Again, she lets a yawn escape her mouth as she stretches, muscles stiff and aching like she'd slept on stone. Her fingers flexed-then froze. Something gritty shifted beneath her palms. Sand? But her bed had never felt like this before.
Blinking away the haze of sleep, she turned her head-And the world dropped out from under her.
Dead.
Everything was dead.
Brittle, sun-bleached bones littered the ground around her, half-buried in dunes of ashen sand. Above, a blue sky stretched endlessly in the air, the sun shining brightly above her, making her wince and putting a hand out to protect her eyes from the glare of the sun.
No clouds-just a bright sky with fresh air...well, the air didn't smell like that.
It smelled like salt and decay.
As she takes a good look around her surroundings.
Her breath hitched, but no scream came. As shock had locked her in place, her chocolate-brown eyes widened as the truth clawed its way into her mind:
This wasn't her world.
And she had no idea how she'd gotten here, nor why she was dressed in a long hospital gown surrounded by bones and fresh corpses.
