Stories from the Orgon Star System - Chapter 3: WRONG DISTRICT

Rowan, Mira, and Felix had snuck into District 43 of Belastra, better known as the Ghost District. No one was allowed inside.

The teens didn't know what they were expecting. To them, it just looked like a small town.

Still, something felt wrong to Felix.

Some porch lights were on.

There should've been guards patrolling, making sure nobody got in—but there weren't.

There was only the quiet ambience of the night.

Then Felix saw something in one of the windows.

He couldn't make it out, but it looked like—

"What was that?!"

They all turned to where Mira was pointing.

Nothing.

"It was probably just an animal. Come on, guys." Rowan said.

Felix looked back at the window.

Nothing.

That was weird.

They kept walking.

Further down the road, Rowan stopped.

"Do you see that?"

Felix looked ahead.

Someone was standing down the street.

"Yeah, that looks like—"

"Hey, guys, look!"

They turned.

Mira was sitting in one of the rocking chairs on a porch.

In a surprisingly accurate impression of the old man across from Rowan's house, she said:

"Get off my lawn."

They all laughed.

Felix looked back.

The person wasn't there anymore.

Nobody said anything.

After a while, they decided to head home.

As they walked out of District 43, Felix looked back one last time.

One of the porch lights had turned off.
