"You knew this would happen," Officer Raghav said.

Slowly.

"I hoped it wouldn't."

Raghav laughed bitterly.

"Hoped?"

The word felt ridiculous now.

Subject 07 looked toward the window.

For the first time, genuine sadness appeared on his face.

"The first identities were violent."

"The later ones were empty."

A pause.

Then quietly:

"But the final ones are intelligent."

Silence filled the room.

Meanwhile, Dr. Meera sat surrounded by files and recordings.

One document stood out from the rest.

A document she had somehow missed.

FINAL OBJECTIVE

Her hands trembled slightly as she opened it.

Inside was only a single page.

Just one statement.

"Humanity does not require one identity."

Meera stared at the sentence.

Then continued reading.

"The self is an outdated structure."

"Fragmentation allows optimization."

"The next stage of consciousness begins when the original self stops resisting replacement."

Meera felt sick.

This wasn't psychology anymore.

Someone genuinely believed people should be replaced by secondary selves.

That night, Raghav finally experienced it.

The Empty Room.

One moment he sat in darkness.

The next—

he was somewhere else.

A room.

Completely white.

No doors.

No windows.

No ceiling visible above.

Only endless silence.

Raghav froze.

"What is this?"

His voice echoed strangely.

As if the room were larger than it appeared.

Then another voice answered.

"Home."

Raghav turned sharply.

Standing several feet away—

was himself.

Same face.

Same eyes.

Same voice.

But different.

This version stood perfectly calm.

No fear.

No uncertainty.

No hesitation.

Raghav stepped backward.

"No."

The other Raghav smiled faintly.

Not cruelly.

Not maliciously.

Almost sympathetically.

"You've spent your whole life carrying doubts."

A pause.

"I don't have them."

The silence became heavier.

"You aren't real," Raghav said.

The other version tilted his head slightly.

"Then why am I here?"

No answer came.

Because Raghav didn't have one.

⚠️ The Proposal

The second self walked slowly across the white room.

Hands behind his back.

Calm.

Confident.

"You're afraid I'll replace you."

Raghav didn't respond.

"That's not what happens."

A pause.

Then—

"You fade."

The words struck harder than any threat.

Not death.

Not destruction.

Disappearance.

The second self stopped walking.

"Think about it."

"How many choices do you regret?"

"How many fears control you?"

"How many emotions make you weak?"

Silence.

"I don't have any of those problems."

For one terrible second—

Raghav understood the temptation.

No guilt.

No fear.

No pain.

Just certainty.

And that frightened him more than anything.

🌑 The Warning

Suddenly—

the white room trembled.

The floor rippled beneath their feet.

The second self looked upward.

For the first time—

concern appeared on his face.

"He's coming."

Raghav frowned.

"Who?"

The second self's expression darkened.

"The one who created the rooms."

Before Raghav could ask another question—

the Empty Room cracked.

A long black fracture spread across the white walls.

Then another.

And another.

From somewhere beyond the cracks—

a familiar voice echoed.

Calm.

Cold.

Patient.

"The transition is progressing perfectly."

Raghav froze.

Dr. Elias Voss.

But the voice wasn't outside.

It was inside the structure itself.

Inside the minds.

Watching.

Waiting.

And as the cracks widened further—

Raghav saw something impossible beyond them.

Thousands of other rooms.

Thousands of other people.

Standing face-to-face with their own second selves.

The outbreak had grown far beyond one city.

Far beyond one country.

And somewhere at the center of it all—

someone was opening every door.
