The days were filled with classes, homework, and the same familiar routine.

Morning greetings.

Studying together when teachers assigned group work.

None of it felt special anymore.

It had simply become part of my life.

One Monday morning, our homeroom teacher walked into the classroom with a stack of forms.

The room instantly became quiet.

"I have an announcement."

Everyone looked up.

"Next month, our class will be going on a one-day educational trip."

The classroom erupted with excitement.

"A trip?"

"Really?"

"Where are we going?"

The teacher raised a hand for silence.

"You'll receive all the details on these permission forms. Make sure your parents sign them."

As the papers were passed around, Narin leaned toward me.

"You're coming, right?"

"I don't know."

"You don't know?"

"I have to ask my mother."

He frowned.

"You have to come."

"I'll try."

"No," he said with a grin. "You'll come."

I smiled faintly.

"You're very confident."

"I have a good feeling."

That evening, after dinner, I handed the permission slip to my mother.

She read it carefully.

"It's only for one day?"

"Yes."

"Your teachers will be there?"

I nodded.

She looked at me for a moment before smiling.

"Then you can go."

A smile spread across my face.

"Really?"

"Of course."

"Thank you."

From the living room, one of my older brothers laughed.

"Look at him. He's actually excited."

"I'm not."

"You smiled."

"I always smile."

"No, you don't."

My little sister pointed at me.

"He's lying!"

The whole family laughed.

I couldn't even argue.

The next morning, I placed the signed form on the teacher's desk.

Narin noticed immediately.

"You got permission."

"I did."

"I told you."

"You guessed."

"No."

He folded his arms proudly.

"I know you."

I looked at him for a second.

Did he?

Sometimes it felt like he noticed things about me that even I didn't notice.

The day of the trip finally arrived.

Students gathered outside the school before sunrise.

The buses were already waiting.

Everyone was carrying backpacks filled with snacks and drinks.

The atmosphere was louder than usual.

Teachers struggled to organize everyone.

"Line up!"

"No running!"

"Stay with your class!"

I stood quietly near the bus, waiting for instructions.

"Phawin!"

I turned.

Narin jogged over with two bottles of water in his hand.

"I brought an extra one."

"You planned this?"

He shrugged.

"I thought you might forget."

"I didn't."

"I know."

He held out the bottle anyway.

"But now you have two."

I accepted it with a small smile.

"Thank you."

As the teacher began assigning seats, everyone rushed onto the bus.

I chose a window seat near the middle.

A moment later, someone dropped into the seat beside me.

"You didn't think I'd let you sit alone, did you?"

It was Narin.

He fastened his seatbelt and looked out the window.

"This is going to be fun."

I looked at the busy school courtyard as the engine started.
