of us are from the same-”
“SHUSH!” Ciara put her hand around his mouth and sat the two down.
Vera walked past the two. She seemed like she was looking around for people.
“Yo! What’s your name again?” Steve shouted from across the road.
“Vera! You?”
“What?”
“VERA! YOU?”
“VAGINA?”
“WHAT? VERA! V. E. R. A!“
Silence.
“You don’t shout very loud, do ya? Name’s Steve!”
“Oh my god, I’LL JUST CROSS THE ROAD, WAIT THERE!”
“What?”
“ARE YOU HARD OF HEARING OR SOMETHING?”
Ciara laughed slightly. Vera turned around for a second, but thought nothing of it.
The two left and went inside a cafe.
Ciara moved her hand from his mouth before grabbing his shirt and pulling him back up to his feet. “Apollo is watching in case you forgot, and if he catches on…”
“Whoa.” Robin was watching from afar. Soleil was not too far behind her.
“Are they like…”
“A thing?”
Robin and Sol looked at each other before laughing.
“Come here, you two! More the merrier!” Robin beckoned them with her hand.
Ciara let Kieran go before walking out of the alleyway.
“We can win this, k? Unless you’re evil or something. Then it’ll probably just be me.”
“Whatever.”
Kieran turned around and saw spray cans on the floor.
Rattle.
Pssh!
A bright red colour.
It was full.

Kieran, Ciara, Robin and Sol all walked across a few streets until they were outside one of Leya’s supermarkets.
“Oh, speaking of Leya, I wonder where everyone else is.” Kieran opened the store door.
“What are you doing?” Sol walked into the shop.
“We need to get something to eat, no?”
“Eh… alright.”
They all walked into the store, looking around for something to eat.
“Everything in the fridges are just… sandwiches.” Robin cringed at the sight of the fridges.
“Even weirder that everything is fully stocked. Nothing seems touched at all.” Kieran sprawled himself to the floor.
“What are you doing?” Robin stopped searching for food.
Kieran licked the floor.
“Tastes like nothing. It's as clean as anything. Weird.”
He licked it again, moving his finger down the floor.
“No dirt or anything.”
“That was fucking disgusting.” Ciara walked off.
“What’s wrong with sandwiches, Robin?” Sol asked before walking over and picking up a mackerel sandwich.
“Disgusting. Hate them.”
Robin looked at Sol’s hand.
“Mackerel?”
“…Yeah?”
“Mackerel. In a sandwich.”
“Don’t forget the mayo and tomato.”
“I’m…”
“And garlic!”
“Yeah.”
Robin walked away into the fruit and vegetable aisle. Sol looked bewildered.
“Ok.”
He reached into his pocket.
“Yep, still there.”

Kieran and Ciara were looting all kinds of food. Corned beef, rice, and those snack boxes with small chicken goujons inside. They completely emptied the shelves before rushing to the treat aisle as well.
Robin picked up some apples, strawberries, grapes and tangerines.
They spent a while picking up resources before coming back out with multiple bags. Robin was digging in her bag for an apple before she accidentally bumped into Ali.
“Oh, sorry.”
“Hey, it's cool.”
“Ali!” Kieran waved, passionately.
“Oh, finally found you! Ok, Kieran, I just need you for one minute.”
“What?”
“Just come with me!”
Ali rushed off, grabbing Kieran’s hand as he dropped his bag.
He took him all the way down to the centre of the town, where the large mall resided.
“What’s up?”
“Just get in here!” Ali pushed open the door.

“So… you gonna tell me what’s up?”
“Kieran, I… I have a problem.”
He went into his pocket and took out his disc, pressing against it as his shotgun generated in front of him.
“I’m the Hunter.”
“Wh… you just tell me like that?”
Ali picked up his shotgun.
“Well, I didn’t want to be a Hunter!”
“No, I mean… Don’t you find that risky?”
“Of course it’s risky, but what the fuck am I meant to do? I don’t want to kill anybody-”
“You know, if I was the Sheriff I would’ve killed you the moment that gun spawned. To defend myself, obviously.”
Ali took in those words slowly.
“Huh? I mean… are you?”
“I dunno.”
Kieran raised his eyebrows, going into his pocket as Ali stepped back slightly.
“What?”
“Or even the Murderer.”
“Kieran, you’re scaring me.”
“Chill out.”
“Kieran. What’s your role?”
“Don’t you think you should’ve asked me that before you revealed to me you’re a Hunter?”
“What’s your role, Kieran.”
“Could have a weapon, you know.”
“KIERAN! ROLE!” He raised the shotgun to him.
“Would it be preferable if I was a Civilian? Because I am.”
Kieran put both of his pockets inside out. Nothing inside.
Ali sighed, pushing him slightly with the shotgun before putting it back in the disc.
“Man, what the hell is wrong with you?”
Kieran laughed to himself slightly.
“Was it meant to be funny?”
“I’m just having fun!”
“It’s not funny! I could’ve killed you and ended the game here if you were the Murderer, or I would’ve killed an innocent Civilian and you would’ve lost out.
“Luckily, I’m not the murderer then! Come on, I need to get my food back.”
Ali sighed, walking out as Kieran slowly followed.
“Can you keep my identity a secret? Please?”
“As long as you don’t kill Civilians, sure!”
“If it was up to me, I wouldn’t kill anybody.”
“Thank god.”
Kieran was holding something in his left hand.
Must be putting it back in his pocket.

It took a while but one by one everyone managed to meet up in the cafe that Steve and Vera were in.
There was a big table where all 13 of them were able to sit. Sol was the first to speak.
“So, here’s something I want to do.”
“Go on.” Eva sipped a coffee she made when she arrived at the cafe.
“So, we’re in a circle. And… I was thinking that maybe we could introduce ourselves and the reason why we’re here! I’ll start. I’m Soleil, call me Sol, and I work for a chocolate factory, and we want to go global, so that’s why I’m here!”
Everyone scanned their eyes across the table.
“This isn’t school, Soleil.” Robin propped up her head with one hand as she drooped forward and swallowed an entire strawberry whole. “Although, I am interested to see why everyone’s he-”
“I’m Kieran! I think you all know that from when we were in that room with Apollo. Here to help fund the indie game company called Eclipse I share ownership with with 4 of my friends.”
Robin muttered. “I wasn’t done.”
“5.”
Everyone looked at Ciara.
“And how would you know it’s 5?” Sable looked up and down at Ciara.
“I didn’t say 5. I said nice. I… I said nice.”
“To break the awkwardness going on here, name’s Steve. I’m here for my charity.”
“Oh, same! What’s your charity for?” Cres seemed intrigued.
“Uh. Who’s next?” Steve scanned the room before pointing at the person opposite him. “You!”
He raised his finger, pointing at himself.
“Yeah.”
Robin raised an eyebrow at Steve.
“F-F-Felix. I am from Paris, France. Here for company.”
“Why the hell is he speaking like a caveman?” Steve whispered to Robin who was next to him.
“Shut up. English is obviously not his strong suit.”
“No shit.” Steve stopped whispering. “So, ‘F-F-Felix’, we’re ALL here for our company. So what does yours do? That’s the whole point of this.”
“Hey, Steve, stop. Let’s just move on.” Robin pushed him slightly.
“Eva. I’m the lead singer for the Wet Sock Sniffers.”
“The fuck?” Sol squealed, trying to hold in his laughter. “Is that actually your-”
“Band name, yeah. You’re lucky I didn’t say the full name.”
“Full name?” Leya questioned.
“Wet Sock Sniffers In Pee-”
“Jesus Christ.” Leya looked up at the roof, laughing slightly.
“Hey, Ali. Guess you're not the only band guy here after all!” Kieran nudged. Ali just sighed.
“Guess it's my turn then. My name’s Alistair. My band name is Alastor, but outside of professional business I like to just be called Ali.”
“And I’m Leya. Founder of the Leya’s Sold supermarket cha-”
“Ok, we all know who you are.” Steve rolled his eyes.
“Speaking of, why are you here? You look… rich enough. And everyone knows your business?” Eva got up and went behind the cafe counter to make herself a latte.
“Everyone HERE knows my business. I want to go nationwide, not city-wide. Possibly even get global.”
“I see.” Vera turned to Cres.
“I’m Cres, full name Crescent but just… Don't call me that. I’m the founder of the Blackrose Charity.”
Kieran turned to Ciara.
“And who are you?”
“I’m Ciara, and I’m here to…. uh…”
Everyone was looking at Ciara until she directed her focus on Eva, who was doing a strange pattern using microfoam, eventually creating a swan.
“You seem… good at that.”
“Hey, you didn’t say why you’re here.” Eva allowed her latte to cool.
“Uh…”
“Ciara?” Ali took a bite of an apple that Robin threw to him. “Thanks, Robin.”
“No problem.”
Ciara continued stammering and stuttering unless she shot up and ran out the cafe.
…
“Anyone else… find that suspicious?” Steve questioned.
“Maybe she just gets nervous talking about herself?” Sol moved his chair outward.
“That makes no sense!”
“Well, our introductions are gonna have to be put on a hold.”
“I’ll go look for her.” Kieran offered.
Ali and Leya simultaneously said “I’ll come wit-”
“I don’t think that’s a good idea. I think the lot of you have forgotten why we’re here, this isn’t some stupid meet and greet.” Cres stood up and went to the door, trapping everyone inside.
“Yeah, the three of you could be in cohorts and we’d never know.” Vera pointed at Kieran, Leya and Ali.
“There’s only two bad guys. Murderer and Deceptor.” Soleil shook his head.
“Technically three, the Hunter could team up with them.” Steve’s eyes scanned the three.
“What’s your point?” Leya stood up, before going up to Cres. “Just move, man. Come on.”
“I feel like we can just resolve this if we all go?” Robin stared blankly at Cres.
“Well, actually, yeah.” Vera moved Cres out of the way and opened the door. They all followed except Eva who was still drinking her latte.
“I’ll wait here. She might come back.”
“Alright. Let’s go!”

Everything was empty. No sign of Ciara. Kieran suggested that they split up. It would be easier if all of them went in different directions and then met back up in the cafe once they’ve finished looking.
Steve was searching around in the mall, looking into windows of different shops to see if Ciara was in there.
“HEY!”
He shouted, but was met with no response.
“Ciara, stop hiding. Did you really get that offended because we asked you a question? Jeez.”
Clack.
THUD!
“What the hell?”
“God, that hurt.”
There was someone planted on the stairs. It was like they fell from the sky.
“You’re not… Ciara.”
…
“Where’s the rest of you guys? Do you know where they all went?”
“Who’s askin’?”
“Don’t you recognise me? I was in the room!”
“Oh, right. Apollo’s… right hand man.”
“DON’T CALL ME THAT!”
“Shit, sorry.”
“We need to regroup. All of you. There’s no time to explain.”
“Did Apollo let you enter? Do you have a role now? Are you playi-”
“SHUT UP.”
“Why are you so short tempered?”
“Just… UGHH! Listen. Long story short: I’m going to help you and everyone else escape, and I haven’t got much time until Apollo comes back, which is only 6 hours. Like I said, once everyone is together I’ll explain everything.”
“6 hours is plenty of time, Eiliot.”
“Ezra!”
“That’s what I said.”
Ezra looked around curiously.
“Why did you think it would be a good idea to split up and find her?”
“How do you know we-”
“I’ve been watching, obviously. Don’t you think the murderer would’ve killed someone since everyone is split up? Now come on. We can’t risk anyone dying right now. This would’ve been more useful if I knew everyone’s roles. What are you? And be honest.”
“Civilian.”
“I’ll… trust you.”

Sol and Robin were the first two to return to the cafe. Eva gave the two bottles of water, but they both didn’t notice. The two kept eye contact as they spoke. From Eva’s side, it seemed that the two were having a personal conversation.
“Am I… interrupting?”
“O-oh no! Sorry, I… yeah. Thanks!” Robin grabbed the bottle. The two eventually sat down before Sol took out his disc.
“W-wait-”
“Eva, it’s fine. He’s… the sheriff.” Robin smiled.
“Yeah, I feel like… me and Robin have been bonding really nicely and they seem trustworthy enough to-”
“Ok, but why show it to me?”
“Well I’m just thinking… if somebody gets murdered or hunted while we’re all looking for Ciara, then the Murderer or Hunter couldn’t possibly be you because you’ve been here, so I think it's pretty obvious that either somebody dies and you’re confirmed to not be evil, unless you’re the Deceptor, or nobody dies and it's logically… you.” He raised his revolver to Eva.
“You could make this process go quicker if it is you. Role.”
The door slowly opened as Sol immediately returned the revolver back to his disc. Everyone was flooding in as Ezra ran behind the counter of the cafe. Ciara wasn’t with them.
“Ok, so! I know I need to explain why I’m here-”
“Where’s Vera?” Steve turned around and slammed the door open.
“Wait! Steve.”
Steve looked at him as if he was mad.
“I need the Sheriff to kill me. Or anyone with a killing role, really. That way, I can go back to the real world and find where Ciara and Vera are and bring them back before Apollo comes back to Floor 18.”
Sol had his disc in his hand, forgetting to put it in his pocket.
“You! Kill me, now!”
“Shit.” Sol muttered to himself. He spawned in his revolver.
“I’m not gonna shoot you until you tell us why you’re here.”
“Yeah, and what was all that shit about escaping?” Steve closed the door back.
“Ok, stop. Stop with the questions.”
Silence.
“How do I say this… you’re all… pawns in Apollo’s weird, twisted game. I’ve seen it happen so many times. Only, it was with very few people. I had no choice but to follow him, let him do his experiments and find ‘exceptional people’. We’ve never done anything like this.”
“What are you trying to say?” Ali leaned in.
“Apollo isn’t here to help your business. Everyone who dies…”
“What?”
“Will actually die.”
…
“You’re chatting shit, man. I’ve done my research and Apollo OWNS this entire building… no… this entire company. There’s so many health and safety checks and-”
“It’s a corrupt world, Sable. One that we can’t control but one we can try to temporarily put a stop to, so please trust m-”
“How do we know we can trust this guy?” Ali looked scornfully. “Like, even if Apollo is this big bad guy, why take the risk of warning us? All 13 of us? Not only that, but why didn’t you help the smaller groups before us? In whatever simulation THEY had to be in? And if you wanted us to escape, why couldn’t you just turn off the simulation, or hell, detach the L32 headsets?”
“Apollo has the simulation protected with too many things I can’t access. Therefore, I can’t just destroy or turn off the simulation. And I can’t detach the headsets either because of the Pro Lock. They only can come off once the simulation ends.”
“Won’t you die if I kill you then?”
“I haven’t assigned myself to a role, so The System shouldn’t be able to kill me because it doesn’t know I exist, therefore I shouldn’t be killed.”
“So all we have to do is kill the Murderer, really.” Kieran put his hands in his pockets.
“Yes. And we can’t do that because what if Vera or Ciara is the murderer?” Ezra walked up to Sol before grabbing his hand and making the gun point towards his head.
“Trust me.”
