Marty pulled Leveret up from where he was sitting and dragged him out of the barn.
“Where are you taking me?!”
“I’ve got someone for you to meet, deary!”
Marty chirped cheerfully, leading his companion out of the barn.
Leveret blinked for a moment.
“...Whom?”
He asked, leaning in slightly as he stumbled over the small stones by his feet.
“You’ll like ‘er, don’t worry.”
Marty said, which did not answer the ex-prince’s question.
Leveret rolled his eyes.
“If you insist.”
He grumbled.
Marty turned around an obtusely angled corner of the barn, leading them towards a fenced in section of tall, sun bleached grass.
“You can hop fences, right, dear?”
Marty asked, letting his rough fingers brush over Leveret’s shorter ones.
Leveret swallowed, hesitating for a moment.
“Y-Yes.”
He mumbled.
“I couldn’t quite hear you, highness, dear. What was that?”13Please respect copyright.PENANACKIV7tGq0X
Marty cooed, pulling himself over the fence and wading into the grasses.
“Yes! Of course I can! I am not a jester!”13Please respect copyright.PENANA3emXXEMsev
Leveret called, marching confidently over to the crudely sanded, wooden fence.
He hoisted himself up onto the bottom plank of the fence, careful not to put too much pressure on his injured hands.
Suddenly, the grass began to grow increasingly closer.
“Eep-!”
Marty laughed as he pulled him up by the collar of his shirt.
“Not a jester, huh, Lev?”13Please respect copyright.PENANA7bL4FkncVC
He chuckled in mock surprise.
“You really should get up though, dear. I have no idea what’s down there! Snakes, fae, the black death… who knows?”
He shrugged cheerfully as he continued walking.
Leveret shuddered at the thought.
“...O-Oh… how… lovely.”
“Ain’t it, dear?”
Leveret let out a sigh as he tumbled over his feet.
“Mogshade, give me grace.”
He grumbled.
“AHA! There she is! Lev, dear, this is Zoey.”
“What in the name of all that is sacred is he pointing at?!”13Please respect copyright.PENANANvNlbOnxFS
Leveret muttered to himself, parting the grass.
He laid eyes upon a large, dusty brown goat lounging on a half rotted log.
The goat turned its head towards him and blinked slowly at him.
“Marty… you… wanted… to introduce me… to a goat?”
Marty crossed his arms over his chest proudly.
“Her name is Zoey.”
Marty nodded once before clapping Leveret on the shoulder.
“She’s gon’ be your new best friend, deary. Enjoy!”
He chirped, turning on his heel and walking away.
“WAIT! No! I do not want a new best friend!”13Please respect copyright.PENANAMTGIwdGa1c
“It’s gonna be good for ya, dear!”13Please respect copyright.PENANAIr6gVFgpBA
Marty called, not looking back at him.
Leveret let out a groan.
“What if it is not, in fact, good for me?”
Zoey let out a bleat and rolled off the log.13Please respect copyright.PENANAnCG2sVKnaM
