The brassy tint in the sky deepened until the sun looked like a tarnished coin. From the rooftop of a nearby skyscraper, Eza leaned against a giant, rusted winding key.
"Music is such a demanding mistress," Eza chuckled, looking down at a vintage, palm-sized tin robot in his hand. "Let’s give the President a symphony she’ll never forget. One with... significant volume."
He jammed the winding key into the toy’s back and twisted. Crrr-ack. Crrr-ack.
"Rise, Giga-Bot Decibel!"
He dropped the toy. As it fell, it didn't just grow; it distorted. By the time it hit the pavement near the school's north gate, it was a sixty-foot-tall monstrosity of jagged tin and brass pipes. Its head was a massive, rotating siren, and its chest was a giant, vibrating speaker cone.
"SCREEEEEE—"
A blast of low-frequency sound waves erupted from the robot, shattering every window in the north wing. The pavement beneath its feet turned to dust from the sheer vibration.
"It’s at the gates!" Yui shouted, stumbling as the ground shook. "Konone, the students are still in the gym for the assembly!"
"Transform! Now!" Konone commanded.
"Blazing Heart! Ignite!"
"Blazing Heart! Crystallize!"
Blazing Fire and Blazing Ice stood before the giant. Konone charged forward, her fists primed for a heavy strike, but as she got within twenty feet, the robot’s chest speaker pulsed.
"SONIC REPULSION!"
An invisible wall of sound slammed into Konone. It wasn't just air; it was a frequency that vibrated her very armor. Her flames flickered and died, extinguished by the displacement of oxygen. She was sent flying backward, skidding across the asphalt.
"Konone!" Yui lunged, creating a massive ice wall to shield them. "I’ll freeze its gears!"
She thrust her rapier forward, but the robot began to spin its siren head. The sound hit a high-pitched note so intense that Yui’s ice didn't just melt—it shattered into fine powder.
"My ice... it’s disintegrating!" Yui cried, covering her ears.
The Giga-Bot raised a massive tin foot, preparing to crush the school’s perimeter wall. The vibrations were so strong that Konone couldn't find her footing, and Yui’s vision was blurring from the resonant frequency.
"We can't get close!" Konone gritted her teeth, trying to reignite her gauntlets, but the "noise" of the monster was drowning out the "rhythm" of her power.
"Look at them," Eza mocked from above. "Two little flames, extinguished by a bit of bass. How... disappointing."
The Giga-Bot Decibel took a step forward, its shadow falling over the school gym. Inside, hundreds of students screamed as the walls began to crack. Konone and Yui looked at each other, exhausted and out of sync. They were fighting with everything they had, but they were playing a losing melody.
Suddenly, the air didn't just move—it cut.
A high-pitched whistle, sharper than the robot’s siren, sliced through the air. A streak of emerald-green light descended from the Student Council tower, moving so fast it left a trail of glowing musical staves in the sky.
"The tempo," a cold, familiar voice echoed over the chaos, "is all wrong."49Please respect copyright.PENANAhiuPTQbLbe
