“Realease me this instant, you… you thugs!”
Leveret cried, flailing slightly at the hands of the guards.
He was suddenly thrust into the street, knocking him onto his hands and knees.
“Gah! For the love of the Mystic Forest at least spare me some dignity!”
He muttered under his breath, squinting against the sun’s harsh rays, his pupils constricting.
A passing knight glanced down at him, nose twitching with disgust.
“What in Phallowskleft is his problem…?”
Leveret grumbled as the knight sauntered away.
Carts clattered joltily in front of him, the bleats of livestock mingled with the chatter of the crowd.
He pulled himself up off the ground and stumbled across the road and into a gap between two houses.
He wrapped his left arm around himself, rubbing his upper arm as he walked, clutching his now bent crown in his scrapped right hand.
Suddenly, someone slammed into his left side.
“Aye! I’m walkin’ here, mister!”
“My apologies, Madam!”
He said hastily.
He glanced over his shoulder and realized… that it was a little girl around the age of five that crashed into him.
“It is going to be a long day.”
He huffed, narrowing his dark green eyes.
Then, a realization dawned on him.
Virelai was still going to have to marry that prince.
“I have to find Mogshade. He is king of the fae, he can stop this awful arrangement.”
He whispered to himself, laying eyes upon the silhouette of the Mystic Forest in the distance.
“Please do not let me be too late.”
He mumbled, breaking into a sprint across the half dirt streets.
“Mother should not be allowed to do this!”
He choked out, stumbling over a loose rock, flailing his arms slightly to keep his balance.
He clamored over a stout, poorly built rock wall with some struggle.
Suddenly a starry eyed rodent darted out from inside the wall, swerving around Leveret, causing him to let out a high-pitched yelp, nearly toppling over.
“Twitty creature!”12Please respect copyright.PENANAw6vWGqweNq
He hissed, pushing himself forward.
He suddenly stumbled over a round, smooth stone, knocking it out of its place in the circle where several similar looking rocks were arranged.
A warm, sweet scent flooded his senses.
Shrill laughter and songs echoed in his ears, rattling around in his skull, the world beginning to slow as sparks danced across his blurring vision.
“I do not think this is supposed… woah-”
